  1. First and foremost, I appreciate 100% all the hard work that went into the development and creation of City of Heroes, and to be able to ask the original devs some questions, and will try to keep them as simple as possible.

Question 1 (Lore Question for Melissa Bianco/War Witch)

During Issue 20 and later, in First Ward, when the spirit of War Witch is resurrected into the physical body of Sorceress Serene after the defeat of Lamashtu; was this supposed to be the official resurrection of War Witch in the storyline? And was this what War Witch (the character) was alluding to when she told Hernando (Apex) in the end of CoH Comics BK Studios Issue #12? Quote "War Witch: Take heart Hernando, in time a new War Witch will look to you for guidance..."

Question 2 (News of the return of CoH in the form of Homecoming, all original devs welcome to answer)

What was your reaction when you found out that CoH would be returning in the form of Homecoming, that there was still both a strong following of the game and there still remains a solid fan base?

And to c ontinue on from my previous point; you don't necessarily need Longbow to carry out these dirty deeds. You could perhaps use the Wyvern - that's a gorup which doesn't get used all too much in the narrative wise. Perhaps the New Praetorians weed out a mole whose been abundantly within their ranks for years, kind of how Vangard sends out heroes to deal with traitors within Vangard ranks.

Again the idea is to build craft stories around the current groups settings and situations to then pave through a path from there onward towards a narrative(s) solutions for taking back Praetoria as a whole if in crawl-walk-run steps of "Hey we're setting up members for a regiment into taking back Praetoria"; Sometimes that may in-fact require the heroes to getting their hands dirty such with dealing with Crey permanently, or hell they could even use those PPD SWATs that always say "Paragon depends on heroes like you, someday I may requist assistance"<--- I mean that's a perfect narrative light I forgot never really may use of, start with this would be relatable with CoX gamers since it's core Paragon fiction grounded in setting we have, helping out the PPD or a off-duty that gets attacked maybe?! Conversely, maybe there are more members from those previous Knives of Artemetis missions that wish to defect! :classic_laugh: Remember it was the upper echelons that screwed up Praetoria, most of what was stable.

Also keep in mind, most stories are required to drag on, realistically speaking, you kind of need a build up phase before anything else, the likes of SWOTR's Eternal Empire Arc is/was a perfect example of a good narrative long story and the dev team could bring on members who that would wire in that light. What do I mean, I'm saying how they rescue someone important as times have moved on but mabe reaching out to people and/or build up towards for an Alliance as a possible idea.

I really LIKE where you're going with this idea! Theres' a lot of characters in Praetoria that we don't know what happened to them, some crusaders, some wardens and others that weren't spoken about ever again. Then there's also Primal Characters whose Praetorian counterparts I'd like to see, or flesh out.

I could def see Rogue/Vigilante perspectives on the Praetorian side :) so thus far we have SOME consensus that a level 50 zone in Praetoria with some contacts would DEFINITELY be in order :D

I do not want to see anything Praetoria etc added ever again. I still have fatigue from Live when all we got was piles of Praetoria rubbish over and over, issue after issue. Serenity now!

Sorry Mate, but I cannot agree with this comment. You must not have been able to glimpse very far into the heart, soul and dedication that it took to make what became the GOLDEN Gem that was the Praetorian Dimension.

Rubbish? Hardly, it was the story of a mirror world where things went south and all of humanity nearly suffered complete and total annihilation, to describe it as such does not reflect well on you.

I'm thankful this is just one of VERY FEW negative opinions....

There's MANY among us who LOVED Praetoria/Going Rogue, and who would love to see something in the future with Praetoria, and this is just my passion speaking.

It's too bad the new Dev team doesn't get creative. Add some unique stuff. The game needs a fresh feel. Adding on storylines from 2012 and before is not interesting to me. Add some new looks, stories, characters etc.

