  1. Not the best, but on Beast it sucks the least - since you can softcap Beast def with that power that stops them critting, but have upped their damage enough from Fulcrum that it doesn't matter that much.  Plus they like being in melee for kin buffs.  Necro would be sweet though - though I do like Necro/Bubble post changes.

  2. I had a Savage/Invuln stalker that was fun before the Hemo nerf but then I shelved and stripped him. Now I see Ston's thread about Pylon/Trapdoor times and comments like @Frosticus below that Savage is still holding its own.  Love to hear what people are using for builds post-Hemo nerf -- especially rotations/slotting -- and see if there are any tips on Savage/Invuln these days.   My old build (2020) is attached, but it's OLLLDDDDDD....

  3. We've all been there.  But I'd really like to thank whomever fat-fingered 50MM instead of 5MM for *2* of my Chance of Lethal IOs.  That's going right into the ol' college fund.🙏

I’m at 44 now, working towards a modified version of the build I posted above which will have softcapped DEF for Ranged, Melee, Energy and NE.  High Melee defense is -realllllly- useful for jumping into the spawn after I’ve already knocked them on their asses with Freezing Rain and pulling off a Soul Drain for my mini-Fulcrum.  With such crazy high  +recharge I’ll likely skip Burnout entirely and just take Tactics or something.

Endurance isn’t much of an issue now that I’ve got Dark Consumption fully slotted out.

This is a chaotic build, but I put an SD Knockdown proc into Jet Stream as it wasn’t helping me to keep things in my storm patch.  I’ve toyed around with totally respeccing out of that power since it’s a basic clone of Gale, but realized it’s actually more useful than Gale as it feeds into the whole mechanic of the Storm Blast set.

That said, I agree with a lot of the testers than Cat 5 is a bit of a head scratcher.  A T9 “nuke” that does almost all of its damage at the end of its duration rather than up front?  Steamrolling teams don’t even stick around enough for it to be useful.  Solo, it’s even questionable as to its utility.  I may (gasp!) respec out of it completely.  With high recharge you just won’t find it very useful for spawn clearing.  It’s a very creative mechanic for sure, but looks like someone did it to be cute and didn’t even consider the meta of this game is steamrolling teams.  If your nuke isn’t clearing the spawn quickly, it’s -not- a nuke.  It’s a wasted power pick.  I think what we are seeing with this blast set is the issue with development and testing with such a small user base.  Most of the Beta testers did their testing while SOLO, not teamed.  That’s the nature of having such a tiny user base.  And I’m sure the developer did most of their design around a solo mindset as well.  As-is, the powers work really, really well for a SOLO player.  At 40 I was already soloing +3/x5 and while I tended to solo more at the +2 level, I wasn’t taking much damage at +3…just whiffed more frequently.  But all my powers worked really well solo because I could play tactician.  It’s almost like playing a MM really solo….you control the powers being used and you can dominate the battliefield as long as you don’t pull too much aggro.  But teaming?  Good luck with anything but blasting and getting a LS or Tornado out for a Storm/Storm.  I have to be into the thick of the spawn really fast for Soul Drain but after that stuff dies too quickly for your reverse-nuke to even come into play.  It’s literally my least-used power when teaming, compared to all my other Corruptors where my Nuke is used as often as its up.

    As-is, Cat 5 is basically a severely gimped form of Blizzard…..in a nursing home…on crutches….loaded with painkillers.

Honestly, I have a build on Test server right now where I’ve swapped out Cat5 for futhermucking CROSSPUNCH procc’d out and you know what?  I’m actually FAR faster at killing stuff than I was with my T9.  And if I’m not taking C5, it really makes me reconsider keeping Storm Cell in the mix, which is a set-defining power.  And if I’m not keeping either of those….why am I taking this new blast set again on a Corruptor?  Maybe a Sentinel?  No wait….Sentinels as an AT need so much damn work this would be even worse.

I dunno gang…..really thinking that unless they nerf a whole bunch of other powersets to bring them down to this level, this is a meme/theme powerset only.

I don't think you need to soft-cap yourself - you can get to ~32% ish and 1 small purple will carry you to softcap, and you don't have to devote so much of your build to soft-cap. Plus if you team a lot, chances are someone on the team will have +Def buffs.

