Lighting Broken in Praetoria Hospitals

All hospitals in Praetoria, despite appearing brightly lit, barely illuminate characters inside them (whether NPC or PC). This has been true for every Praetorian character I've played. Attached are two screenshots of the same character: one from the character select screen, the other inside the Neutropolis hospital. As you can see, the hospital image barely illuminates the character, or the nurse NPC next to him.

Updated to mention bug affects NPCs too

Looks fine on my screen, just a few shadows.  Maybe check your graphics settings?

It did turn out to be a settings thing, thanks! Reducing shadow quality fixed it, but I like nice-looking shadows so I kept looking. For some reason, enabling advanced shadow settings- not even changing them, just enabling them- seemed to fix it.