The devs DID come up with some new things on primal side mate, I'll list them for you since you have not bothered to check or maybe do not know (someone might have named some out already, but I'll go ahead and do so again): Sgt Schorr's Rogue Arc, The Vigilante Arc in Independence Port, Sister Valeria's Arc (brand spankin' new too!), Dr Aeon's Strike Force, The Post-Positron TF Arc (the one Piecmeal made), and its Redside counterpart, The Mapserver event (hilarious comedic) and YES even some NEW characters that didn't exist (the ones in the Aeon TF) and some more new Kheldian/Warshade stuff that just came out now! You literally CAN'T say that no new looks have come out because they HAVE, including the new costume contest zone that came out as well as the new monsters of the Devouring Earth (again Dr Aeon's TF).

We can always agree to disagree, and that's the high note I'll end this reply on...

  4. I don't like the fiendish, foul, conniving, ruthless, remorseless, relentless, *goes in a small endless tirade of adjectives to describe the redsider arachnos factions* shennanigans that the spiders like to engage in. HOWEVER...

I am 100% in favor of being able to change the coloring of all the power effects of my heroic, brave, steadfast *goes on a tiny rant describing the virtuous qualities of his bluesider arachnos alts* former VEAT toons :)

Yellow blasts of Crabspider backpack poison beams, blue blasts from the Mace Beam, or patriotic psychic colored blasts of a former fortunata turned seer.  YES I agree 100% with VEAT customization. Just not to be at the service of Lord Recluse... -.-

You're forgetting to mention that sets like ATOs and Overwhelming Force are unique and are not boostable. I don't think they should be considered for this suggestion because they cannot be used in multiple powers like Touch of Death can.

    Nucleolus Exposure Acc/Dam = 38.3% Acc/dam

    Superior Blistering Cold Acc/Dam = 33.1% Acc/Dam (Unique)

    Overwhelming Forece Acc/Dam = 26.5% Acc/Dam (Unique)

    Mako's Bite (+5) Acc/Dam = 33.1% Acc/Dam

    Touch of Death (+5) = 30.2% Acc/Dam

The set bonuses in Touch of Death are likely more valuable for many melee builds than the ones from Mako's Bite (melee defense vs. ranged defense). In order to get those bonuses now, you need to sacrifice 3% damage and accuracy. I don't really see the reason why this is necessary. You can use Touch of Death from lvl 25 if attuned. The minimum attuned lvl would be 30 if the set got a buff to lvl 50.

I think I understand a little clearer now... but still disagree

Then by doing this that means I gotta wait until the Night Ward arcs to be able to use that set, which I can already use if I'm doing the First Ward arcs. I was under the impression that by making Touch of death level 50 that it was going to follow the same mechanic as a purple melee set (Hekatomb?) which you could only be able to use at level 50 and not lower.

Either way, the idea of having to wait to get to level 30 just to use Touch of death instead of level 25 doesn't sit well with me because I don't farm, and I don't speed-level when I'm playing content, and right now with the pricing shennanigans going on with all the IOs in the auction house? Even LESS inclined...

  6. First, they might have to see if the animations and effects require that the gigantic spaghetti code be modified in any way shape and or form. If this is the case, then very likely there won't be an implementation of this until a safeguard is found that won't screw up a mechanic that might be dependent on the unmodified bit of code what might require to be adjusted in order for the new set to be added.

Its all about the big spaghetti code not getting messed up... :|

    Eh?

You got several Melee ATOs you can use at level 50 which you can attune that can give you similar bonuses, and by making touch of death level 50 only, you're making others put more effort into leveling than its worth for this set which I can use at level 36 (if attuned), and I don't like the idea of having to use some other lackluster set at level 36 when I can go ahead an purchase this one.

So NO thank you, keep touch of death as is, use overwhelming force or a winter set....

I would like to see the Giant Monsters difficulty raised so it takes at least 4 players to take it down. When players can solo them at 50, it takes away the fun for others. The Giant Monsters do not spawn quickly enough if this happens. There are too many times when I or others are putting a team together just to have a 50 jump in and ruin it. Also I encounter 50's racing to find the GM just to solo. Just recently I broadcasted in zone. while watching a 50 fight the GM and never got a team invite. I realize the game is not just for me, but that applies to others as well.

