Since the Anniversary: Lag, Activated Spinning Light Around Powers, Timeout Message

Dear Devs,

Just wanted to inform you of problems I've been experiencing since the Anniversary Event started.

1. Lag-General Zone Lag and Lag during missions like ITF and  Hami Raids. However, I do not think the issues is caused by more people playing the game when I'm playing.

a. I differentiate a zone lag, e.g. like one can experience during ToT  or the Mapserver event, when more people are in a zone like PI from an mission lag like in a Mothership Raid or BAF or Ballroom.

2. During group missions (ITF, Hami Raids, Mothership Raids, Ballroom events): Along with the lag I will see a white dot with a trail circling around a power, sometimes it appears if I'm hit multiple buttons when the game slowed down.

3. During group missions (ITF, Hami Raids, Mothership Raids, Ballroom events):  A power has remained depressed/greyed out when it should be active or when the timer has ended. Sometimes the countdown timer extends beyond the normal time.  Sometimes I can click on the greyed out inactive powers and (active them) start a new count down.

4. During group missions (ITF, Hami Raids, Mothership Raids, Ballroom events): Using (activating) the lag toggle button during these times can slow performance down even more and sometimes de-activating the toggle button improves performance and speed. This does not normally happen.

5. Sometimes these problems do not happen. One ITF might be laggy and the one after not. For zone lag issues (slow down) I assume it's the number of people in zone.

6. Last night I was mapservered from the game. I tried re-entering multiple times at different times afterwards and could not. A notice said the issue could have been my side or the game server. I could not sign back in a received time out alerts in the form of the yellow triangle icon on the activation window.

a. I think the error was client-side because I could play other games, watch videos, etc. using the same computer between attempts to log back in.

I've also read over chat that other people experienced "lags" in Mothership raids and Hami raids One mentioned it in a MSR happening despite using the toggle.

Anyway , thank you for the game. Just wanted to let you know of some issues I've been experiences since Monday when the Anniversary drops started.

Most of what you have described sounds like Normal server lag during high population times. If you are on Excelsior or Everlasting this is fairly common when a new community event drops or during large group events ( Hami, MSR, etc ).

Not even sure what this is, but would love to hear more.

CoH comes from an era of gaming where even small drops in bandwidth can cause noticeable issues and it doesn't buffer like videos, it needs a real time connection. You can try running netgraph ( type /netgraph 1 in the chat bar ) and you will see a small graph in the lower right of your screen. It will not affect gameplay. ( /netgraph 0 to turn off ) Any issues with connection are amplified when server load is high and you can compare your results to the list below.

Interpreting the netgraph:

Spike shape: The height of the bar representing server ping time in milliseconds. Short is good, long is bad.

Green bars represent received packets.

Short = normal/good

Long = low bandwidth.

Yellow bars represent retransmitted packets.

Short = ISP/Router issues

Red bars represent dropped packets

Short = ISP/Router issues

Blocks of Red = Interrupted communications

Most of this is Client ( you ) side, high server population just makes it worse.

Server side issues everyone experiences

" When it's too tough for everyone else,

it's just right for me..."

( Unless it's Raining, or Cold, or Really Dirty

or there are Sappers, Man I hate those Guys...)

@Dogooder thanks for reporting what you are experiencing.

Can I ask what gfx setting you are running and how much Ram your system has? {I run at 'Recommended' and have 32GB}

While this computer is setup to specifically run CoX at middle of the road settings, I have noticed my graphics card working harder of late.
