  1. I hope I'm the first to welcome you, but knowing the community I'm not! But just in case, Welcome to City of Heroes! I'm going to be a bit vague for your first question, though I know opinions will differ as much as possible between people. There really isn't any power set, or combination of power sets, that are unplayable in the late game. Granted, you might be able to min / max in a bad way accidentally, but with the ability to preform a respec every 10 levels, think of it as more of a learning experience. Using respecs can allow you to play a little looser with your picks early on and live with some trial and error. You certainly won't be able to gimp yourself without intentionally trying to. As for your second question, roleplaying is not required, or really catered too more then any other style of play (with the exception of PvP which was kind of tacked on). It might seem like RP has a pretty high standing here, but keep in mind this is a community of enfranchised players who have, for the most part, loved this game and the interactions within it for a long time. So really, don't worry about being judged by the RPers, they really are nice people, and every single one of them understands that not everyone does it. Honestly, you'll never get banned for not RPing (even on the unofficial RP server), and making your Hero look however you like is a blessing you can enjoy (especially since I don't think Trademarks are being enforced. Right? Maybe?) no matter what group you're playing with. The best thing about this game has always been the community, and that is true of the RP community. I've never had anything but positive experiences with them, and hope you get to experience similar interactions! And once again, Welcome!
  2. I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree with the majority on this one. Back on the original forums there would occasionally pop up a thread similar to this, and the response and arguments were always the same. Sometimes it was a misunderstanding of game mechanics because of other games they played. Sometimes it was a matter of personal courtesy. Often it was a combination of the two with a dash of venting. What it boils down to is communication. If you want to change people's minds about how it's affecting you (as the player getting your 'kills stole'), is if the "KSer" stays around, politely let them know you've got it handled and you don't really need assistance. If they move on (politely or not), then you're done and possibly changed someone from repeating. If they stick around and continue, even going so far as to clear mobs that are grey to them (and thus receiving no rewards) out of spite, then you're free to report for harassment. But until they know they're assistance is actually a hindrance, and unless they persist, there's no wronged party here. I hope the OP, and any other players who feel like it's an issue, take the time to interact with the other players first. I would even suggest going so far as to create a bind to automatically tell their $target what the player's feelings are, if it's such a strong personal opinion. Politely, of course, because no one wants to escalate the issue, right?
  3. From what I gather reading here: https://cityofheroes.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Slash_Commands It looks like you'd want a macro sort of like this: /macro macro_name "gignore $target$$gunignore $target" I haven't tested it, but the syntax looks right to me, and matches what I've done with other binds in the past. Let us know if it works and how well, please!
  4. Nope, you get no rewards at all unless you participate in the defeating. Not a terribly unreasonable stance on it either, in my opinion.
  5. I went Perma-Hasten with my one character because it lowered the recharge of a couple key powers to a permanent up time. Eclipse, Sunless Mire, and the Dark Nova / Black Dwarf attack chains. With I25’s change to the Kheldian form powers, I probably won’t need Hasten to make the attack chains work, but I’ll still get it (eventually) so the other long recharging buff powers are always up. Other than that one character, I rarely get Hasten at all. It’s great for boss fights, but often not something I need. Probably going to get it for my Titanic Weapon Brute though. That feels like a valuable use.
  6. It certainly isn't needed to go Perma-Hasten, but if you want to, you still can. I got my Warshade Perma-Haste so I could keep Eclipse up permanently as well, allowing me to keep 85% resistances to all but Psionic all the time. Set IOs can help get you to that point, which means I probably wouldn't worry about getting it until level 47. But that doesn't mean you can't plan what you'll need. Certain Set IOs you'll want to have only come at lower levels (while still providing that sweet sweet recharge bonus), so it might be worth it to find the magical number of recharge you'll need from sets, and figure out what to save up for. Assuming everything is golden, I plan on getting my new Warshade fulling IOd at some point in the distance future, including getting Perma-Hasten. I know I don't need it, but I like the idea of it.
  7. It would have to have been when I took my level 50 Warshade out and powerleveled some random players for free for the first time. I knew I could do it because I'd finally finished crafting all the Enhancements to reach Perma-Hasten levels, meaning I'd have Perma-capped resistances, full heal every 5 seconds, and could clear a full spawn up to Lt's with three attacks. But the thing that made it amazing, was having someone say they had "never seen a Warshade do that before." That was the moment I felt like I'd really made something I'd never thought I could. Man, I'll miss a little kitten.
