Personally, I have always prefered MMOs and other games to ignore the real world, it's the reason I play them in the first place, to step out of real life.

I typically play almost nil during all the events in all MMOs, it completely ruins the experience for me.

I understand others are into it, I love that it brings them joy, I just find other things to do.

So if we put a pendulum in the Atlas City Hall entry over the nice big symbol in the main room, would it kill the tourists because the higher rotational rate?

only if someone incompetent, like Positron, or Synapse designed it...

  2. the cluster homecoming is running on is significantly more powerful than the cluster the game was running on on live, plus the server code has been massaged to run on newer and more efficient backbone software

TLDR loadwise I think Excelsior is unlikely to lag out unless player numbers go through the roof

Its more of an inverted Nightmare before Xmas type deal.

I don't even remember who that is or where!

    Just this giant worm

Mot is an ancient god of death and sterility, worshiped by those in Carthage. Following the destruction of the city by the Roman Empire, many artifacts bearing Mot's power were scattered through the world.(citation: police band mission items)

It appears that the god Mot somehow ended up in the area that would become Paragon City. Upon discovering the sleeping god, the Banished Pantheon immediately moved in to the area now known as Dark Astoria to attempt to wake it. Their attempts have thus far been unsuccessful.(citation: dark astoria description)

Mot takes his name from a real-world god of death.

though I was wrong he's not the trigger

It has been confirmed by Positron that the event is player triggered, and continues to be able to be triggered even after the end of the Halloween Event. The exact triggering mechanics are not known yet; a strong possibility appears to be a 20% chance for a Zombie Apocalypse (in both a hero and a villain zone) when costume salvage is redeemed at either Granny Beldam or Annah.

This event also seems to be triggered in a random Villain zone whenever the Virgil Tarikoss Strike Force is completed or in a hero zone when the Katie Hannon Task Force is completed.

Hey everyone!  Did you hear about this really awesome game?  Sure, it's a few years old . . . I mean, it's from another decade originally, but it totally stands up to the test of time!  It has an extremely dedicated fanbase who have fought tooth-and-nail to keep it going for all this time.  And while, for a long while, most folks had lost hope, early last year the unthinkably awesome happened and the game came back from the dead!

     . . .

City of Heroes.  I'm being slightly irreverently-reverent of this amazing game, that I am so thankful to have back.

I figure it would just be the most appropriate game to start this new board off with.  I mean, the entire rest of the forum is for City of Heroes, I know, but . . . I couldn't help myself.  I promise my next post here will be about a different game.

I feel their should be a spoiler tag...

From another thread commenting on the amazing and creative SG bases some were designing, I was thinking it'd be cool if there was a base building contest like there are with the monthly costume contests.  Not a base builder myself at all, but I think it'd be interesting to highlight (and reward) some of the best bases out there in some fashion.

    excellent idea! /signed

I wonder at what point we can get over the fact that the game is back and actually start asking for and expecting stuff? 99% of the good ideas on the forums never see the light of day. Everything is so slow and takes so long. People over in feedback and suggestions have to be getting tired of either being not herd. I guess, again, we should just be happy we can play.

see I would have said the rate of updates and changes is faster than it was on live

and usually breaks less stuff when it happens

Fair enough and players certainly could.  However, more "official" costume contests have been run and they are the only ones that can give out special titles and such as prizes.  They could also better highlight the winners that we could then check out and "tour".

all of those things can be done equally as well by players, and certainly player run costume contests have had titles as prizes (much easier to get a GM to spend a few minutes awarding a title than organising a contest) but probably the biggest suggestion I'd make, the GM's are more likely to do something like this if it becomes a thing already, thats pretty much what happened with the GM costume contests...

Guess "need" came across stronger than I meant.  Just a suggestion.

it was more, why do the HC admin staff need to do it? the vast majority of costume contents are player run, and there is no reason a player group couldn't  run a base costume

sorry if I sounded aggressive I was much more curious why you thought the staff needed to do it than anything else

I don't care what Sally says.

I'm thinking thats a cultural reference that I don't get, though Sally rarely says more than oooph as her sole hp is stolen away by some attack that probably killed her 1000 times over

I guess you could put the story friendly AE in the University Libraries.

Less cows, but probably easier since the story seekers will be the smaller group.

I'm starting to worry about your obsession with cows, especially in Croatoa as I thought all the farms there were Pumpkin... try and send a signal if you need help

apart from that I kinda like that idea, you could call the story ae's history lessons or such 😄
