    My Psi/Bio is a brute, and I took [Telekinetic Blow] there. 

     

    My x/Psi Tank is a Shield/Psi, and I didn't take [Telekinetic] blow there... and I'm not entirely sure WHY I made that change. 

     

    I think it was because [Psi Blade] has a recharge debuff and [Telekinetic Blow] does not... and the character was an update on a concept I ran as a Shield/Ice so I think I just made sure I used every slow-recharge debuff.  

     

    So, sure, performance wise [Telekinetic Blow] works better.

  4. I have a few builds for Elec/Elec brute in the Archive, updates on a character which I actively ran back on the Live Server:

    The only Tank is an Elec/Rad; and it was a concept that I never made. 

     

    As far as commentary on the two? Well, I'll attempt to quote myself from an archived source on the subject of Elec Melee:

     

    The reason for this departure, especially on a Power Set that I was actively working on very recently, is that I loathe Electric Melee. Having tried that power set on a Brute, then a Tanker, and then a Stalker; all three highly optimized to soft-capped defenses and high recharge rates; I finally came to the conclusion that I really just hated the Electric Melee set.

     

    Elec Melee is cursed by the same terrible performance as other "Elemental" sets. The Live devs handled elemental sets with kids gloves, massively under-speccing the damage components due to the "non-damage" effects, which in the case of electric was the endurance drain. Only enemies cheat on endurance drain. Many having been recorded casting their most powerful alpha strike on ~1 endurance tick. The energy drain is also so little, comparatively speaking, that even if you slotted nothing but endurance modification and took Agility Alpha Incarnate you still couldn't reliably drain most enemies to stop attacks. 

     

    So you're basically trading off nerfed damage for a utility that has no real-game affect, even if you couple that utility with stronger endurance-draining powers. 

     

    Now, I believe PowerHouse is aware of Elec Melee's underperformance, but PowerHouse hasn't displayed a tendency of just adding damage flat out to underperforming sets. So I don't know what he or other members of the powers team have on the table to do with Electric Melee, if any plans at all as of yet. 

     

    Electric Armor, on the other hand, is a beast.  Even the Brute version can go toe-to-toe with Tower Boosted Recluse without needing a dedicated buffer. But while a Brute can get 80% resist on S/L/E/F/C damages and S/L/F/C/M soft capped defenses while cranking ~40hp/s regeneration

     

    A Tanker version can hard-cap S/L/E/F/C damages with soft-capped S/L/F/C/M/A defenses and ~44hp/s regeneration. 

     

    If I were making one today? I don't think I'd actually make an Elec Tanker just because, well, Tanker's need an overhaul in general. Sure, they have more survivability than brutes, but the delta between survivability versus offense is lopsided in the Brute's favor. You'd get 95% of the survivability with greater damages. 

     

     

  5. The "Hidden Server" had a number of different methods for handling entirely new players to the game that may not be practical for Homecoming.


    For starters as the "Hidden Server" was based on a Debian-Style Invite Process and as multiple accounts were verboten it was feasible to grant each new unique Global Account 2 billion inf. The Hidden Devs also reworked the merit-per-time rewards, changed the drop-rates, and routinely ran "Purple Rain" events with increased purple drop rates. The online GM's would also, at first, routinely run monster-mashes where the GM would spawn mobs or enemies with badge attachments to simply the process of pursuing accolade badges. While ambush farming was prohibited due to the processor-intensive nature of the game's ambush sub systems, the Hidden Devs did tolerate passive farming. Another change that was nerfed on the Hidden Server and thus never experienced here were unlimited Level 50 re-dings. 


    The result was that even completely new players to the game, likely the children or spouses of original players, could afford to make their dream build and obtain otherwise PITA badges. 

     

    Generally speaking, a new player could run up a decent fire-farmer, kit them out fairly well with their influence grant, then just go to town on Level 50 re-dings to gain the merit rewards to enhance up subsequent builds that the player would be interested in. 

     

    I'd also note that the atmosphere on the "Hidden Server" was different than that of Homecoming (or other derivative servers). It was not unusual for the power-farmers to broadcast an open invitation for a power level. 

     

    Here? From what I've seen in broadcast and global channel chats, it seems to be a return of the Live-server behavior. Nobody announces a power-leveling session for new players, and in some cases I got the distinct impression that if a player can't contribute to a farm they aren't welcome.  

     

    I don't have any good ideas on how to re-implement some of the steps the "Hidden Server" took to make it easier for new players to get into the game. I can hope that by bringing up what the "Hidden Server" did that actually worked, and worked for literal years, might convince the Homecoming Devs to think of ways they might implement or encourage those kinds of changes.

