KingsGambit Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) Hiya, Wishing all no-good heroes and dastardly, loveable villains a happy new year. I was supporting a friend to try and get CoX running on his Macbook laptop (M1 CPU, Monterey 12.1 OS). I have tried using LaunchCat and Island Rum to no avail. The game doesn't launch. Using LaunchCat, it downloads ~828MB (which looks to be Wine) and a handful of other things, but no big games files. Running LaunchCat again it just closes. Using Island Rum, it failed a time or two but did eventually download an entire game client with lots of PIGG files and so on. But there is no LAUNCH COH app in applications. I've tried doing things in terminal and between some forum posts and ChatGPT I installed Homebrew and Rosetta 2. I tried various terminal commands with wine and launcher.exe but nothing works. I don't have ready access to the laptop, but am in touch with my friend with whom I'd like to play again after several years away from Rogue Isles 🙂. I'd be most grateful for any ideas or suggestions to get this running. It feels like it's either something isn't downloaded (maybe a crucial launcher application file) or maybe a Wine issue. Thank you so much in advance and happy new year again. Edited January 7 by KingsGambit

Game Master GM Manga Posted January 18 Game Master Posted January 18 That's a permissions issue. First make sure the user you're installing with is an administrator. Also make sure the Applications folder is set to "admin Read & Write" (use Get Info, that setting is at the bottom). Then remove the "coh" folder run LaunchCat again. 1 Mac expert and designer of LaunchCat. Interested in participating in Closed Beta or Vanguard events? Send me a PM!
KingsGambit Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 Thank you so much for the kind reply. That sounds like it could well be the cause. We will hope to try this fix soon. Thank you again for the helpful reply.

So I had a go yesterday but with the same results as before. I checked: logged in user was an admin, Applications folder had "Read and Write" for admin on the Get Info tab and I removed the coh folder and LaunchCat file from Applications folder. I re-ran the downloaded LaunchCat.app and similar to before, 828MB Wine file downloads and little else. The LaunchCat program in Applications opens briefly, then disappears.