Another possible solution may be to have GMs spawn more frequently. Like every 2 hours.

Please address this. Thanks for keeping game alive.

Sorry, the answer is a big hard NO

Giant Monsters aren't soloable by default, and if you manage to discover a build to solo one, whoopty doodily Doo. It's not gonna hurt my feelings anyways, making them stronger will only turn it into an UNNECESSARY nuisance.

On top of that, it would take LONGER for Hammy raids to complete, we don't need that much more needless effort and half an hour added to complete it... Thanks...

Wait... so are there any PvPers in this thread at all?

I'll be honest and speak... Yes! I have done some PvP, HOWEVER it was only to further advance a storyline me and a friend of mine built up with our characters, and that actually turned out to be quite fun and creative. PvP when used with Roleplaying out a battle and building dialogue can actually be a pretty cool experience, and you feel like you're writing a comic book in real time. But PvP just for the sake of it feels like CO (Champions Online) and that I don't miss nor like

Bear with me, I'm not mocking your post. This is a trope I have read before on a few occasions and could be rather fun to see play out. The two bitter rivals are the same person or otherwise intimately linked such as by being twins. Is usually a fun story, even if a bit predictable.

Discarding my derailment of your example? That's a good RP PvP bit you provided.

Lol, I had to come up with a good example on-the-fly based on a real experience, so yes I had to get creative :D

Point being, PvP when combined with RP can actually work, but by themselves, well, only RP can work by itself and PvP only if combined with RP...

I remember years ago the old devs totally ruined street sweeping and used some excuse "hey we worked hard on hero story arcs, do them because we are taking away X% non-instanced map exp" or somesuch.  I do not know any numbers but damn

Saved civilians giving a single even leveled boss kills worth of exp/inf and a high chance of an insp

Increased spawn count for each party member.  no, your notoriety does not effect it

Hazard zone even more increased exp

    Why tho?

Because after 3 or so years I need an alternative to the task force super highway, council radios and firefarms.  And for those reasons, there is no reason to punish street sweepers.

    But,-

While The Worst Case Scenario of ye elden everquestian kill stealing may or may not cross your mind, it might not even be a thing after the possible-new-ness wears off

No, and here is my reasoning...

I'm under the impression that there are some improvements/additions planned for Architect Entertainment in the next page update being worked on which will allow for an even greater range of creativity in AE, and the sky is the limit as far as new content generation goes (given you know how to write dialogue and create plots and stories).

Pick the arcs you like most to do merits with, and integrate them into your character's storyline (if you're the sort that likes to leave his/her mark on the world), or farm. There's already XP buffs in Play 2 Win which you can easily use, no need to buff street sweeping.

    Just saying...

Imagine logging into Atlas with your brand new lvl 1 alt….. in the middle of this event

Yeah, that’s a big giant NO from me

As far as RP events go:

Excelsior, Torchbearer, Reunion, and Indomitable would have to be excluded because no one ever RP's in those shards (at least from my recollection I NEVER saw any RP going on on those), and Everlasting would be the only place to hold such an event as Everlasting is the Unofficial RP Server.

As far as PvP events go:

Indomitable would be the sole location for any PvP events of any kind, because it is considered the Unofficial PvP server, HOWEVER.... The PvP event could only work if you got two players who have a toon that has a rivalry with each other and the only way for said players to be able to work out their differences or fight one another (to advance their storyline) COULD work in an RP scenario if done correctly.

Allow me to elaborate "The Heroic super "Handsmacker" has finally had enough of his Praetorian evil scoundrel self known as "Handsmasher" trashing his reputation that now the two must battle it out in a brutal onslaught of combat, WHO shall win? Will the cunning and conniving Handsmasher succeed in destroying Handsmacker's reputation? Or will the valiant and noble Handsmacker triumph in reclaiming his lost prestige? TUNE in to the raging battle of Player vs Player!"

Aside from non RP, PvP Event may not work outside of the unofficial PvP shard, and outside of the unofficial RP server, RP will not work in the non RP servers.

But that's just my two cents

Here's how I could see it going.

