  1. I've seen similar issue for my entire gaming life. A player new to the game finds it hard and time consuming to understand the economy. Seeing everything as out of reach. I noticed it in myself when I first started gaming in economy based games such as this one. I learned over time how it ran, its value, the value of its items and the value of becoming familiar with it. So that's what I did. I saw people chatting in general about stuff, what stuff cost etc. Saw the vast amount of items thinking I'd never get to know the entire economy. Well after nearly 20 years in this game (excepting the enforced hiatus) and equipped with the HC (formerly Tony5) wiki I am in a place of familiarity purely because of becoming familiar with it over time during everyday use. Nobody was born with the knowledge. Everyone had a first character. Those who stay and learn have the advantage.

Why wouldn't anyone want a graphical update?

8 bit gamers would not want a graphical update. There are a myriad of inferior games out in the world with much better photorealism and far, far inferior gameplay. There is the crux of the issue, CoH is comic book based from the end of an era of similar actual comic book graphical artwork. The entire game is an exact replica of a comic book style, not a photographic experience. It is working as intended.

  3. It IS the MOST playable game I've ever played. The customisability of the UI is incredible and NO OTHER GAME has the same pliability. I believe it could be my most played game by hours. It really, honestly, experientially has the most helpful community in any game I've played. It isn't without its faults and neither are aspects of the community at times, which has been educational AND comedic. I've watched people grow from live to today who have introduced their children to it who hopefully will introduce their own children to it one day, possibly already have.

We are gamers of as many varieties which exist and it is here where we congregate. Glad to be here, happy to be here, want to be here, am here.

    (complete fan obvs!) 😄

  4. If you are struggling with INF, then my best way to earn is to make up the recipes I get and sell them for the going rate on the AH. Purples and PvPs are affordable now, they were out of reach for most on live. I have found that in EVERY GAME that I have ever played over multiple decades of gaming the best way to accumulate game wealth, be it currency or items, is to play the game. The more I play, the more I get.

  5. I mained a DP blaster for 6 months. I usually go with toxic ammo to reduce damage, ice ammo to keep clockwork from running too far and incendiary sometimes if the general team dmg output is low. Mainly toxic though to be lazy, it works well in the mixed level content I play. The swap ammo options provide good crowd control and debuffs.

I agree that DPs can seem a bit weak if poorly slotted but the compromise is swap ammo. You could get more output at the sacrifice of set bonuses if desired, SOs would suit a one trick pony type of DP blaster well.

EDIT - if I was to make any change it would be to swap ammo faster.

  6. I mainly PUG TF/SFs to accumulate merits, recipes, salvage, iTrials for incarnate salvage. TFs are easy to get as everyone wants their TFC. Fortunately for me I get a lot of fun from the TFs, even Synapse 😜. Besides, from a Synapse their are tonnes upon tonnes of sundries to acquire due to the insane amount of foes to defeat.

Sometimes I'll take a character through a few Ouroboros missions for completion sake or a missing badge. I have some soloists I play occasionally and will slowly take them through the completionist grind.

Other times I'll just hang around AP chewing the cud with other players, mainly on Excelsior but sometimes on other shards, less so these days though.

I like to think I do any and all content at some time or other but TFs are the current winner for me.

Additionally I get involved in the annual events.

How would you know how many people were logged onto the retail servers? I don't remember Cryptic or Paragon ever showing those numbers.

Did you work for either company? If not then how do you know what the numbers were?

One could extrapolate a rough idea of player numbers based this historical account.

  8. There is one way to have a copyrighted character on CoH/V/GR. That is if you own the rights to the IP.

Several authors play our game who have replicated their own characters right here in Paragon City. I know as I have seen them. It is up to themselves to make them known though, not me.

  9. The only reason some of us support copyright in this game is so that we don't get shut down. We want to play, not to lose the game, again.

The latest IP dispute I heard was Luis Vitton (that overpriced garbage luggage company) attempting to copyright the letters L and V. All it takes is a C&D and it goes poof!!

  10. I make a greater variety of AT's with different powerset combinations. Slotting has improved massively with the wider availability of higher level recipes. It is far easier to make a rounded character which can have a reciprocal effect on good teams.

The community is also far better than it used to be, even though it was pretty good on live, there is a greater concentration of devotees now so I am more sociable.

  11. What we need is a court system and a prison system for Villain AT's where they can be processed by heroes and remanded in custody according to their criminal escapades. Also there should be a resident Mr. Big in the prison system as a lifer who can keep the unruly mobs under control with permadeath options for the most effluent detractors.

There should be  a points and badge system for heroes who put away the most villains with no recompense for miscarriage of justice.

You need to toss in some poker and craps tables, slot machines, and a brothel to go with those neon lights you enjoy so much.

Also, who are you to tell people how they should play the game?

The clue is in ' team' - the game tells everyone how to play the game. I say play how you want. If you want to solo then solo - if you want to team - then team. How hard can that be to understand?

  13. No it isn't.

But when it was released in 2010  I spent a lot of time working out how to get all of the badges without missing any by changing alignment correctly to do so., It took several attempts and re-rolling to do it and I had a blast during the process, finally being rewarded with what I had worked for. I don't know about the replayability of Gold zone but it is no more difficult than any other zone once you become experienced in the game.
