Adelante Posted April 16 Posted April 16 Can we please get some new updates on league leader organization options? After the 2 weeks of Mapserver event, it reminded me how badly we need to fix the league leader ui. League leaders currently cannot edit team leaders, arrange teams unless people are in same zone, sometimes moving people is only possible by right clicking rather than dragging. Also why are player levels per team? it makes it so complicated. It makes more sense everyone is the same level as the league leader.
jkwak Posted April 16 Posted April 16 the way how leagues work in CoH has some annoying quirks and problems but from what i heard and know they cant do much about those problems, at best they can prevent the auto quiting leagues when a gold sider is in the league and the league goes to Primal earth and have instead the gold sider getting auto kicked. although the major problems with how leagues work only make them self apparent when things like the Mapserver happen which is a once a year occurence, for MSR, Hami and ITFs as well as the occasional Nemesis, Zombie and Rikti invasions most of the problems with leagues arent as impactfull as leagues just stay in the same zone all the time and there isnt much change in members of the league with people droping and joining all the time. Even for Monster hunts leagues stay small and can be easy managed besides the problems of how Legues work. only occurence where the bad way leagues work has an impact would be ToTing also once a year and there leagues at least stay in zone back to the Zukunft @Jkwak
LordXenophon Posted Wednesday at 03:09 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:09 PM I don't believe we need most of these things. I can't say any of your ideas are bad. In fact, any of them would probably be welcomed by the community. I've never been able to drag a team member at all, so I wouldn't mind seeing that fixed. The one idea which is critically needed is the ability for the league leader to designate team leaders. While you're already poking around in that code, maybe you can solve one or two of the bugs. Quite often, the league leader's star gets passed on mission entry. Less often, teams are scrambled entirely, multiple members are kicked, or a bunch of people are in the mission but not on the league list. Sometimes, you can't invite to your league because somebody else logged off without quitting the league. Pets are often labelled as if not part of the league, even when their owners are in the league. If a league member enters a TF, AE or Ouroboros mission and then quits the league, nobody else can enter the league's mission. I'm sure there's other bugs I forgot about, too. I've been on (league) teams where the team leader was an inappropriate level, and the team couldn't get the team leader to correct the situation. I've also been on leagues where the league leader was putting players on inappropriate level teams. Each case is annoying, and MMV as far as perception of which (disengaged league leader, disengaged team leaders) happens more frequently but both are incredibly common in my experience... and the problem is greatest when leagues are zoning. Even smallish leagues that pop into an instanced map (from open world) have problems with players not being engaged enough to recognize what has happened when stars go to different folks or some folks delay zoning/crash out/whatever.

But if that person is AFK everyone is waiting and complaining because nothing can be done until they return to the keyboard and promote someone else. actually, not entirely true. the league lead can tell the team members to quit and then he can reinvite them after booting the non-responsive team leader. Sure... but only if the league leader is paying attention. Currently league leaders can shuffle teams (when there are fewer than 6 teams) to rebuild teams with level 50s... as I wrote, I commonly see (open world) league leaders be pretty bad at running a league.

It makes more sense everyone is the same level as the league leader. I'd never real thought about this point, but it makes sense. Why, as a league leader, would you ever want any of the other teams in the league to be less than your level? It could impact the mentoring badges, I guess? But if you want those, I guess... I dunno... you could lead stuff on your own. As a league leader, I would LOVE it if I craft team 2 and team 3 just like I want and know those teams won't get swapped when we LFG into something. I would love to be able to designate someone as a team leader without having to reshuffle the teams to accomplish that. It would be so cool to never again have to ask someone to give me back the the league star. I'd be thrilled if I could continue to invite people who are in zone, even though someone on Team 1 happened to leave the zone. Let's get rid of "Lock the event for your group" which seems designed to spaghetify your league, and instead have you immediately go in with less than a full league rather than have to queue for a few minutes. Let's remove the Avg. Wait Time column which has always been meaningless and replace it with how many are in progress you can join right now. Let's have a prompt come up after you mapserve that detects you are still involved in an event and ask if you want to rejoin - rather than you sending a tell to the league leader, getting reinvited, but then find yourself locked out of the event entirely Alas, I bet that is a ton of work, fraught with programming peril, and we're more likely to get an additional currency before any of that ever happens.
