Dumluk Derptroll Posted Sunday at 03:10 PM Posted Sunday at 03:10 PM More of a developer's question. Is CoH supported on Linux distro's? Not talking about a VM on a Linux OS either.
megaericzero Posted Monday at 01:49 AM Posted Monday at 01:49 AM I don't believe it has native support, and has to be run through a compatibility layer like wine.
Psyonico Posted Monday at 02:42 AM Posted Monday at 02:42 AM This shouldn't be in suggestions... But to answer your question: no, it is not officially supported. That being said, there are a good number of us that run it on Linux just fine. I personally have run it on 5 different distros (Ubuntu, Fedora, Secureblue, Bazzite, CachyOS) Check out this thread for more details. What this team needs is more Defenders
Gerswin Posted Monday at 03:52 PM Posted Monday at 03:52 PM It runs completely painlessly for me using Lutris on Mint Cinnamon, and frankly think it runs better on Linux than Windows. I ended up with a half dozen each of 2018ish AMD laptops and barebones desktops with wiped SSDs after covid, and I use them for everything gaming, entertainment, business, and kids education that my windows desktops can do. I don't think I will ever purchase a Windows, Office, or Acrobat license again. Honestly, the only time I have ever had trouble getting CoH to run was on newer windows laptops, and the issues are related to DirextX, OpenGL, and the odd defaulting to integrated graphics. I (knock on wood) have never had even the slightest hiccup on any of my (14 and counting) Linux installations. 1
