  1. On the topic of Tough/Weave yeah I kind of agree its a bit old school. Sure if you're needing a resistance armor to slot resistance uniques and dont plan to use a resist based epic armor I could see taking Tough/Weave for some mules. My set in stone pool powers on most doms are Speed, Leadership and Concealment. Last one varies but typically Leaping or maybe Force of Will if I have a powerboosting ability I can use for Unleash Potential.
  2. You're better served using the release to maintain great ST damage by using a Power Burst follow up to finish things off. When they first revamped NRG and Whirling did double damage with the release sure that was worth using but there was a 10s lockout on the mechanic. When they removed the lockout Whirling woulda been too good so they nerfed what Whirling did. The lockout removal gave Power Burst alltime top tier ST damage using the release. So I'd save my release for Burst and look at other powers for aoe. I adapted and looked in comparison at Whirling to aoe you could pull from epic pools. If you look at Dark Obliteration for instance it has a much higher target count, spread, range and faster animation for near the same damage per target plus you can load 4 damage procs into it with a high fire rate. You can do far more with an epic aoe blast than you can pull from Whirling. Then dipping further into Soul you can take Soul Drain which deals near the same damage and concept as Whirling but then it also gives you a hefty buff for 30s on your follow up damage. Comparing and contrasting ended up having me lean harder into epic powers to fill in for aoe damage.
  3. I mained a Mind/Nrg back on live before it was cool. I agree Mind does have lots of tricks up its sleeves with various mez timers they can play with. I used to get great use out of Power Push into Total Focus slotted for stun which then I could play with my prey. If anyone tried to save the mouse I had TK and all kinds of other controls to hold off any interlopers while I'd finish off my hunt. Unfortunately a lot more has changed since then. The damage output in particular from other ATs mez abilities with procs and proc bombs in general plus added survival abilities has made it real hard to justify playing a mez character. May as well play Ice blast. Mind/Fire was the OG king of dom pvp and likely is still.
  4. A few things. Not sure how keen you are on epic pools but dommies tend to have the strongest ones to choose from. Being that your Embrace of Fire beefs up fire attacks it'd make Fireball from the fire pool real strong and you can put some good dmg procs in it. Then you can take the armor and Melt Armor is a nice debuff. Then with Terrify I'd either put a damage set of 5 in it either the purple set or Posi's or if you dont need recharge, procs fire well in it too. You should be looking for damage from that one. I'd likely look to swap around the sets in the confuses, you can get some nice extra layering with the contagious proc. Plus you dont want that damage boosting proc in such a long recharging power. I'd also likely take Levitate and set it with 5 Decimations then you can take TK which works well in combo with it now. As for the pools I'd go speed, concealment, leadership and probably leaping.
  5. I have an Ice/Bio and a lot of Shield toons. Ice is a pretty strong attack set but its mainly the last two attacks you get that define it. Freezing Touch and the ice stomp are great attacks, then you take the obligatory first attack and Build Up. I do agree that early melee cone is above average especially for being a cone but I find later in the game having access to ranged aoes in epic pools like fireball to be far better options. As for shield yeah I'd take all the powers, the only one I could not see taking is Phalanx since your teeamates need to be on your lap to get extra benefit. I do like to have the t9 as an emergency use power and the crash isn't harsh, plus its a good place for a 4 piece Unbreakable Guard mule. Shield Charge into the icy foot stomp then follow up with a fireball. If there's anything left standing around you they must be cheating.
  6. I have one of these. Its a blast to play and looks super sweet with all those weapons. The melee attacks are real good so you'll want to get used to fighting fast and fluidly and being able to survive while doing so. Generally I like to build in a good amount of defenses melee and range while also aiming for at least 4 purple sets for the 10% recharge bonuses and usually 4 LotG's in defense powers like combat jump, manuevers etc. I'll also look to load procs into the attacks with the more suitable proc rates. I'll always put 3 procs into Dragonfly then 3 of the pvp pbaoe set with the -res so I get 3pts of kb resist, then I'll look to slot a zephyr and karma for another 8pts which'll make u pretty hard to kb while you're fighting. I also like to slot 4 procs into LRM since its such a nasty attack. Then Body Armor you can slot the resist uniques. As far as the blasts I like to proc out Suppressive Fire along with the Decimation proc so at times it can act as a BU power since DP and Nin lack that. I also have 4 procs in Executioners and Piercing Shot as well. Real fun character you'll want to move fast from mob to mob into melee so that means no Hover. You'll also want to be proactive with maybe some extra defense shielding like Demonic, Unleash Potential, Barriers, etc.