[Irradiated Ground] does not yet support Archetype enhancements, and as no indication has been given by the current powers team on when ATO's will be enabled for all currently Disabled-but-Eligible-Powers, I went into a quick Revision 2 to better optimize for the available powers. 

     

    At the top end you'll be packing Soft-caps to S/L/E/N/F/C damage types BEFORE casting [Energy Absorption]

     

    [Hoarfrost] is at Perma without [Hasten]: 120s recharge on a 120s timer. So with accolades up you'll be pushing ~3499 hitpoints with ~35hp/s regeneration. 

     

    The energy resists are pathetic though, so this isn't a build that can go toe-to-toe with Tower Boosted Recluse. Keep a jetpack handy for that AV fight.

  10. Well, since this is a backport, and not anything I ever used, I'm not sure I'm the right one to ask on attack chain. 


    In terms of DPA/DPS you "generally" won't be using [Jacobs Ladder], [Thunder Strike], or [Lightning Clap] all that often, in some cases a strong "If Ever" might apply.  The slotting on those powers are generally for IO buff bonus's only. Lightning Clap is just mitigated against Knock because: A: I could mitigate it for knock without impacting the build negatively and B: for some debuff happy enemies you really need a way to buy yourself a few moments to cast a utility power or lay down some damage

     

    The average single target chain would likely be [Havoc Punch] / [Chain Induction] / [Gloom] / repeat, throwing in [Charged Brawl] if you get stuck waiting on timers/animations to leverage Tanker Bruising. 

     

    The average mob chain likely would be open with [Lightning Rod] :: [Chain Induction] :: [Dark Obliteration] :: single-target against boss :: [Chain Induction] :: Utility - e.g. this is where you may throw a [Thunder Strike] / [Lightning Clap] / or taunt to buy some recharge time / generate mob aggro, or perform another utility power like trigger your destiny, [Dull Pain], [Hasten], or move your [Darkest Night] anchor:: [Chain Induction] :: [Dark Obliteration] :: and by this point even on tanker level damages you PROBABLY should have dusted the mob and gone back to single target to focus on the remaining boss enemies.

    With Agility Incarnate in play you'll be toddling around soft-capped to S/L/F/C damage types against a single target.

     

    Against a mob you'll add in Soft-capped defense to E/N; and also be into solo-Incarnate-Soft-Cap on S/L/F/C

     

    Oh, and you'll also be .5s off of perma-hasten, at ~120.5 recharge on a ~120 timer. A single pass of [Ageless Incarnate] and you'd be in perma-hasten.

     

    You'd also have perma-[Dull Pain], ~97s on a 120s timer, Which with accolades in play would slam you beyond the 3534 Tanker Hit Point Hard Cap while driving ~34hp/s regeneration.

  12. If you're intent on going after Lord Recluse, I'd drop [Hasten]. pick up [Darkest Night], and move the +resist proc to a single target power. Then in the fight I'd drop [Darkest Night] on Recluse, taunt him, then go stand next to the Blue Tower and knock on the blue tower to build +resist, and benefit from the RTTC regeneration buff for multiple targets. 


    Alternatively, as shown in this quick build, you could just 5 slot [Shred] out and pick up some extra ~Mez Resists.

    At the top end against a single target you will be regenerating 115 hp/s. 

     

    Against a saturated mob you will be turning in ~190 hp/s. 

     

    You'll be near the 3534 tanker hp cap with accolade enabled ~3413 hit points.  

     

    Now, that being said, I never tested the WP/Staff the WP/SS build was based on against Tower Boosted Lord Recluse. I really don't know if this build is capable of withstanding [Channelgun]

     

    Also: the build is kind of built around Passive 70x; placing the +Resist proc on the PbAOE.

    What does "Passive" mean?

    On the assumption that you are familiar with the Atta-Caves map which is used in 70x-style fire farms, as the map loads you activate various patrols. The construction of the map creates a limited number of junction points that a large number of the patrols will cross.

     

    "Passive" builds are capable of setting up at one of these junction points, placing a single power on auto, and then surviving the patrolling mobs with no further input from the player. This implicitly means a build capable of withstanding a [Junction Storm]; a scenario created when there are no minions or lieutenants left, aggro cycles hit the reset clock, and all available bosses que their alpha strike for an enforced hit. According to various calculations a [Junction Storm] can spike to ~2.5k~3k damage, with ~1.3k to ~2.5k Sustained damage. 

     

    Generally speaking the minimum level of survivability to pull this off without active heals is ~22hp/s regeneration, 80%+ average resist, and 45% (softcap) defense. 

