johua Posted May 16 Posted May 16 I dunno if this has been suggested or is on the dev radar but I figured I'd make the suggestion. Anyway, I've often encountered an issue where I make a character, make some costumes, get them some levels, and then realize I don't like their scales. The problem is that if I want to update the scales for the other costumes, I have to load one costume on all of those slots, and then I have to go through the process of fixing those slots, color selections, etc. So, I think it'd be neat if you could save and load costume scales like you can costumes and power customization. 1 2
Grouchybeast Posted May 16 Posted May 16 +1 Having scales as a separate option to save/load would be a great QoL improvement. Reunion player, ex-Defiant. AE SFMA: Zombie Ninja Pirates! (#18051) Regeneratio delenda est!
srmalloy Posted May 16 Posted May 16 It's not as convenient as just being able to save/load only the scales, and I don't know how well it would work, but given the structure of a .costume file, I have no reason to believe that it wouldn't. Change the scales of your character, save the costume, then open it up in a text editor, and copy the scales lines -- lines 3-16 -- from the file: Scale 25.49 BoneScale -0.5129 ShoulderScale 0.236 ChestScale 0.2179 WaistScale -0.2651 HipScale -0.2565 LegScale 0.008806 HeadScales 0.3, 0.39, 0.4 BrowScales 0.16, -0.52, 0.63 CheekScales 0.5, 0.42, 0.42 ChinScales 0.77, 0.32, 0.34 CraniumScales 0, 0, 0 JawScales -0.04, 1, 1 NoseScales 0, 0.3, 0.15 Now switch to each other character and save the costume -- you can re-use the same file name as a temporary -- then open it up in the text editor and paste the copied scales over the scales in the costume file. Save the file from the text editor, switch back to CoH, and load the costume file. This should load the costume you just saved, but with the updated scales. 1 2
LKN-351 Posted May 16 Posted May 16 I'll second what srmalloy said. I just did what he explained and it worked like a charm. Granted, don't forget you have to go to a tailor that can adjust height if that's one of the things that you're changing. Also, you can make characters taller or shorter than the scale in game allows from the costume files. Males can go a bit taller and females can go a bit shorter. I don't remember the exact numbers but there is a thread about it somewhere. I'll try to find it later if anyone wants it. Are you looking for Ultramode style, candy coated enhancements and powers? WELL YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!! (they're also in the City Mod installer)
LKN-351 Posted May 19 Posted May 19 If you want to edit your character to make the males taller and the females shorter than the Icon sliders allow, heres how. Male skeletons you can barely make shorter, female you can make quite a lot shorter. YOU MUST LOAD THE FILE AT THE COSMETIC SURGEON!!! Well, even with the height slider scaled to the max, she can still be... bigger. It just takes text editing of her costume file. I have a character of my own who is a giant robot. A friend who hangs around on SCORE told me about a neat undocumented feature of costume files: you can go beyond the limits of the scale sliders in Icon. Not much, but enough to make people go "HOW did you DO that?" but the game will parse that value to 35, giving you roughly another head of height. So. You save your costume to a file at the tailor, open it in notepad and fiddle with the Scale Value, saving it as the same file name. Return to the game and load the costume file for a costume slot and voila! You have a REALLY tall character. There is one caveat: in-game chat bubbles will appear to be emanating from your character's chest. The height can also take you the other way, making a TEENY character, but I don't know the limit that the game will parse in that direction. Then there was the scaling for female characters. On 7/14/2019 at 2:57 AM, Zolgar said: It's worth noting that this doesn't work on female skeletons. The max in-game height for a female skeleton sets the scale to 36, which is the highest the game will recognize. 😞 (I was super sad when I discovered that for my Titan/Bio, I wanted her to be taller...) On 7/14/2019 at 3:08 AM, Shinobu said: Well I can't speak for making female characters taller, but I tried this on a small character and was able to make her smaller. I had a min height character and according to the costume file the scale was set to -27. I tried setting to -37, and I got an error, but then I tried -35 and this worked.
