Powergrind Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Hey, sorry if this has been suggested before. I searched for this topic but couldn't find it. Could just be user error. Dark color versions of normal and path Auras. Most if not all powers have a bright and dark option. I would like to see the same be done with Auras. Right now you can't have a true black aura because black just looks like a very dim grey while black when using the dark option on powers actually looks black. Not sure how feasible this is or how the devs could implement it. Just an idea and want. 1
General Idiot Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) If i recall correctly from the original devs' discussions of how it worked when we first got power customisation, the bright and dark options utilise seperate base textures. One uses additive colours and the other uses subtractive colours but I forget which is which. But only one of those currently exists for costume auras. At a bare minimum they have to duplicate the uncoloured textures for every aura and adjust them to match what's used for dark powers. And then port the code over from powers to costumes which with how spaghetti this game's code is might be a non-trivial task in itself. But in theory it's doable, just potentially a lot more work than it sounds. Edited January 8 by General Idiot Autocorrect is the bane of my existence. When life gives you lemonade, make lemons. "Dark" and "black" are not consistent. some turn the area around your character inky splorch, while others do shades of grey. many "Dark" powers are actually colored with blues and purples. not to mention most "orig" power colors are 3-4 color mixes, then when you option to bright or dark you get 2.

It may be one of those situations where it seams easier than it really is and then becomes more work for limited gain. So it becomes a nice to have at some point instead of any type of priority. Stil would hope for it someday. Even if it only starts with a few auras having the dark option at first.

I agree that a lot of the "black" colored powers aren't truly black but a mix of blues and vary widely in tone between different sets. I would assume that has to do with when they were made and who worked on them at the time. Seems like something the current devs wouldn't touch as the current is "good enough" and probably not worth the time investment to make them all the same. 1
