battlewraith Posted March 9 Posted March 9 I think the gist of what Troo wants is something idiosycratic, not necessarily bad in the sense that it performs poorly. The game at this point is very predictable, very formulaic. If that floats your boat fine, but it I think a lot of people feel this game has gotten stale with the same thing over and over. Just come up with a new theme, tweak some variables, and viola a new set. But it's really just more of the same, which is what this game has been ever since they went down the road of powerset proliferation Some of the recent posts in this forum indicate that some people: 1. Insist on a carboard cutout sense of balance. Everything has to perform in roughly the same way. 2. They don't want anything actually challenging. 3. They don't want any kind of randomness. Cater to these three preferences and you have stagnation. The same thing with just cosmetic changes. Dull, low hanging fruit. 2 1 1

Yes Maybe we don't need to have cookie cutter sets. We don't need sets that are simply the exact same power stats repackaged. A whips power set does not have to purposely be the worst. It also doesn't need to be the best. This can alleviate a bit of the worry about balance. Does every new set have to adhere to this suggestion? Of course not. "But Troo, I want clown pets AND have it be the best set!" - said some one who is never getting clown pets. 1 "Homecoming is not perfect but it is still better than the alternative.. at least so far" - Unknown (Wise words Unknown!)
