Possibly a pair of dumb idea for epic/patron pools

Idea one: More patrons. Use some of those little used NPC meta humans for patron contacts. Coyote comes to mind as a prime example of a more experienced hero that shows up once and wouldn't necessarily be world ending if they showed up a second time. Basically just undefined supers that could "grant access" to different thematically inclined pools. In the example of Coyote, maybe he could offer some Mother Nature inspired powers. (Heroic MM are a thing these days after all. 🙂 ) 

 

Idea two : The "problematic one" if someone goes out of there way to unlock the patron pools, instead of them being epic pools with extra steps, let players grab that one power from the pool that would naturally coincide with their AT. Since they seem pretty formulaic with some ranged damage, an armor, a pet, a control, a mellee attack,  and some sort of buff/debuff (Gives Scirocco the evil eye on that last one) give a split 6th option that fits the current AT. So the mellee folks would have the split choice of an extra armor or the mellee damage, the MM might get to choose from two different pets etc.

Melee ATs don't get access to armor powers or melee powers in their APPs or PPPs. They already get a full set of melee powers in their primaries and armor powers in their secondaries (except for Tankers who reverse that) and the APPs and PPPs don't add to what the ATs already get, they expand what they can do. (Though MMs do still get access to Arachnos pets from their PPPs.)

MMs are in fact the only AT that do NOT get access to patron pets (presumably for this very reason!)

(the VEAT Soldier class do get access to patron pets though; and my "Crabbermind" makes good use of theirs!) 😉
