Uun Posted Tuesday at 04:22 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:22 PM I'm planning a new sentinel and looking at Assault Rifle for the primary since I haven't played it since live. How do the sentinel versions of Ice Armor, Regen and Psi Armor stack up (also sets I haven't played on HC)? Uuniverse

Ive heard that Psi Armor is also very good on Sents but wont play it until they make a version withought those silly skulls on it.

I paired AR with invuln on my sentinel - it is a very tanky set and has some nice adjustments for sentinels. Ninjitsu is also a fun secondary if you want something a bit more sneaky and defense-based. Radiation armor is good all around and has one of the best end recovery and absorb powers in particle shielding, so you'll have plenty of fuel for all your toggles.

Ice got a little bit better with the addition of Rime and now has more absorb shields to rely on besides defense and a small amount of resists. I don't know how well it would pair with AR since it does have a lot of cones and if you want to use Moisture Absorption, you would need to go into melee range. Regen, from what I've heard discussed about it, got worse after the new patch changed the set for Sentinels. It lost Instant Healing and the absorb shield that it gave which were more useful than relying on passive regen from Reactive. This was discussed on the beta feedback with regen changes being a nerf to Sentinels (don't know how accurate this is as I don't have a regen Sent myself).

I've already got /Rad and /Ninjitsu sentinels and wanted to try something new. Haven't done Invul in a while so that might be an option. 1 Uuniverse

JediDave Posted Thursday at 05:17 PM Posted Thursday at 05:17 PM I say psi. Layered armor is good, and you get every single layer. Defense, resistance, regen, +maxHP, absorb, cc, and a self rez that works for a big chunk of time as death insurance if used while still standing. Cone on sents for drain psyche is better than if it were pbaoe too. And while tanks/brutes/scraps/stalkers would ignore building for defense with no ddr, a sent would really only need to shoot for ranged def, not m/r/aoe, so even getting at or near defense cap wouldn't be terribly difficult. I made the controversial decision to drop aura of insanity on my sent since I am only in melee for a second or two when I pop the T9 or my one pbaoe attack, then hop back out. Nothing is wrong with ice or regen, but I feel like each is just worse on sentinels than other ATs. Regen is directly tied to max hp, and sents are tied with stalkers for lowest hp on ATs that have access to it. You can still cycle MoG and RoP and a melee hybrid, but personal preference, I'd vote against going that route. Ice is fine, but imo defense sets on sents are better as positional defense sets, since ranged defense will cover the vast majority of damage, save a bit of psi that ignores positions, and a fireball aimed at a teammate next to you.