Your comments about Cat5 are alarming though.  Especially if a proc'd cross-punch is helping you clear faster than Cat5.  And to your point, if you give up Cat5 and Stom Cell, what's the point - especially if Chain LIghtning is as shitty as ppl say.  I meean, I already have a crappy Storm/Energy Def (Mishkin's +rchrg) build....

  6. I'm a bit at a loss for Storm/Storm/(X).  Here's a build that gets to 33% ranged and melee def, with Mu taken for Power Sink and Conserve Power to deal with end issues (though they'll persist at lower levels and perhaps can be offset by base buffs and Recovery Serums).

I don't really know how to slot the Storm Blast powers or what procs in them do - I've seen lots of comments here about how the set proc's badly.  Especially on Chain Lightning not sure about other powers.  What do procs like +end do in Storm Cell - only proc on initial cast?  Hardly seems worth it.   I don't even know how you're supposed to look at slotting Storm Cell besides for recharge / acc.

Can't tell if building for 33% ranged/melee def is also overkill and if I should just go for Teleport/Fold Space - or even up the Force of Will tree for Unleash Potential which when PowerBoosted (hello Power Mastery epic) gives spicy +def to all plus the recovery boost to switch off with Conserve Power.  (I use this on my Storm/Nrg defender).

Anyway, curious what folks think. The attached build was edited from some ideas here like Crysis build and some others, I just poked around at it.

  7. Someone's cornering the market on PVP IOs by constantly bidding up all the recipe bids in increments of like 300K -- to the point where they've taken the craft-n-sell margin down from 60%+ to maybe 35%-40% now.  That's a lot of bidding across all PVP IOs during weeks, so I assume they have deep pockets and don't really care about margin (e.g. rather than up bids from say 2,000,000 to 2,000,010 like normal people, they jump to 2,300,000 to squeeze people out, then when you go to 2,300,001 they go to 2,600,000).  It's working for me, as having to sell 2x as many IOs to get the same profit kind of takes the fun out.  Quite a few players have the resources to do so.

No need to click on a pet, correct. And how many spirits it summons is dependent on how many of your henchmen are still alive at time of summons.

I think they have to be within a certain radius of you as well.  If they're too far away (but still alive) they don't get counted for spawning spirits.

Soul extraction pops a bunch of spirits, pretty much doubling your pet numbers and dps....provided you click on the right pet and the others are close by. I usually save it for clicking on the Lich when all pets are in melee, i have accidentally clicked a t1/t2 a few times before the rest of the pets caught up and it only popped a couple of spirits which is a total waste.

The personal attacks from the mm have a % to spawn a spectre which has a taunt aura. dps is almost non-existent but it will hold aggro for you. Taking personal attacks is totally up to you/depends on your playstyle/secondary/how many slots you have available/power picks left. With necro i always try to fit in at least 2.

I use macro's to control the pets, i hear keybinds are far superior and infinitely more flexible but i just like having a button in the tray i can click to put the whole bunch of pets in specific areas to avoid mass aoe's or just to stay nearby for buffs.

I don't think you have to click on a pet anymore? It seems I can just click SE without targeting a pet, and it spawns spirits based on # of pets in range when I click it.

  10. NecrobubbleMM.mxdThis is what I'm running ATM if useful.  PB+Clarion for sheilds.  I usually PB+shields at least whenever I Soul Extraction, so the summoned pets get bubbles too.  Missing IO in SoulExtract is Unbreakable Constraint +Smashing.

Everything is weaksauce compared to fire blast because the secondary effect for defenders in fire blast is...more damage. Ice is not that much more damage than energy on a defender unless you are leveraging FR + aoe goodness, which you CAN do with torrent on an energy blast defender.

I would invest some KB>KD procs in energy blast in a team play build so that nova and torrent don't drive your teammates bonkers short of you being a kb expert that can push the spawn to the middle of the kill zone. (Good stormies don't knock foes out of Freezing Rain 😉 )

Yeh the build in question has a lot of KB->KD.