     

    Also generally speaking: it's an incredibly slow way to earn rewards, but if you have problems with lag or limited play-time, having a passive-capable build can (generally speaking) get you at least some in-game rewards such as Enhancement Catalysts, Enhancement Converters, I-Salvage, and Influence with minimal game interaction. 

     

    Passive builds won't make you a DemiGod that can solo everything, but generally speaking, most of the passive builds in my Archive are good for more than just the synthetic combat conditions of the 70x-style fire-farms. 

  17. A quick update on a Shield Tanker designed for 70x passive.

     

    Since this is actually based on a Shield/Ice I ran this build attempts to fix some of my practical play issues with Tanker-Shield-Ice-R3

     

    The overall largest change was to bring in [One With the Shield] to set up an alternation-option with [Melee Core Hybrid] to handle Tower-Boosted Recluse. I haven't tested this approach yet, but at least on paper the framework should be capable of fending off Recluse until the Damage tower can be dropped by even slow-dps teams.

  22. This is a collection of builds made over the course of the existence of the "Hidden" server. I'd apologize for taking so long to make this available but many of these builds received adjustments to make sure they loaded against the most recent release of Pine's Hero Designer. I also have attempted to standardize the naming format and scrub any global name or character information that may have been included in the files. 

     

    That being said there are some notes on the name formatting. In general the format follows as:

    • Archtype  :  Primary Power Set  : :  Secondary Power Set : :  (Tertiary Power Set])  : :  Revision : :  Revision Number  : :  (other identifying information)

    The general outline of the (other identifying information) is as follows

    • Alpha, BravoCharlie, Delta :: these tags indicate minor changes that were saved for comparison values.

      SCD :: Soft Capped Defense :: self explanatory. 

      SCLR :: Soft Cap Level Revision :: The build was adjusted to achieve a Defensive Soft Cap at lower levels for the mid range TF's like Citadel, Katie, Hess, Manti, or Eden Trial.

      Beta :: Generally speaking the few Beta builds were actually made and tested, but were quickly changed and likely never originally posted to the "Hidden" Server. 

     

    Generally speaking the Revisions are identified as:

    • R :: Primary Revision

      RR :: Remix Revision

      H :: Hold - a retired build

      DE :: Damage Edition

      DR :: Detuned Revision - I think I only used this once for a Stone Tank going to a Stone Brute

      DB :: Dual Build - used on a few brutes and tanks. Basically when I got a build that was really good at one task, and then I wanted to make something a little more suited for general play.

      RS :: I have no idea what I meant with RS. It's on at least one defender. I think it was Revision Secondary.

     

    Other notes: While cleaning these up I merged the list of builds I personally ran and the list of builds I made for other players. I also kept in builds my Concepts folder that I modified or used as reference from Other Players. To protect those players who were on the "Hidden" server their names have been stripped and those files labeled with Other Player.

     

    Builds that are labeled Concept generally weren't ever made in-game. Or at least I never made them. Well... most of them. 

     

    *The Knock Warning*

     

    I'll spare Homecoming my rant on why Knock effects suck and why most knocks should be replaced with Repel. I will note that anytime you see a [Kinetic Crash] you should swap it out for a [Sudden Acceleration]

     

    As of the most recent update for P.H.D. the [Sudden Acceleration] set is being treated as a unique proc set, but the proc shouldn't be unique. So some builds have been updated to reflect the slotting of [Sudden Acceleration], so just be aware of that if you are using a knock-heavy power set. 


    *The disclaimers*

     

    I'm not claiming these as the be-all-end-all of builds. Most of my personal builds were constructed within the in-game economy of the "Hidden" Server, where many of the changes made to the games reward system allowed even casual players the capability to construct a dream-build. You know, instead of the Live Server where dream-builds were a gimmick for those players who did nothing but farm all day. These builds are not going to be practical for servers that re-implement the Live-Game economy 1:1.

     

    So, do be warned, there is a fundamental opinion of how this game should be played that will affect the viability of actually replicating a number of builds that I made. I bring this particular subject up because the in-game economic viability will impact what a player can afford to build, and I shouldn't have to say more than Casually Purpled Out Warshade for players of the Live Server to understand that perspective. 

     

    There is another factor at play in the viability of the builds I made for the "Hidden" server. There are any number of other players who can likely come up with builds that have better overall survivability, better offense, better (insert stat here). Different players have different perspectives on what they want to get out of a build.

     

    Most of my own builds are also built around concepts of [Sustainability]. I'll spare the Homecoming Server the original rant, and just shorten that rant to say that in most cases my "Finalized" builds should be capable of driving all toggles and powers in Real Play sustained combat. Notable exceptions still being the Ice/Rad controller and the fire/pain controller. Actually just all my controller builds in general all tended to go Support Hybrid / Ageless  for the endurance.
