Jeff Krock Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Looking for a little help using MIDs hero builder. I do not have/use discord so I can't seem to reach the right people. Ever since MIDs changed a while back from the old style "data chunk" that looked like a PARAGRAPH in brackets...to the newer looonnnng string that looks like gibberish...I have NOT been able to figure out HOW to import/read the builds. Any help would be much appreciated. However...if you are gunna...explain it like you would to a NON-tech savvy teenager. Who is stupid..... thanks, Kapt Krock 1
Troo Posted July 6 Posted July 6 @Jeff Krock You've nailed the average user experience with Mids' "Homecoming is not perfect but it is still better than the alternative.. at least so far" - Unknown (Wise words Unknown!) Si vis pacem, para bellum
Jeff Krock Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 (edited) Well FUDGE!!! (thanks for response) Edited July 6 by Jeff Krock
Derek Icelord Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Mids has it's own subforum here. I also wrote a guide, which can be found here. There is an Import Data Chunk option under the Build Sharing menu. You should be able to highlight a data chunk and copy it (CTRL+C), then click Import Data Chunk and paste it into the window that pops up. I do not know how old a data chunk can be and still be imported by the current version of Mids', I had insufficient data for testing that feature. In theory it should work for any data chunk, though a loaded build may have display issues depending on how much has changed with the power sets. Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket? Be sure you're using the Homecoming Wiki and not Fandom or ParagonWiki for Homecoming information. Guide to Using Mids' Hero Designer

I very much appreciate it your time and don't expect you to drop everything and help me here....but my issue is still not resolved. Your post is wonderful and detailed....but I didn't see how to fix my issue. I have no trouble importing the old style "paragraph of letters and numbers in brackets". It is the newer style I can't figure out. NOW a'days, when I open a build...it is a VERY long string of words and symbols. I can NOT figure out how to get THAT build to work in MIDs. Others are doing this every day. There is some step I am missing. Some way to convert or import that info. If anyone could help or tell me who to ask I would be grateful. Saddly I don't have much tech savvy and I don't use discord.... Edited July 8 by Jeff Krock
Derek Icelord Posted Wednesday at 02:07 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:07 PM Do you have an example of a build you're trying to open? 1 Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket? Jeff Krock Posted Wednesday at 02:13 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 02:13 PM For example.... If I open the link/build found on this page....I get this... and i can't figure out how to get THIS to load...
Derek Icelord Posted Wednesday at 02:22 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:22 PM (edited) Oh, yeah, Mids' is kinda bad about file association. If you double click a build, it doesn't usually open Mids' to view the build. Safe the file somewhere, then open Mids' first and then use the File -> Open... menu (or Ctrl + O) to open the build from inside Mids'. You can try and fix the file association by right clicking the build file and selecting "Open With..." then picking Mids' and checking "Always Use this app to open .mdb files" box.
