'Bout a year ago @Infinitummade a build for my Hulk-themed Brute. It's great fun but I wanted to have a 2nd build that wasn't Hulk-themed and more min/maxed. I also wanted to get my endurance under control and use Barrier and work in some +HP procs, while keeping Knockout Blow and Foot Stomp proc'd out. Is all this possible while keeping my exotic defense at soft cap? Cause it's not really working out for me.

 

Alphas... Agility is out cause that messes with the proc %. Musculature is out cause I'll mostly be at damage max already (right?). So, I was figuring on Vigor. I suppose Cardiac could be on the table to bump resists more...

 

Primary is SS so Rage crash is in the mix... BTW how do you guys handle the crash with Inv? Pop an insp? Cause 1 /min seems a bit much. Or do you shoot for higher than soft cap on def to mitigate the -20% hit to defense?

 

I've been chasing my tail, and I think I've gone too deep to see a clear path. So hope'n for a bit of help.

here's a quick build i jus thru 2gather , i wanted winters bite in punch but then i realized i was missing the ATOs so i stuffed one set into punch and moved WB to kick since u cant put the other brute ATO into kick , handclap might also be a good addition and you could easily drop something from leadership but then u would also need to put 4 slots into handclap

 

i dont have a lot of experience with invul XD

Rage can be perma with enough recharge. It also stacks. As long as at least 1 rage is up you shouldn't crash iirc.

That was fixed in 2007. The newer crash was introduced later and IIRC was never impacted by it.

 

Lots of folk double stack Rage constantly... and presumably that's why Wu Tang is complaining about having to pop an insp every 60 secs instead of every 120 secs.

 

The -Defense aspect of the crash is most problematic on pure Defense powersets - Invulnerability tends to have more than enough MaxHP and Resistance to power through it, and building for softcapped defense with 1 foe within Invincibility range is pretty common which means in typical scenarios you're overbuffed.

 

The -Damage aspect of the crash is IMO usually more annoying but can be compensated for via Damage Procs.

Yes, I keep Rage double stacked. I don't always have to pop an insp especially if I'm only dealing with S/L damage types. The problem comes in when it's any of the other types of damage. I can get fire/cold def up decently but my eng/Neng def lags and the resistances to those types are only in the high 50s to low 60s. Then couple that with the lack of a heal and a crash occurs, boop, my big guy is munching carpet and not in the fun way. This is why I was trying to put together a build that had high-ish regen combined with heal procs while maintaining procs and typical defenses.

 

Basically, what I've come to realize is the combo of SS/Inv is not my cup of tea.

 

I should say that, even with my build in its current state, it does very well on teams, it's solo where it all seems to fall apart....well when against anything but S/L that is.

 

I think /Inv is a good power set, but I seem to do better with resist and regen armors. I'm thinking of pairing it with a different offense to see how well it does for me.

When soloing vs non-S/L critters you probably won't need to run Ageless (as the bulk of PVE -Def comes from lethal-damage-typed powers) so that frees you up to run Barrier or Rebirth instead. So first Rage crash, activate Barrier/Rebirth... and second Rage Crash; activate Dull Pain. And spam Footstomp for the KD.
 

I'll typically try to time my Dull Pain and Hasten activations to the Crash; along with a Footstomp or two.
Mainly because the -damage debuff hurts much less whenever you're using it to activate things that aren't attacks... 😉

I would proc out ko blow but not footstomp. Aside from the ff +recharge one. I like using it as often as possible. And the end cost is high if only procs. And can still use it during crash to keep the ff proc active. And ko blow all proc’d out is still fine during crash as well. I usually read someone’s fortune or combine inspirations during crash. Still use footstomp. You’ll likely be fine not dying. Still using footstomp is good for mitigation as well.
