I have some tanks but I wouldn't say I play them a lot.

Bio armor has sucked for me on other toons, but I am really enjoying this tank.

I feel that I finally have it dialed in, but would like to get some other's opinions as spreadsheets/mids do not always tease out the subtleties for bio.

My play style and what I am going for.

-1 build only capable of tanking trial AVs, fire farming, high energy and psi mobs, without many panic situations: Pretty much achieved

- Stay in the offensive adaptive armor virtually all day

I enjoy the fly + hover playstyle, but would consider something else if it boosts my damage or survivability, quality of life.

Any other tips/tricks/comments?

- I want the utility of the taunt power (but do i really need it).  I chose mu mastery because I wanted one more nice AOE for farming with mu lightning for an additional ranged pull

-I love damage auras

Comments:

- Chose proton sweep as a mule for melee def.

- Cap melee def, I do use perma Barrier so I leave my melee def at 40%-ish- Have DNA siphon with damage enhancements, again to boost up melee defense.

- In tough situations with tons of mobs I do regularly cycle through Parasitic Aura, DNA siphon and Ablativer Carapace and have tried to max their recharge.

-Several of my resistances are low but it seems not to be a problem even against specific mobs.

- no endurance issues in any mode.

Questions:

Do I need to have melee def capped (is 40 +5% with barrier at all times) and if not where would you put it?

Where should I have ranged def?

I enjoy the fly + hover playstyle, but would consider something else if it boosts my damage or survivability, quality of life.

Any other tips/tricks/comments?

Bio is a hybrid set combining resistance, defense, absorb and regeneration. Its armors rely on resistance for S/L/T damage and defense for F/C/E/N/P damage. Note that its defense is typed, not positional. If you're going to chase defense, it should be the types Bio already provides (F/C/E/N/P), not M/R/A (which have nothing to stack with). Also note, while Bio does rely on defense for a portion of its mitigation, it has no defense debuff resistance (DDR) whatsoever. This means that your defense can be stripped away easily.

  • Taking Adaptation at lvl 49 is pointless unless you never plan to exemp.
  • Hardened Carapace should have 3-4 slots.
  • Radioactive Smash should have 5-6 slots.
  • 6-slotting Inexhaustible with Power Transfer is largely a waste of slots unless you're just chasing the set bonuses. The accuracy, damage and end reduction pieces do nothing for you. While slotting end mod is useful, you're missing out on the hp buffs that healing enhancements would provide.
  • Environment Modification should have 3-4 slots.
  • The Panacea +hp/+end proc shouldn't go in Ablative Carapace. It needs to go in an auto power or a toggle.
  • Evolving Armor, Maneuvers, Tough and Weave are overslotted.
  • DNA Siphon should be slotted with an Accurate Healing set, not a PBAoE damage set.
  • Superior Might of the Tanker is poorly placed in Genetic Contamination. It's a toggle and doesn't benefit from the recharge, plus the +res proc will only have a chance to fire every 10s. It would be better placed in Atom Smasher or Devastating Blow.
  • Don't bother muling Proton Sweep for melee defense (see above).
  • You need to take Mu Lightning before Ball Lightning.
  • Slot the Kismet 6% +tohit in one of your defense powers.

I should have mentioned that I was too lazy to put any of the powers in order :D

Almost all of my slotting was chasing the set bonuses.
