The only change I'd like to see to confuse is have it count as a Control Power for Controller Bonus Damage (which even though I play mostly controllers I have totally forgotten...) 😄

Can we do that for pets too then?

Anyway, I consider the confused as pets, that's why I think the xp penalty is kinda unfair

you can see then in Icon by a simple "-n" addition in one of the file locations

What do you mean by adding an -n in the file locations? Do we change the file names?

Edit: never mind there are enough images in page 2 to show how it is done.

Just a curious ping to the Devs, is this something that is as easily done as it seems?

  3. I know that there was a discussion about this before sunset and tbh i thought that they made a change to it in favour of these powers

right now if you confuse mob1 and it hists mob 2 you get less xp from that mob2. now I get that you should get none if your don't damage mob 2 with one of your own powers, because you are avoiding agro. But i think that you should get full xp if you are fighting along side a confused mob, and are doing damage yourself.

because of the xp penatly associated with confuse powers, I hear a lot of players say that they don't use the power in the higher levels anymore.

I think it's a shame that a power is chosen less because it costs your XP.

no new purple patches no new nerfs

I remember the purple patch, that was a dumb decision:

Before you could hit a purple even +8 but you would do piddly damage.

So what we did was double team up as level 10's and seek out and pull a single outcast. Hit it with all we got from 16 players and play high risk high reward. It felt like a mini hamiraid.

Then purple patch hit and the - to hit made it so you would never ever hit a purple past +4. And in the low levels even that was impossible.

    I hated that patch.

  5. Gotcha intrigued didn't I 😉 (if I didn't you would be reading this)

With all the customisation in the game I find the option we have for teleport to be falling behind.

Would it be technically feasible to use the costumechange emothes as teleport animations? I'd say most all of them are perfect for the job, wether you disappear in a puff of smoke of a murder of crows, all good with me.  the animation times might be a hassle, but i think that even with normal tp you can cut the animation short by popping the next one  immediatly.

the science ones with the bottle and the injection might be wierd, but I'd do those too, just because it is counter intuitive doesn't mean someone can't make a cool backstory out of it ( a teleport injection or potion anyone?)

What do you think? Worth trying? technically feasible?

My Storm/Dark/Dark Defender is, in fact, named "The Stormy Knight."

His bio is about his being a literary character from an alternate universe -- Paul Clifford, from Edward Bulwer-Lytton's pre-Victorian novel Paul Clifford that introduced the cliche "it was a dark and stormy night..." in its opening sentence.

In my retelling, Bulwer-Lytton winds up getting contaminated by radioactivity (dating Marie Curie, it's alternate universe remember).  Thus it's absolutely to be expected Paul would become a super hero -- he was, after all, written by a radioactive writer.

That is hilarious and truly creative!!

Glamoure has been born! She is a level 22 dark dark with a new back story and her second costume in place.

"Pandora Lacroix was a fashiondesigner at Icon dissatisfied with the world in general.

Villains wearing cheap knockoff costumes, always red and black, heroes knocking you off your feet scuffing your new high heels and fights getting in the way of your morning latte. Enough was enough!!!

Pandora sought power to rectify matters and found herself in Croatoa based on rumours she picked up in Icon. She was captured by otherwordly creatures and taken to deep caves.

There, bargaining for her life she demanded not only her freedom but also the power to defend herself.  The captors leered at her from the dark, amused by her brassy demands, and offered her a wish.

She should have known better, faerie wishes are never what you expect and there is always a price, even if you don't know you're paying it...

The Lamps of Tuatha de Dannan fuel her power, granting her dominion over shadows, dark spirits and even the souls of fallen red caps and Fir Bolg. All creature who wielded the  Lamps before...

Pandora calls herself Glamoure now and fights the evilly unfashionable, the wearers of polyestre capes and the cliché of the red and black villain."

Keep in mind that what we're talking about are trademarked characters, and there is no Fair Use for trademarks.  What folks seem to be talking about here is copyright law, which is irrelevant.

You cant trademark a character's look, you can trademark his name.

the look falls under the copyright law.

    Quote

Trademarks cover comic book characters' names and logos. Any character's name or logo used on products offered in commercial trade may qualify as a trademark. A trademark generally contains any combination of original words, signs, symbols, phrases and designs. A trademark may not contain generic or merely descriptive terms, such as "bat" or "man". However, the character name "Batman" qualifies as a unique combination of words and the Batman logo qualifies as a unique design. Registration of comic book character names must not infringe on other trademark owners' rights.

  8. I just installed yesterday and really loved the trip down memory lane.

I found that when entering atlas City Hall or a mission door, the game exits to desktop.

    No messages or anything.

I'm playing the 32bit version (old laptop, clean install) on win10. The game does warn that my gfx driver is old (but duh, the laptop is 10 years old). I'll look into that today just to be sure.

Anyone have ideas what it could be?

  9. On the business side:

-I'd like to keep your current transparancy, community involvement and willingness to listen/work with the community (which is a breath of fresh air)

-if a steady, and greater, source of income is needed i'd rather pay for a subscription than for microtransctions (the free to play made me leave the game in the first place)

-security from ncsoft being able to pull the plug again. (or anyone else)

    And on the game side:

-improvement of current gfx quality in general

-new costume bits (including npc costume parts)

    -new powers

    -new story/mission content

The business side ones are the most important ones IMO

And there's the issue of aesthetics to consider. A fair number of people build what they think is cool, or looks good. Is ice armor as bad as it looks in the popularity chart? Or is it just that people think it doesn't look good? Popularity of a power does not necessarily dictate its performance relative to other sets on the same popularity chart. Although, perhaps it warrants a different form of discussion if aesthetics is the primary reason a power is unpopular.

Finally there is the phenomenon of a bad reputation. Outside of PvP stalkers were considered generally fairly underperforming for the majority of their time on live. I would say that they are no longer underperforming much, if any in team content. Yet they're still the least picked AT after EATs by a notable margin. Is this due to them underperforming? Or is the AT play style just undesirable to the majority? Or is it the reputation that they were just bad nudging people's choice away? Some combination of the last two more than the first, I'd wager.

Long story short, numbers aren't everything when it comes to popularity. Better to examine why something is unpopular before jumping to the conclusion that it's purely performance.

    I completely agree with this.

Popularity is a poor way to measure balance. For one the arguments above stand, for another some powers are staples because of their functionality.

Asking why a set or power is impopulair is valid, but be wary of the easy conclusions...

  11. Lol, you're all making this decision soo difficult!

I'm actually thinking of dark/dark after reading the proc monster thread (even though I don't fully understand the mechanics of proccing) or maybe dark/storm (though harder to explain thematically)

I think I'll leave illu to the wayside in favor of something new....

    One week waiting to go!
