I have on MM, bots/FF because I heard it was easiest. I second that it is pretty sturdy, and kind boring.

Any MM will be boring with FF/Sonic secondary, to be fair... I would get REALLY into Targeting/Attack macros/Pet Focusing if I were to play a MM with them as the secondary, as there just isn't a whole lot to do - but I know that level of micro can be pretty fun for some people, so that's where those fire and forget sets tend to shine.

I never tried this combo, but FF is typically a dull and boring set.... pairing it with a low AoE set like necromancy. . . .I have to ask, do you have any sleep problemss you want to fix? cause you will fall asleep!!!

    Jk tho.

FF is one of the best sets for  survivability and zombies also are nice with their self healz, it would pair well I guess, just dont expect to kill large packs of monsters fast.

altough if you want to kick ass with zombies, I`d recommend /dark, /thermal , / cold or even /sonic

    or go bots/FF or demons/FF

I like Necro/Sonic - and sonic with Green hues is pretty nifty for thematics 😜

  3. I play a Savage/Fire Brute farmer  - which does decently well for what I need it do it do, but take that into note as I talk about what I like and dislike with the set...

I don't have Hemorrhage, as it isn't conducive to my farming - but I liked it on my Stalker, so there's that.

That being said, as a Brute, I feel the primary is really there to get the last ticks on the AoE after Burn, which is pretty depressing.  Savage leap isn't as bad as people originally led me to believe, but it  lacks the oomph you feel from like, Lightning Rod... in fact, that's my biggest complain about the set: the SOUND is incredibly lacking.

The animations are cool, the graphics are nice... but the sounds... well, Savage Leap reminds me of Meg's finger nails from Family Guy when she got super powers in terms of the sound it makes, and the slashes ALWAYS sound like you're whiffing, even when not... I would revisit these if I were responsible for them. It has a big impact on the way powers feel (I think that's why Electricity feels so good despite being pretty boring overall).

I'll chime in on this point: Once you get to level 47+ you should only go with 2 slots in Hasten, each with a lvl 50 IO Recharge, boosted. I believe you only have to boost each of them to 50+4 to get as much self-slotted recharge in Hasten as mathematically possible (barring planning for Slow/-Recharge effects, I suppose) given Enhancement Diversification.

I have two approaches to (perma) Hasten. I either go for it, or I don't. 😛 Given the ATs I play, it is actually somewhat rare that I build for perma-Hasten. Dominators are the AT that have benefited the most (for perma-Dom), with a Crabbermind (for spawning pets and attacks) the next AT that benefit from perma-Hasten. Any toon that spams a lot of attacks certainly can appreciate more (global) Recharge.

If I'm close to Perma-Hasten, I will try to get past the point of Perma just to avoid the Endurance crash...assuming that the build can re-trigger Hasten before the crash. Mileage varies of course.

how do you boost an IO to 50+4?

  5. What about something lkike this? Some optimization would help!

You are correct.  Thorns in general is the least popular Dom secondary and Electric/Thorn is tied for the least popular combination.

I think most people, like me, that might otherwise like Thorns are turned off by the redraw of the attacks, with no option to disable the redraw as you can with other draw-heavy animations.

Do you think anyone might have the stats that I should aim for? Could try to build for it in the builder myself, though I suck at IO balancing.   Just trying to get something started for it with at least a target (like getting to Perma Dom, for starters lol)

What Recharge %, soft caps, etc should I be aiming for?

Oooh Archery! Is rain of arrows a pseudpet?
It was my understanding that most DoTs scourge chance is calculated at cast, and not recalculated over time?
Or are DoTs preferable because they'll (essentially) tick twice as fast once they're in the scourge range?

    I don't think it's calculated at cast.

  8. Anyone have an energy FF build at all? It's purely thematic - cuz I like Energy blast, so I know what i'm dealing with under that primary...

Anyways, help on slotting (and making its end manageable) would be appreciated. 🙂 Thanks!

