Orionhunter Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Hi all. This is going to be my second character to 50, currently 42 or 43. I'm very unsure of builds to go for, and especially enhancements. Would you guys mind explaining some build ideas and why you get there? Would love to understand more of the thinking so eventually I can get there myself.
SeraphimKensai Posted March 8 Posted March 8 Well Kin/Fire benefits a lot from being in melee range. I'm not sure what kind of funds you have. With a lot of funding I would recommend building towards melee/ranged defensive softcap with a resistance shield from your epic/patron choice. Kin you can get by without a travel power if you want by stacking siphon speed and using inertia reduction. Increased density although not of any use to you, works great for early slotting of the two +defense global IOs. Once your an incarnate I'd suggest between barrier or clarion for your destiny, but aegis radial has merit as well. Hybrid I'd go with melee core for more resistance (assuming you got to defensive softcap for melee/ranged) this gives you more resistance and mez protection. If going melee core, you could consider sorcery to get Rune, and then also the Demonic Accolade to rotate to keep your resistances up high. Fulcrum shift needs enough recharge to ensure you can stay at damage cap and also some accuracy. There's a pretty spend HO or Dsync that covers both recharge and accuracy, otherwise a common IO of each works.

Personally I prefer Kin on a Corruptor because the damage bases are higher, your damage cap is also higher and you'll pretty much hit your damage cap (even if it is higher) via Fulc Shift anyway. The damage cap for Defenders is 400%. For Corruptors it's 500%. And Enhancements count towards it. So you'll easily cap Damage (one advantage Kin Defenders have is they'll get the Dam bonus higher for the whole team in AV fights, because it's harder to cap in those). Anyway, making a Kin/Fire based off my DP/Kin Corruptor I came up with something like this. The Def numbers are usually slightly higher ingame. On my Kin I perma-run Defense Amplifier but those are 2.5 million per hour so you not want to (or just buy it sporadically when you know you're doing hard content). The one drawback with this build is Tranfusion has no Acc slotted in. I rely on set bonuses + Kismet + the fact the thing recharges quickly anyway but you may want to adjust that. Only reason I didn't mention it was the OP already has their kin/fire defender at level 42/43. Rain of fire also works better on a corruptor than a defender. The increased damage cap plus scourge is likely the reason fire/kin corruptors are as prevalent as they are on the servers.

Somewhere between 230-260 is best I can managed. Defender should be over 300 which makes a difference for the team. Kins kind of turn into Fulcrum / Siphon / Transfusion spambot in AV fights so a Defender is best there. MoonSheep Posted March 10 Posted March 10 for balance, i detailed a bunch of my thoughts in the kin/sonic thread where i show how cheaply an effective kin defender can be had and still highly effective building for defense is one approach, but in my view as a defender main, i think it’s a misinformed strategy and you’ll waste a lot of your potential by chasing unnecessary def/res stats If you're not dying you're not living
