Just tried this... I can only get 39.1% with the exact slotting you showed, plus some more...and now I see why. I don't take Spirit Drain.

I have a AR/Pain Corr and I absolutely love running Oppressive Gloom for free!
I rolled ice/pain but now you have me wondering what AR/Pain does damage wise.

My Ninjas/Cold (pre Ninjas update) used all the Fighting pool attacks, and while it wasn't like I was doing amazing damage it did let me be more active in my playstyle which increased my enjoyment.
The main thing I learned from meleeing on an MM is that you really only want one set of pets in Defensive/Bodyguard. Put the others in Aggressive so they don't take the chip damage from the aggro you're pulling. Being Pain Dom might compensate with the constant healing, but Bodyguard ignores all the +resistance buffs you throw out so I would still be wary
So build lions for defense and put them in bodyguard, while the wolves are in aggressive mode? Sounds fun.
I know oppressive gloom is not that effective end game wise, but general gameplay it's pretty fun and useful. I find myself teetering back and forth from the edge of defeat, but my pets seem solid enough that I don't have to recast them often. If I do, I bit off way more than I can chew. Which is also fun. I think if I had another friend running Oppressive and Pain Dom it might be really great.

The one I hated but tried so hard to love was Dark/Savage Dom. The concept is cool but it fails hard. At least for me.

Energy Blast/Kinetics or Kin/EB...
I mean, I love me some chaos and KB, but I tried this one and even I have my masochistic limits...
I ran kin/energy on live all the way to 50. Pinball Wizard. I definitely disagree... But my Kin now is a Kin/Water Blast. Silver Tsoonami

proper magical practice is a science, not an art. if a spell works it's because it is a repeatable routine that conforms to hidden laws of the universe. physicists are just wizards.
That's like... Your opinion...heavily so

I would also love some opinions on Fighting Pool for MM's. Specifically the damage from having Kick+Boxing+Crosspunch. I use Crosspunch a lot. And I use the others too. The idea is I'm a melee toon with pets.
But, I could save a power pick and slot those 4 kinetic combats into Brawl instead. If the damage scaling isn't that noticable on an MM then I could manage picking something else instead of both boxing and kick.

Slot the Panacea proc in Suppress Pain. It will have a chance to proc on allies in the radius, including yourself and your pets. World of Pain is easily perma'd. Be careful to not overslot it, as after about 4 pieces of Unbreakable/Unbreakable the returns are not worth it. I personally want Painbringer up as much as possible. Definitely worthy of 6 slots...with only one of those slots being an Endurance Mod/Recharge piece. The other 5 go Healing IOs. The end recovery bonus is PLENTY with just the 1 piece.
Thanks, moving Panacea proc to Suppress Pain is easy enough to do, and frees up a slot for that end/rech.
You gave me back two slots to put elsewhere.

I only play with petless MMs if a minmaxed sentinel gets into my team I tell them I'm sorry but they gotta go.
I mean this would be a fun team. A minmaxed sentinel and a petless MM?
Just add a hideless stalker, and an all melee blaster and you're good to go

Literally read this thread to laugh at Diantiane... because I'll never, ever take them seriously or care otherwise.

So I built a fairly sturdy MM on the test server with Beasts/Pain/Dark. I also focused on the Fighting pool, taking the whole pool.
The idea is that Oppressive Gloom lends me the space to do melee and buff/debuff.
I don't have a decent way to export mids but...
- I can get one purple insp away from overcapping defense.
- pets seem sturdy and deal enough damage for me to be happy.
I'm looking for specific Pain tricks because this is the first time I've been genuinely interested in the set.
Thanks!

I went into a 4/8 fire farm (which had 2-3 brutes/tanks) and did fine for 20 minutes. With a Fire^3 Blaster built for DPS. When the meatheads bogged down sometimes i jumped into the next 1-2 spawns (tight pack fire tunnel) and never had an issue.
So, in theory this can be done. Caveat; i practiced for months on this character in all kinds of insanity. And it was not relaxing. Exhilarating yes. But not chill. This is a death dance where any mistake will be paid for.
There is a reason people use Brutes and Tanks. They are effective efficient and effing fun. Chill predictable and so easy you can afk.
my fire build is posted in various threads in Blaster forum. It is nothing special, just a built for pure + damage fire blaster. All incarnates are max plus initial damage. Concept is first strike is last strike. Fire ftw. But, again, this is not a good idea for long term farming.
I had one of those same builds, and boy, was it the opposite of relaxing.
I couldn't enjoy it. It got recycled.

Yeah, I haven't played this character much lately, but I recall I left concentrated strike out.

I don't publicly release my builds but I'm willing to help teach you how to make a build for it. Send me a message on the forums with your build goals (permadom, type of travel power, defense based (positional or typed), what kind of content you plan running with it, what difficulty, are you looking for advanced mode stuff or no, and if you are playing it organically or power leveling it?) and an attempt to make your own build aimed at your goals with mids.
I really applaud this. I think building is a fun thing to discuss and help each other understand, and just throwing a successful build into the forums sort of leaves me with a "ok now what?" feeling.
You never know if a build fits your play style or not.

Just throwing a theoretical, non maths based idea out there. What if defender's buff numbers were higher, and corruptor's debuff numbers were higher? Seems that would add balance?

Generally speaking, yes.
The more complicated answer: there are certain sets and combinations that are better on a Corruptor than on a Defender, and vice versa.
I want to ask specifically about pistols/time then because my proctastic (26 dmg% procs) time/pistols defender felt far superior to any of my pistols/ or /time Corruptors I've played.

42 and I now have Spirit Shark, Bile Spray, and Arctic Spray.
I'm likely going to take Maneuvers and slot it up for the best bonuses, but honestly, this build is not about capping resists and defense. This build is about Damage, Recharge, and Regen for me, with all the handy debuffs that come with Rad and Leviathan pools. The extra ranged attacks help me to keep all the AOE going, all the time, which really softens up mobs. Which I can then finish off the hard targets with ST fillers. It feels good. Definitely makes a noticable DPS difference in a team. Even if I'm not the heaviest hitter, I hit the most targets of any melee on the team.

You're assuming he has friends and/or a guild. I'd bet it's a closer guess he solos and hasn't ever turned up the difficulty settings to see how hard it can be made as is.

Now level 36, and since it fits my character I ended up taking Leviathan Pool, because a character named Bum Fight absolutely needs [Bile Spray].
Honestly, This is turning out to be my favorite melee character. -

Help getting def caps on Fire/Pain/Dark
in Corruptor

Hello all,
Thanks for your feedback and advice. I will be at 43% when I finish my melee def bonuses. I will supplement purples and keep Barrier rolling when it's up. I think the choice to only take purple and red insps is not a bad idea.
Yes on a team, with maneuvers, it's often no problem. nullify is pretty decent as a combat heal. Overall I didn't take much in the way of team support though.
