  1. The instance I heard of exploration badges and plaques on live when I 'free trialled' the game all of those years ago I was hooked (maybe it was an "ooh! Shiny!" moment). I've almost memorised all of the zones and still use Viodiot Maps location images to get the ones I cannot remember. These days I can do the whole map in 2-3 hours including gold/red/blue/echo sides.

It's so easy to just roll to another map for 5-10 minutes in quiet times and all of a sudden that's all of the explores done. Most count toward other badges and some toward accolade abilities. It is a well developed system of activity by the original devs and I'm glad HC see fit to maintain and expand it.

I seen a lot of toons over the years tell me they aren't interested in badges, in the knowledge that they give +endurance/+hit-points and other abilities. Personally I enjoy the activity of collecting them in the open world and the rewards they give.

Each zone with all explore badges collected gives 5 merits and a small  amount of xp.

  2. Armed with a thesaurus and t'internet I've never been stuck for a name. I like the exclusivity of a name in this game once I have found one.  Now, after centuries of the English language usage we still haven't run out of words, knock yourself out with your own creativity.

There is only one [insert your exclusive name here]

  3. I don't know how to word this without upsetting anyone/everyone or tempting some troublesome retort to my views in an attempt to nullify them. But it's like this....

....why join a team if you don't wish to play in one?

I have any number of characters who can solo TF's/SF's/Arcs etc and when I want to solo I won't play in a team. Contrary to that in this pretty easy game, we still have the 'glory seeker' - especially now with the large new influx due to our legitimacy. The glory seeker wishes to be on your team whilst not play as a team, even in a 'kill all'. They would rather away to the final objective as the rest of the team (up to 7 players) are transformed into the soloists' sweeping brush for 'those pesky required foes' thereby depriving our new influx from learning the game and its intricacies.

It only serves to show to a new player that once you you are fully slotted you can ignore your team mates and just take off to show off how 'GRAND' you are at the game with your 'ace' powers and enhancements.

STOP - solo the TF/SF if you want to, nobody cares and more power to you, but if you join a team play as a team.

Thank you for into. So not really like Live was at all. This version is more for cliques of friends or folks who want to solo. Good to know.

    No.

The advantage of SGs now is for storage mainly, collecting alts and if desired forming a small temporary specialising team.

A lot of SGs are so large that if you are an altoholic, by the time you return to a previous toon to run it again which was in somebody else's SG it will have been kicked. So not worth joining any other SG unless for a specific purpose and if you are regularly on without a break. That isn't how most play so they use SGs for utilitarian purposes as Shenanigunner says.

Are there any badges for getting all incarnate power options maxed out?  I mean get all the powers for each category maxed out (e.g. get all 8 Alpha powers, etc..)

I don't believe there are but I'm working on a toon to do just that regardless, because I can  😜

  6. One of the things I like about this game is that I can just jump into a PUG most of the time. It's instant teaming and most teams quickly learn to adapt and overcome weaknesses. I mainly level my toons through TF's - Task Forces. The long slog I did with my first character on live all of those years a go and it took ages as I was learning the game, lore, foes, intricacies etc etc. It can be a lonely place at first but the attraction to me is the teaming. It only gets better the more I learn and even today, 18 years after I first picked up the game I still learn, it's massive.

Feel free to elaborate if you wish because there is a wealth of helpful knowledge on here. But not everything is for everybody and there are a multitude of right games out there for the right player.