It's not necessarily *only* a matter of raw AT power and team efficacy driving those numbers, though. People enjoying different things also plays a part, I think...

As effective as they may be, not everyone WANTS to play a Brute with its go-go-go style of Constant Smash.

Not everyone wants to stand back and do crowd control instead of blowing the goons sky high.

Some players may not feel comfortable constantly juggling powers between three different forms.

Not everyone is into the idea of micro-managing five nutball Ninjas or a pack of wolves.

Also, not everyone plays with an eye towards running on an 8-player smash team...

Stalkers and Sentinels are very good soloists and small-team characters. Those of us who prefer that playstyle aren't as common here as full-team and league players, so it makes a certain amount of sense that the ATs that really shine in that setting might not be as common as the Blasters and Scraps and Tanks that are great in larger groups. That doesn't mean that a Stalker sucks or that a Sentinel is useless just because there are fewer of them, or because they don't shine in every single situation. It just means they're a different kind of fun.

Noted; but underperformance is notable in the core of the game. You can bring up their other aspects (with team scaling etc) without affecting their soloing lifestyle, which ultimately doesn't affect them at all should they choose.

Power gamers are going to exists. You can nerf one set or buff another and people will just move to what power games the best. Do we really want something like a Ice/ff controller farming at the speed of a Rad/fire brute? Is that the ideal of everyone can do everything equally? I honestly prefer how various ATs and builds serve different purposes.  FYI, partly due to me not taking a control power in my epic, soloing my Spines/fire to unlock the Patron Power Pool was one of the most painful things I have done in game and that includes soloing defenders and lower level controllers to where I simply auto completed the mission on one controller.

Power gamers are fine; the disparity though is staggering. It's a super hero game, though at the end of the day-- which helps lead to why brutes/tankers are so popular - being unkillable with high damage is pretty fun for people. That being said, it doesn't mean the others have to be equal, it just needs to be balanced a bit more. Nerfing isn't fun for people playing those (which is a LOT of people lol), so buffing to feel "as fun" in the strength department is a good tool to use.

While fun is subjective, being weak is not necessarily fun for a large majority of people. Do I think a Defender should solo as fast as a brute? Nah, that can be a strength of the brute -- but it shouldn't be 100-0... 😛 Anyone with a defensive set 50 (FF, Sonic, etc) feels the drop off in usefulness in groups that are already def/res capped without them.... 😕

IMO as soon as they figure out how to do "negative knockback," FF needs to have a crush/gather power that jams enemies within a certain radius onto a single point, making it easy to herd them for other folks to blast.  They also need a sort of "Force Cage" power where you have a circle radius at an area, and any enemy who tries to cross it gets knocked back towards the middle.  Like a ring of mini versions of the Earthquake pseudopet.

  12. So the question is, what do we do this data? We've seen several changes to Brutes etc but their overall play compared to some of the other classes is staggering (including Fiery aura, even outside of the farmers, it just goes up...)

Blasters are pretty obvious - they're the highest dps range, and controllers do what controllers do --

so what are we going to do for Dominators, Stalkers, Corruptors, Defenders and Masterminds?

Masterminds are a hard one - you lose the roleplayers in MMs, because hero MMs are lacking lackeys -- you would need to create a set of like, Angels or Fairy's or something to appeal to that audience... (Angels sounds like it could be a cool MM set, lol); they're also clunky, which you've guys have been working on fixing so maybe we'll eventually see that go up -- but pets need a MAJOR boost to survivability in Groups - think that's your main opportunity; it is not fun to constantly resummons (let's say, Zombies) every pull because they instantly die. I'd target that as a scaling group buff to make them pretty much AoE-unkillable in groups (Scaling Def or Resist/both based on party members so at a full group they can't die to AoE, because well they shouldn't... in groups).