Mender Silos is up to shenanigans and somehow, Galaxy City is restored as per a comment I made in another thread.

Dream Doctor has had enough of his arch-nemesis, and decides to make good on his threat to rend Ourobouros asunder.

Space/Time ends up with a new orifice, leaving cracks in the Continuum.

Praetorians in the past now find they have access to Ourobouros. Now they can use those Pillars of Ice and Fire without needing one in a base.

Praetorians also have access to connected realms such as the Shadow Shard, and the Echo Zones.

Praetoria itself, on the verge of being an Echo, now has new life as Space/Time energy surges into it.

Half a dozen players would take advantage of this content, including myself, while dozens more /jranger it.

I can roll with that, a long as NO BATTALION is ever mentioned, I'm not open to the Battalion

While tweaking the Goldside level ranges so folks can actually run through the pre-existing content without getting locked out of arcs seems like a good change to make, I'm pretty sure any future Praetorian content will be focused on the Praetors finding their way on Primal Earth (branching off from Provost Marchand story arc in Brickstown). That's also if any Praetorian stuff even gets focused on, given that there's a ton of Praetorian content as-is. While I'm not opposed to more Goldside stuff, when it comes to the Pre-War... the iTrials are over, as is the Praetorian War. The game had already moved on from the Pre-War content before shutdown (as had most of the players, given how empty the zones were/are). Pre-War Goldside is, effectively, a time capsule at this point narratively speaking. Any new content set in Praetoria would have to be about taking the fight to Super Hamidon, or some kind of dimensional breach where Super Hamidon brings that chaos to Primal Earth like what @Greycat posted.

The idea that I was trying to illustrate with the screenshots (which I made with Senticon or Titan Icon) was more for a scenario within said Oblique Aeon Taskforce (Counterpart to the Aeon Strike Force) in which an alternate Primal Earth you fail to save Last Bastion, The Hamidon uses Clockwork to operate the portal, and then emerges into The Hive (North of Woodvale) where it A. absorbs the Primal Hamidon or B. Convinces him to merge, and then the onslaught begins in Primal Earth as life itself is in peril.

Said alternate primal earth could collapse just as the alternate Rogue Isles Earth in the Aeon SF would, or it could actually be saved and the Hamidon stopped (cue from the Lady Grey Task Force).

    Just throwing it out there

As for the original topic... Praetoria just needs to be left alone, in its current condition. Tyrant nuked it, Hamidon resumed butchering humanity, and Wrongbow flamethrowers can't help fix anything. Now... a series of Shadow Shart-like zones consisting of Ripples? Shut up and take my money. Make one of those Praetorian-esque? I'll stand in line to ride that at least once.

Two words for this statement: Immature, and Irritating , makes it very difficult to take you seriously....

I disagree. I think it is in the Last Bastion arc, but there is mention by Hamidon forces to each other that the remaining pockets of humanity are gone. And Lamashtu and Serene are dealt with before Hamidon gets angry that Tyrant failed to uphold his end of the deal and decided to renew his attacks on humanity.

I'm not saying "nuff said" either. I'm saying that given how the story about Praetoria stands, the first thing that would need to be done is to take the fight to Hamidon. Which was part of the reason for saving Last Bastion anyway. So before Praetoria can be rebuilt, the fight against Hamidon needs to get underway. The rebuilding can even be part of the assault as additional FOBs will be needed.

We can disagree all day and all night and nothing productive can come from it, but if we're going with your reasoning then I will simply say that Hamidon has already been dealt with then, at least as per this achievement.

    https://archive.paragonwiki.com/wiki/Civilization's_Savior_Badge

And so I return to the topic at hand, which is rebuilding Praetoria and creating an Oblique counterpart to the Dr Aeon Strike Force, which could involve an alternate Primal Earth nearly falling to the Praetorian and Primal Hamidons...

I think galaxy city should remain destroyed and become another co-op zone as others have mentioned.

