If you're a scrapper with a Taunt aura and you're not level 50 (or a Brute and not hanging out near the resist caps), and you're trying to solo, you're likely to die a whole lot in this mission.

On the flip side, my Controllers, Defenders, and Masterminds (who are all support/pet support focused) have been having a blast.  If you can keep your allies alive, the mission is almost trivial.

I remember when I first played CoH on my potato computer back then. These days I can set max for everything without issue 😆

Yeah, I ended up buying a new computer (that could just barely run CoH) because the one I had was a .2FPS slideshow during combat.  When I came back to Homecoming I set everything to max just out of curiosity...  and, wow.

Though I am finding the start of the wedding mission or a Rikti invasion sometimes turns into a bit of a slideshow, but that much going on in that small a space is something of an anomaly.

If the Live game had kept going, I imagine most of the major Blueside zones would have been upscaled with newer assets by now to be like Kallisti - similar to what was done with the Atlas Park revamp.

Though I wish the game hadn't died...  I'm very glad we were spared that nightmare coming to life.

Farming for massive amounts of inf wasn't something too many people knew about

Oh, we knew about it.  But given the insane costs for all but the most useless set IO's...  (Heck, even desirable common IOs could get pretty spendy.)  It just wasn't practical for any but the most hardcore.

Note: this is officially unrelated to any actions the Homecoming team took

My friend you took pains in the first post of the now locked thread to deliberately and intentionally draw a clear and bright line between having actions taken against you and you making objections to in game content.

Please don't treat us as if we lacked reading comprehension and thus misunderstood what you so clearly said.

Your best bet likely would be to talk to one of the already established video game type Cons that host games/game rooms and see about working CoH into their event schedule or venue space.

Most (all?) cons allow people to submit applications to host a panel...  From there, the decision is on the con staff.  It's a dice roll, but one worth trying if the moderator is ready just in case it does get accepted.

Getting more than a panel is likely to be tough.  There's only so much space, and when you're talking a Comic Con or similarly scaled con there's a lot of demand for it.

Having ran a Con for two years out of pocket with just my game group as staff I can honestly say that the hours are long, the work needed to keep it all going smoothly is exhausting, and it is really easy to over-extend beyond your budgeted finances.

I'm a member of a group that puts on multiple events a year, so we have processes in place and thoroughly understood roles - and it's still rougher than I think many people realize.  (And there's a metric buttload of details that aren't always obvious to the attendee.)

Hardcore has existed for a very long time, and has always had an ok sized fanbase.

Speaking from experience, the latter statement is absolutely not true.  Siege Perilous (a hardcore shard when compared to than the main shards) on UO was always a ghost town, with a population a miniscule fraction of that of even the smallest main shard.  As has been repeatedly pointed out, it's not popular here on CoX either - hard mode players absolutely represent a sub microscopic fraction of the user base.

If hardmode is so popular, then it should be easy for you and other proponents of this idea to demonstrate it in practice.  Build an SG, a coalition of SGs, that play exclusively hardmode.  Rather than continuing to (demonstrably falsely) assert that it's universally popular - prove us wrong.

Keep treating new ideas like this over and over again and it might just eventually kill the game again.

We don't treat "new ideas" like this.  We treat "[censored] awful ideas" like this.

They aren't no, but your average CoH player tends to be a bit older and likely /literally/ does not watch twitch and likely wouldn't know Hardcore WoW is dominating it atm.

Don't know, and don't care.  WoW is not CoX.  CoX is not WoW.  Two very different games with two very different game design philosophies and two very different user bases.  And that's setting aside that "popular to watch" is almost certainly not equivalent to "popular to play".

The difference between military RANK and game LEVEL is that upon gaining a promotion, someone in the military doesn't have their accuracy or durability automatically increase.

Military promotions are accompanied by increased authority (significantly increased at certain steps).  People also treat you differently, I was taken much more seriously as a PO2(E5) than I was as a PO3(E4).  They may not grant game effects, but real life isn't a game.

Similarly, JOB TITLE LEVEL 3 does not make you more competent at your job description than you were at JOB TITLE LEVEL 2. Hopefully, the title was awarded upon proof of increased competence or dependability, but it might also just mean having the right cousin, or blackmail photos.

Sounds like civilian promotions are pretty much like leveling in game.  Hopefully you get the promotion because you've gained and demonstrated experience and knowledge while performing your job.  Or, maybe, you were just a door sitter in a fire farm and don't even know how to leave Atlas Park.

Nobody is trying to "teach" anyone anything.  We're simply having a discussion, and if you no longer wish to participate you can simply stop reading and replying to the thread.  It may or may not carry on without you.