I'm betting the data shows Corrupters and Defenders start to lose steam in the 30s, where being able to insta-kill things just starts to see them fall off... Not really a fix I can think of, but they need some something -- mass nerfing is pretty hard, but a lot of the defensive sets lose oomph as people start to gain a lot more self-survivability, so we see things like FF just die off; Sonic needs some power retuning -- Liquefy, for example, just pails compared to a lot of lower level powers from other specs - and the end drain for support is pretty taxing early on (their attacks need some power discounts built in, I'd wager - to encourage more blasting [ more fun] without affecting the rest of their role.

I also think FF//Sonic could use some graphical adjustments, preferably taking some of the other bubble graphics and making them into options for FF/Sonic -> specifically thinking the paragon shields FFs looking a million times better than "bubbles."  Also need to add some distinction between Controller and Defenders, as if people don't wanna blast they tend to go the controller route, which adds a lot more survivability than the blasts from defender; either nerf controller secondary mods, or some damage changes for Defenders would be a good idea.

Dominators lack that extra defensives, so maybe start to incentives Doms for attacking - like adding +mag stacks to self or something for attacks so they can get stronger holds if they attack more. Also, perma-dom should be more accessible, which would help a lot for people wanting to get into Dom (a dom with perma dom vs not with perma dom is a HUGE difference - to the point where I won't even a play a dom until I get enough gear for it to get perma dom these days). ALso some sets need some re-design to be more dom friendly (Look at Savage dom secondary usage -- it just doesn't work as a Dom Secondary).

Stalker is pretty screwed, even though they reached a point of high damage, they're just a different style of play than the rest of the game. Not sure if that should be changed, as it's pretty Niche -- but the clunkiness of their assassinate is probably what I'd target. It could be made to feel much more fun/engaging if we get that working nicely... Perhaps make them all NINJA VANISHES/Ranged abilities that you can channel into the teleport with a much shorter cooldown so you can start bamfing all over the place... (which btw a teleporting spec for Stalkers would be sweet, lol)

As for the Soldiers/Widows/PBs/Warshades… well, PBs and warshades are a bit too complex for the every-day player, and they just need to be buffed up in the individual roles (similar to what wow did to hybrids) - some specialization passives would be nice -- like a power that makes you much tankier/etc at the cost of doing less damage/nerfing you outside of that form -- so that if you want to play a "Tank" version of a Kheldian, you can do that rather than just being a neutered tanker. The time has come to make them into actual classes rather than forcing the hybrid (which could be argued is their point, but it's obviously not working - despite the inherit flaw that those types of ATs always suffer from due to not being part of the main set of roles).

Soldiers and Widows... are very niche in their fun aspects. Hell, I'd even wager you might want to just keep them as "Classic Widow/Classic Soldier" and then add a 3rd option for them both when they pick a spec that has some of their own/interesting powers, as being a team buffbot with toggles and looking to get level 12 powers as your lv32 power is pretty lackluster.

We'll never see these play rates change except slight fluctuations unless  we start making some steps to fill the holes that we KNOW exist and have always existed.

Archery is one of the few sets I've never played, so which attacks would you like in it? Or do you want me to choose based on the info in mids?

You can choose, my hero! Im assuming you could use Explosive for the KB recharge Proc to get more Tstorms? But yah, feel free to choose whatever works!

So there are now enhancement boosters that used to only be available in the real money shop on live I think? Anyway, you can now buy them for merits or on the AH for around 1.2-2 million. You apply them in the enhancement screen like you used to combine enhancements. You can only apply them to normal crafted enhancements and not the attuned versions, but you can always apply them to normal IOs. In the build I sent you, I used +5s on the recharge IOs, LotG enhancements, Performance Shifter end mod, the heal IOs, and the accuracy IO. You apply them one at a time, so you'll need 70 for the build I sent you to complete it.

    got it 🙂

  16. Can this be made less silly? it's 200% cooldown

Here you go. Ideally you'd have perma overgrowth, but the defenses are worth the loss in recharge in my opinion.