My personal take would be a lvl 50 zone and the shivans/neo shivans would be from lvl 50 to lvl 54+2.  The missions would be themed around regaining control of the area and pushing the shivans back.  I would incorporate the sirens call hotspot battles and recluses victory segmented zone control but in a co-op pve player versus shivan format.  Holding more of the zone gives buffs in the missions and the....dun, dun, dunnnnnn.....itrial!

A new itrial where you finally get to give the giant shivan the beatdown it deserves.  Enemies here may be 54+4 or potentially even more powerful.  Bring in all the giant shivan's buddies,  give them some new powers,  drop some new loot.  Maybe a new IO set or the next upgrade after d-sync.  Make sure you hold a large portion of the zone before you attempt to take down the giant shivan though or you may find the battle is too difficult.  Of course with great difficulty comes great rewards and some players may wish to challenge the giant shivan at its full strength.  Never fear if the zone is already under control when you want to attempt a hardmode run,  the challenge settings will let you choose to run the trial as if less of the zone is controlled.

I'd like to expand on that and add Mixed Primal/Praetorian enemy groups at level 50 such as a Primal Syndicate, Destroyers teamed up with trolls. Crusader Resistance with crab backpacks, Warden Resistance with DUST Weaponry, Longbow Colored TEST Rangers, DUST and Longbow Defense Rangers fighting against Arachnos. Just saying :P

  17. 8 minutes ago, Rudra said:

Before Praetoria can be rebuilt, Praetorian Hamidon has to be dealt with. Last Bastion is the only place I know of in Praetoria where humanity still has a foothold in there. Hamidon was basically wiped out humanity on Praetoria.

Having run through all the incarnate missions (from Belladonna to Marchand), seen/read all the dialogue, a lot of regions in Praetorian Earth are not mentioned, and I'm having a problem with just rolling with the "Hamidon wiped out everything, nuff said..." point because even Lamashtu and Serene proved to be a more serious threat than Hamidon in First/Night Ward, so with that said, I'm inclined to believe there's regions in Praetorian Earth that have survived the onslaught of the Hamidon. Hence my reasoning, which I've already referenced in another post.

  18. As the topic says, I'd like to see Primal Earth and Praetoria meshed a little more (be it new Praetorian Contacts for Task Forces or Praetorian Enemy groups showing up in Primal Earth when you complete certain storyarcs), and Praetoria rebuilt with the help of Primal Earth, and of course create some sort of alternate Primal Earth Apocalyptic Storyline complete with NPCs to explore (preferrably not just Vanguard)

Here's some graphical cues from Senticon to illustrate what I mean :)

    Atlas_Park_Under_Siege.thumb.JPG.683875336ea0a46539a86791524ed612.JPG

Then for the climactic moment of truth

    Primal_Earth_Last_moments.thumb.JPG.c8786354942d1c2f908778e2d4ab1ed7.JPG

And of course a moment when Primals, Loyalists, and Resistance fight Hamidon side by side, and shoulder to shoulder

    Primals_Loyalists_Resistance_Shoulder_to_Shoulder.thumb.JPG.85661b10f531aca97da8e6709fb0cd29.JPG

Praetoria's overdue for a little overhaul and the addition of a Level 50 zone, similar to Peregrine Island and Grandville, maybe create a zone with Devouring Earth Infested, and some heroic level 50 factions trying to keep what's left of Praetoria together (Level 50 Carnival Of Light and Powers Division survivors maybe).

  20. I'd like to point an Architect Entertainment bug that I've noticed popping up around the time Page 3 of issue 27 went live, and I will reference from a ticket which I've recently placed and was directed to post here:

From Ticket "After attempting to test story arcs for bugs and correction, I've noticed that while testing the mission, the Architect Options menu disappears and the mission switches to published mode even though it's on test mode and some ambushes are no longer triggering and certain mode toggles no longer switch from off to on (example: Invincible Mode)"

Another particular detail I noticed is that the Architect Contact toggles back to the holographic contact from the custom NPC contact after a while or after clicking on more missions.

At first I thought this bug was tied to one arc, but it seems its affecting ALL of AE, so I took the initiative and report this bug.

I've got several toon concepts I haven't been able to test because of this problem, and any assistance with this will be greatly appreciated.
