Only difference there's no money being made off it this time around... big difference.

If you're referring to one of the factors considered when determining whether or not something is Fair Use - yes, and no.  That is one of the factors, but it's absolutely not a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card.  (And factors is the correct word here, it's not a checklist.)

And it's not really relevant here, because the thread title is wrong.  The actual issue isn't copyright, it's trademarks.  And there is no Fair Use for trademarks.

  2. Two quick questions:

    1) Do non-Archetype (primary/secondary power) attacks build Fury?
    2) Does fury's damage bonus apply to non-Archetype (primary/secondary power) attacks?

A Prismatic Aether is a nice reward idea.  It's an easy sell on the AH without needing to get into crafting.  And I like the idea of showing new players the principles of how to put a team together, because with the CoH and CoV ATs all available it's a little overwhelming.  I'm not sure this is the right way to go about it, though.

It's not, because by and large it's not new players that are forming TFs/SFs and paying attention to what ATs are being hired in.  At best, they're going to see the "Bonus Eligible" icon pop up and eventually learn that means they're going to get a bonus.  They might eventually learn a little by osmosis, but that will be in the context of "earning a bonus", not in the context of "this is a superior team".  (For an arbitrary definition of "superior".)

My personal dream Kaiju fights are to have a mission (preferably in an arc or TF) where we get giganticized and have to fight a giant monster on more even footing (The trick here being to use a miniaturized map of an existing zone, like Talos Island or something... but with a silent power affecting everyone giving every attack a chance to cause KB, and eliminating everyone's KB protection. It's thematically appropriate).

Sounds like somebody has been watching old-skool Ultraman,,,

You're right, because the Contact Finder can actually override any requirement settings on the Contact if some foolish developer flags it to be visible there. Once you teleport to contact the deed is done.

I popped out of a mish door in the RWZ, and the white circle with the ziggy-zaggy explosion star around it popped up on my map.  Clicked on it, followed my nav ring, and it took me right to the contact.  This character has not previously done the Doc's arc and does not have the Patient Zero badge.

I ran Keith Nance's doppelganger arc on an arsenal control/arsenal assault dominator, and the doppelgangers possessed no attacks or abilities.

I'm sure an NPC version of these powersets will be implemented before release, but still, wanted to give a heads up.

For visibility, you should probably post this in the beta bugs subforum or the arsenal control threads in the focused feedback forum.

Other games with "spaghetti code" have managed to upgrade graphics to try and update it for todays generations.

Were the full teams with proper support, or small volunteer teams operating in their spare time on a shoestring?  I mean, you cite WoW as an example, and as wonderful as our team is - they're not even comparable on those terms.

Regardless, not everyone cares about speed.  Taking a little longer to complete a mission does not make a bad team.

Precisely.  And almost all the "excessive time" runs I've seen have been because where were too many lowbies sidekicked up too far and too high a difficulty setting means they're fighting purples that they can barely hit and barely scratch when they do hit.  Those are true drudgery.  Everything else, nah.  They might be "slow" by some arbitrary standard, but they aren't by any reasonable measure.

So what server are you on?  How has the increased server population affected you?

Something else I've been seeing with the population increase...  The City seems more alive.  I mean, I was out back of beyond in KR running some missions, and while I was loitering near my mish door, a team came out of the door after me - and another team formed up and headed in.

People were talking about testing below level 50, so I logged on with the only non-50 character I had on Brainstorm. I saw something that made me think that there was something a little different than what I was used to at that level, but I think you're right. I think I was just misremembering.

Coyotedancer was talking about soloing in the 40-50 range, I was talking about having teams with a higher proportion of sub 50's.

  11. - When completing/exiting the tutorial mission with Flower Knight, you do not get "return to contact" and a pip on your Nav ring.  This matches what happens on Live, but if we're concentrating on the new player experience, perhaps now is the time to look at that.

    - Ditto the colors of the arrows over the heads of the various contacts, there's quite a bit of weirdness and inconsistency going on.  Need to run the tutorial a couple of times to see if I can express it better.

@lemming  Yeah, with the jet pack and athletic run, it's actually pretty easy to get the extra two badges.  (Even if there are places that a new player probably shouldn't try.)  The barrier to getting them isn't having them available, it's figuring out how to use your travel powers and how to find where those badges are.  (Maybe it's time to import some of the things that are on the Vidiot Maps maps into the base game.)

That being said, I think the new system is inferior to the old.  Players have to travel outside of Atlas to get destinations to TP to, so there's no particular reason to have to travel outside of Atlas to earn it.  But on the flip side, yeah, we need to introduce players to the idea that there's more to city than Atlas...

it usually goes south at the steps to city hall.

Aye.  If it didn't go south right before that from the team splitting up to head for different targets and ending up aggroing half the map...