Doing some quick testing on a DP/ Blaster with the procs mentioned prior between Live/Beta, I got the following results from 20 hits each on my training dummy. The Total is the total damage dealt, AVG number is the total damage / 20 shots, the % is the % of the total damage, Hits and Proc % show how often an effect went off:

    image.png.c66d36af68042209fb23179494d794a7.png

    image.png.6775e6b193e92477e694afb0ddb2f546.png

In this sample of only 20 shots, the damage dealt by the Live version is about 17.22% more than the current Brainstorm patch. Looking at the proc rate, this could be due to Neuronic randomly not proccing as often as the others... if we game the system a little bit, we can see what it looks like if Neuronic procced just 6 times like Ghost widow did:

    image.png.847b2eaca50f49f262a5a0deb5d46235.png

This adds 215.22 total damage, and makes Live only 13.5% better damage.

This is without any added enhancement, but what I forgot was the Blaster ATO does enhance recharge, but with it's super high PPM I figured it'd be good to test it out. This could be why Neuronic got some worse rolls on the Brainstorm set of 20. A further test with more shots (100 lets say) would show better averages. Speaking of damage and enhancement, lets take a look at these values if we just straight up replaced Neuronic with an Acc/End enhancement:

    image.png.cd385c9756e1e2d924b06896dbeef647.png

With 5 procs, the big difference between the two is highlighted as the advantage of live drops to 5.4%. On Brainstorm, the majority of damage is always coming from Suppressive Fire itself. This is where stuff like Defiance, Assault, or just Damage Enhancement comes into play. Interestingly, the changes between Live and Brainstorm did alter Defiance where I had a higher average with Live than Brainstorm by a few %!

Lets recalc these though as if we slotted a Thunderstrike Acc/Dam instead of an Acc/End though, giving the power a 26.5% damage boost:

    image.png.c3a22faa14d9d88b6ba0ba9fe0951025.png

With a non-SO level of damage enhancement + Defiance, adding up to 49.5% on Live and 47.5% on Brainstorm (Avg), Brainstorm managed to out-do Live this time by about 2%. With an SO level / Superior Blaster Acc/Dam, the difference grows close to 4%:

    image.png.4b3356ec3d59ec4ff524ceb9c8653dd9.png

And with an Apocalypse +Damage, it swings to a clean 9.75% in favor of Brainstorm.

    image.png.d2d099c1cebc118f1935c9a0cc5f5fbe.png

If I replace the next worst proc (Ghost Widow) with an Apocalypse Dam/End for even more +Dam the difference skyrockets to nearly 25% in favor of Brainstorm:

    image.png.b40dbcd54b76c6e87ad1b2a8eca52ae1.png

In fairness though, lets compare the original Live proc-bomb version to the one with 2 slots dedicated to damage:

    image.png.0ccb815aa66de29258e05f3f395e1752.png

    Basically equal!

It also cannot be understated the damage percent that you get out of each version when you *DON'T* proc. On Brainstorm, if you do not proc anything you are still doing 40-56% of the potential damage, while on live you are looking at 2-5%ish at best which could lead to critical fails of a sort as seen where there were a few times I didn't proc.

What this sample + math shows to me, is that on average the new Supressive Fire affords more slotting flexibility compared to before where Damage sets could be used to good effect while still being able to toss in procs. The much bigger damage allows for outside buffs to greatly influence the power, as does the boosted recharge allow you to toss this near-equal damage out way way faster.

I do not see the issue on the proc/damage side *specifically*.

Supressive Fire regularly triggering Decimation Chance of Build-Up on LIVE is something I didn't see in your tests -- it's a big help for a set that lacks Build Up, and the effects last long enough for 1-2 fast attacks including Hail of Bullets or (if MC) Eagle's Claw.

The damage from a storm Defender primarily will come from the storm summoning set. The energy blast is there to help keep force feedback up to maximize recharge of freezing rain, tornado, and lightning storm.

Fair enough, I just end up blasting a bit between FR, Tornado, Thunderstorms, debuffing, etc, and the energy blast stuff always felt pretty underwhelming.

Happy Easter, I have no eggs, so here's some murder fresh from Brainstorm.

Trapdoor doesn't do the storm/storm justice, lots of setup and you don't get to make full use of the storms as much as you would on most other maps. Buffed AR is pretty sick though.

Can you share your AR build? I've been dying to make an AR toon for some time but always have been held back by the issues with the set.

Phoning it in today because Easter, I'll let someone else experiment with if soul draining C5 is even worth it for this test.

Still, 2 mins first try, not the worst. Amps are on.

Seems like a single immovable enemy is a good fit with Storm Blast as on beta.  From what I see in threads, people are more concerned about perfomance in fast-moving groups?
