All has seemed well with a recent upgrade (on "unsupported hardware") to Win11-25H2 but I've now had two hard crashes to system restart while playing CoH. I know... odd timing for my return.

 

Going through the normal stuff now, sfc /scannow, win update check, etc, already have latest nvidia drivers for my 3080.

 

Anyone else experiencing this?

Nope, fine here.

 

One of the devices I've been playing on recently is actually an older laptop with an unsupported CPU that I just forcibly upgraded to Win11 25H2 last week. I did go through the usual "turn off all the faff and uninstall all the bloatware" steps though, but that shouldn't really have had much impact on stability.

 

I know certain Graphics cards really don't play nicely with older games on Win11; so you could potentially try using something like dgvoodoo2 etc. as a passthough + see if it makes any difference?

Hey Bubba! Good to see you again!

 

although I’m running supported hardware, a hard crash happens to me from time to time when just idling. Not playing COH or anything! 
 

when I reboot I almost always get a notification that an update was installed. I decided that turning off auto-updates for everything was a good idea, and haven’t had another crash yet.

Seems that after installing that optional update, I'm in the clear. For anyone that doesn't know:

Settings, Windows Updates, Advanced Options, Optional Updates, Driver Updates.

 

Edit: Bah, spoke too soon. But several hours of gameplay before the crash.

Thank you for mentioning the Updates>Advanced Options>Optional Updates>Driver Updates.  I did find I had two.  That said, is there any way to get someone from the HC team to take a look at the multiple crash reports I've submitted to see if they might be able to help me figure out why my game keeps crashing?  I've done the speed/latency test against the Canadian server that was mentioned in another thread; that is all good - great connection and ping.  I've updated everything on my Lenovo Legion 7 laptop.  I've restarted my router several times, and since Sunday, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game 3 times.  I always make sure to check the Verify option from the launcher as well.  There are sometimes I have back-to- back crashes and the handler comes up so I submit those.  Other times the game just closes without the crash handler coming up.  

 

I'm on vacation this week and was looking forward to some serious CoX time but, I feel like the interweb gods are taunting me and wanting me to *shudder* go o-u-t-s-i-d-e or something.  

 

Anyway, any help would be truly appreciated.  This started within the last month or so.  I wasn't sure if it was related to ToT lag before but it's still happening and I'm not sure what to do.
