Potential Trouble with Dark/Street Justice

Hello all,

Finally made my firsts tank (woooo) and I decided on going with Dark/SJ. I feel like thematically it works as a vigilante type of character with darkness creeping into the mental state justifying dishing out my own version of "justice." I'm mid 30's at this point and I'm just not 100% sold on the SJ. I mean the animations are great, but I feel like I have to take a bunch of the attacks, which kind of makes me feel like i'm pushing for damage, at which point my brain starts going "you should have made a brute." Any opinions on the synergy or lack thereof with a dark/SJ tank and weather the combo would be better served on a different AT? Also whats the deal with the 2 dark aoe auras, should I be taking both, 1, or none. Neither can lockdown tough enemies and I think 1 has a -acc to baddies so my gut says pick only that 1 up. Any general guidance on my choices is appreciated folks, you all rock (oh god should I have went stone jk)?

Update: Alright I'm going to keep him a tanker. I'm enjoying playing him and ultimately that is good enough despite the possibility of the combo being better served on a diff AT. Now if anyone wants to help with an end game build I've posted my current goal below! If you pass by Omidas on Excelsior say hi 😄

I think conventional wisdom is to take Cloak of Fear all other things being equal, although it's endurance cost is quite high.   If you have other stuns to combo with Oppressive Gloom, it gains value.

I'll leave Street Justice to someone with more experience on that powerset.

Anyone want to throw a pines build together that soft caps defense types. For Dark I take everything but cloak of fear and for Street Justice I take everything but combat readiness, power pools are boxing/tough/weave, super jump, hasten (not sure if I need this), and no idea for epic power pool. I'm thinking whatever helps slot for some defensive gaps. I've been playing with some dark/ build I find all over the internet but just can't seem to get it right. Any feedback is appreciated!

Edit: This is the current iteration of my build, critique away!

I have a street justice/willpower brute at 47 and a radiation/SJ tanker at 24.  I think that the set does more for brutes. It's chief virtue is that the lower tier attacks are fast recharging and fast animating, which is good for brutes and does nothing for tankers.  One of the attacks does -dmg on enemies, which suggests it has some slight synergy with resistance sets.  Another does slow and -def, which allows the slotting of exotic procs.

But it is all smashing damage, which tends to fall behind in the late game.  It doesn't really have powerful synergy with any tanker primary.  Since super strength is broken right now, if you want a punching set this is your best option.  If you want a character that feels super strong go titan weapons: that requires something like Willpower or Invulnerability that relies not at all on click heals for toughness.

EDIT: But every time I see a six slotted Taunt, I throw up in my mouth a little. One of the best things about being a tanker is getting to use your precious slots for something better than that.   Pull that out and put some accuracy in your attacks.  That will do more for your survival than any set bonus, especially given your endurance heavy primary and secondary.  Perverse slotting chasing set bonuses is less needed now than ever once Incarnates open up.

I appreciate your response. I did build this guy with the idea of being a true tank in the sense that I figured I would not be dealing much damage and was just going to soak up everything thrown my way. Picking up all the attacks to make the combo system work just kinda caught me off guard. Oh well I am going to stick it out (probably my favorite costume I've made so far) and hopefully someone smarter than I can grace me with a decent build for tanking any endgame content.
