I know, it's no Bah Ram Ewe, but it's what I've come up with, ok?

The learning curve has been steep but stimulating. I got bit by the Alt-itis bug after getting my eldest daughters childhood books gathered up to send to her so her daughter can enjoy them. I spotted Thumbelina and my mind went to CoH because, what ELSE is a retired old fart ganna do?

I found precious little in the way of builds like this so went with the kind knowledge given so far and dove in.

Which means there are issues I don't know enough to see, I'm certain.

Jets stream repels, taking stuff out of frigid protection. Maybe you want this to buy you some time, even if so, don't toss in a full force feedback set unless your desperate for recharge bonuses. Its still a dps cone so ranged aoe pieces. With a ff+rech in the last slot allocated.

Lots of 6 slotting winter pieces giving you useless fire/cold defence which only really comes in handy on Market Crash vs Skyraiders or fire farms. Same goes for the 6th slot of ragnarok in storm cell. It looks like you aimed for some def+res but that 14% toxic/psi res won't save you from any toxic/psi attacks. Pull a slot from there as well.

2 slotted ice sword. Guessing a force pick there. One of the reasons i dislike /ice secondary.

You have evasive manouvres on- turn it off to see your actual defence numbers (unless you already hit options-config-effects and maths-suppression) Even then it may give false numbers.

Slotting for damage in build up wont increase your damage, a lvl 50 boosted io will do better.

Is the stealth pool a mule power for luck of the gamblers 7.5% ? If you just want stealth and since it looks like your going to be running flight constantly you could take a slot from fly and toss in the stealth flight io. And i have frigid slotted with end mod and still have end issues so its in bad need of a respec. But it will give you something to look at, i thought it had already been posted back when storm came out.

I made one of these when storm came out but i didnt have fun with it so i'm not sure how much help my own build will be as i don't play it and my aims back then were different - 40% s/l/ranged with a t4 barrier to cover the hole.

A few things to further define my thought process.

I keep evasive always on. I toggle between Fly or Hover, but Evasive is a constant. I use it like a defensive toggle ( which it is ) with a side benefit of amazing flight control. Invaluable to this old timers waning reflexes 🙂

Stealth and Infiltration are indeed mules. My goal was a interdiction blaster. Max recharge so that I have as many offensive option at my beck and call as possible to control the battle field.

Ice Sword for when I run Oro missions. I like having a good melee option at those lower levels. Also this was built as a leveling build. Far too often I've been giving builds that are functionally inept at leveling, clearly being respc, end-game builds. I know they will eventually be as delivered, but without the funds to pimp them out I find them frustrating to attempt to play. I don't power level, FF or any of that. I like to do the story arcs and task forces as intended, and at appropriate level when possible.

Jet Stream is only used when Storm Cell is active, which is often, as it turns out.

I wanted HP's. I want MORE, but what I have was a balance between HP and Res/Def values that keep my old butt in the fight. Having said this, I read a lot about soft cap, but nothing of hard cap. Is there a definite "this is the most XXX AT can have for this defensive stat? And if so, are they different between Resistance and Defensive?

Being blind to that specific knowledge I built in more resistance as a sort of buffer for when defense falls. The biggest issue for me was trying to eek in AOE defense. I just don't know enough about it's value, and the sets that provide it ( or if they are even worth pursuing ).

I'm pouring over your sample build looking at slotting choices and such. Thank you kindly.

I'm with you on running evasive manouvres for flight speed, i also leave it running permanently-for the immob protection it gives too. I just turn it off when i'm looking at mids defence numbers, then turn it on to see how much of my blue bar its gonna suck up.

Quick look over what you posted, i often will do the same thing when it comes to ff+rech and slot it in a t1 power. Where it has the least chance to fire off but sometimes theres just nowhere else for it to go. I'd still swap the defiant barrage set into the t1 so you can use it when mezzed (very useful on a levelling build) which would let you toss a manticore set and another chance for damage into direct strike (more recharge/more ranged defence/more damage)

Nothing to say about jet stream, i hate repels and i've never slotted a full knockback set in anything before so my experience there is 0. Will the ff=rech fire off? On a mob its a pretty good bet even with the power slotted for recharge. I've done it in stuff like Gale on stormy's and it works well.

Slotting hover for defence doesn't give you any. Nothing you'd notice, thats 2 slots that could be used for set bonuses that you will notice.

There's so much stuff you can shuffle about, it looks like your going for ranged def/aoe def/recharge so i'll shuffle some stuff you can look at and see what you think, if it gives you ideas thats what mids is for. I spent 5 min moving slots and some sets. So i don't know whats gone from original build. Def looks better, res may have dropped, recharge may have dropped. Slotting hasten with a single io is a no no when your going for recharge, if its a true levelling/exempting build then it needs minimum 2 boosted 50's, maximum 3 boosted lvl 30's.

If your sole aim is survival then you don't need frozen sword or frozen aura, why melee if you don't need to and have no melee def. You could toss in gust and something else or take fire epic with bonfire (ff+rech and an overwhelming kd/kb) for better control and just build for ranged defences. If you hit 45% ranged and never melee you'll (almost) never die. Some aoe defence on top will help if you have slots.

Appreciate the interaction!

My continuing thoughts as I faf about with mids.

Hasten, this is gonna sound weird, but I only need 1 to keep my recharge at 300%. I get a ton from my set bonuses. So I took 1 out because it was essentially overkill. I can't take the bonuses out of the sets, so the slot was recycled.

You've expanded ( and maybe blown ) my mind with the deep dive on the potential for mez protection depending on where something is slotted. Why is Mids like a potpuri jenga puzzle of mystery? 😄

Enigma be damned, I'm pushing on.

Jet Stream, a further triste, I use it not as a primary damage dealer but in the interdiction role of battlefield control. While Storm Cell is active it becomes a knockdown. This is great soft control and is a noticeable defensive tool no matter the level. I want it to be as close to 100% as possible, hence the slotting choice.

Are you sure you aren't assuming 100% uptime for the force feedback proc here?  If you have the power it's slotted in "turned on" in MIDS, it will show you +100% recharge, but in fact FF proc is almost always low uptime.  Lots of people drastically overrate their recharge because of this.
