Just from personal use, while all shards were three red all weekend, there wasn't any queuing. At least not for the two new shards. So while a fifth shard might be useful, I don't think it's quite at the QoL influencing stage just yet.

While I've seen several familiar names, none of them were RPCers. So unless they've taken a new global and/or haven't appeared on globals or LFG/Help I've not seen any.

I don't know if I'd call it 'the strongest', but I had a 50 Bot/Trap MM prior to shutdown. Traps is more involved then the other secondaries I had tried (at the time anyways) but it helped that most of it is/was fire-and-forget. The FF drone helps boost up the Prot-Bot's bubbles as well so there's synergy. Traps had tools to cover nearly every required debuff for hard targets and with the right location and time, you can pull spawns into a veritable killing field before the bots even get started. Downside is the recharge on the the traps and their end costs vs odds of them being triggered.

It was to fill out the Single Target chain to ease the End costs that cones/AoEs spike some for the occasional 1 target.

Part of the (I think) Excelsior patch notes in the Announcements board. Nova's get the T2 blast even while shifted and Dwarf's get the T1 blast.

Disregarding various RP sessions (RP not ERP thank you very much) one of the moments that even now, years later, brings a smile to my face is an incident on my Elec/elec Tanker on a max slider difficulty Freakshow mission with my Sonic/Sonic Defender friend. Large cavern and utterly /filled/ with +3 LTs and Bosses and minions. Splash damage eventually killed the defender leaving just me. I shruged and just kept at it. And kept at it. And kept at it. Some 10 minutes later my friend was still laughing on the floor as I was still standing and fighting. We tell people that Rei (my Tanker, Alpha Rei) took on all of the Freakshow. What made it even better was that Rei was part of a background concept group of characters across the SG as Crey genetic experiments who just don't give up and won't be told what to do. So standing alone in a cave facing 'hundreds' of Freaks to keep a fallen friend safe and pulling it off? Straight up their ally.

I am assuming you are only asking about the Defender primaries of Time Manipulation and Nature Affinity and are asking about the two in comparison. If so I can side in on Time/ as my Time/Rad was hell on wheels by 50. Granted I also was making a direct effort to gold plate her. Got pretty close too by Sunset. Perma-Hasted and kissing the soft cap for positional Defense all on her lonesome, which since she had a dedicated Elec/elec brute running partner wasn't a concern and allowed her to keep both toons running high. As for Nature, there I'm more limited as my experience with that set is only on the MM side and didn't get into the 30s. While I can say it's a solid support set, I didn't have the chance to really see what I could do with it aside from theory-crafting/playing with Mid's.

Unless there was a change from Sunset, when you cross from Preatoria you chose hero or villain before crossing and enter the map at your level. So a Goldside 21 blaster could enter as a Redside 21 blaster. No contacts, no newspaper/scanner. Anything that's below 21 you'll have to do via Oroborus later.

Mmm.. CoH may not have, strictly, been my first MMO, but it was the first one I actually put time and effort into. Started with WoW and two weeks later it was uninstalled and cancelled. CoH comes along and I start it and play it every day unless directly unable to until the Sunset. Other MMOs since then include: World of Warcraft (in shifts of a couple weeks with months between rounds) Star Wars: the Old Republic The Secret World/Secret World Legends Final Fantasy 14 Black Desert Online Champions Online Neverwinter Online Star Trek Online DC Universe Online Though the bottom 5 are barely a blip now.

Something to keep in mind with this as well, you can get have to chose between Ninja Run and Beast Run for free. While you can get the other, it'll cost 100k Inf (Or a million, can't be sure off hand) If you want to change it, however, you can return any of the 'exclusive' prestige powers and change them for another.

Set your destination to just the top level of City of Heroes folder. I just installed that way and logging in shows the modified maps as per old.
