Hello everyone, it's your friendly neighborhood Beorn. So, I have a LOT of characters. I have something on every Homecoming server, and I LOVE playing with my friends, online, and I love farming, and I love running content. But, I also play other online games with my daughter in college, and my fiancée. So, there are times I'll get on a kick to do something and then I'll put it away, and sometimes forget about it.
Hither comes my situation. I, for some reason, made a Rad/Fire brute, WAAAYYYYYY back in 2019, and then, I moved him several pages down on the character select screen. Like, if he wasn't on the first few pages, I forgot he was there.
I was flipping through my various builds on my various servers, and I just absent-mindedly kept scrolling and lo and behold, Mini-Pulsar.
I thought he looked adorable (like a little nugget of flaming charcoal briquette), and logged in.
When I saw his powers, it was done in a way I would never do it nowadays. And then I checked his enhancement management and was floored...
He is a farmer, I guess, but with a fire defense of around 38%?!?! He would get literally roasted in an afk farm, and without proper management he still can get smacked around in a +3/x8 standard fire farm. Also, he had a tier 4 Barrier Incarnate power instead of the much more useful Ageless (did I mention that he also DRINKS endurance far more quickly than his consume can compensate for?). And he had over 500 incarnate threads, so I could make tier 2 incarnate powers of every conceivable permutation (but only 3 empereal merits, which makes sense since he has all tier 4 incarnate powers).
Well, I got him to a tier 3 ageless incarnate, and then I spent the time to slot everything exactly as I found it into Mids' Reborn...
Folks, there is so much Multi-Strike. And, with all the sets of Aegis, I did not slot a Psionic/Status Resistance.
There is too much to sum up. In short... HELP? Can y'all help me make this thing decent? I am sure I can run him on lower difficulty to get the influence together to make him viable. And I do love the powersets he's got, so, I don't have to get Mu Mastery or anything else. Also, I see very little use in Phoenix Rising unless I need it as a mule.

Howdy folks. So, like many of you, I am a dyed-in-the-wool Alt-O-Holic. And while I love making characters and playing them, I do so in cycles; fits-and-starts, if you will. That includes servers. I play MOST of the time on Everlasting, but I have them on all the Homecoming servers.
Recently, I was talking with a friend who had found the game again, and she and her husband ended up on Torchbearer server and asked did I have characters there.
I have this one, and, while it can farm (42 and change % fire defense [not my best work]), I made some, frankly, BIZARRE choices when I made it, some... 700 days ago?
Can anyone look at this and tell me what was I thinking? And, what should I do to make it better? There are a few things. I want to keep it hero only, so, no Mu Mastery. And, I really enjoy the rotation I have now, but of course damage per second is something I could always improve. Finally, WHAT THE HECK REGARDING THE SLOTTING?!? So. Much. Multi-Strike?!?!
I would love the help.

Imagine, if you will, a scrapper with a magickal suit of armour (yeah, I know, I make mostly magickal toons, and a LOT of them wield magic shields, weapons, and wear mystical armours).
But this guy, I want to build him to be hella capable at end content, even though I am handicapping him because I MUST have 3 powers for the build:
Lightning Rod (so I need Electrical Melee as the primary, so far, *yawn* am I right?)
Shield Charge (so, Shield Defense, once again, nice defense and some good resists, double *yawn*)
Spring Attack (from the Leaping Power Pool Set [ah HAH! Didn't see THAT one coming, didja?])
His name is "Translocutus" and I was wanting him to have teleport attacks, even if not actual teleport as a power (since I need 3 powers from Leaping to get Spring attack).
I saw this on another character (I think a tank?) and I believe the attack chain was a kind of teleport in, lightning, BOOM, then spring into the middle of the mass, BOOM, and then shield bash the remaining mobs BOOM and whatever is left standing was hit with Ion Judgement. It was AWESOME.And I want something similar, but in a scrapper form.
Does anyone with a greater appreciation and facility for Mids Reborn care to help me out? I know that I am really limiting the overall utility with the Spring Attack, but I REALLY want to make this guy!

It annoys me not to crack 80% S/L Resistance on a Brute, but limitations of a Def set. I could get above 80% S/L resistance but it would have meant bad things to defense values. It also lacks perma-Hasten. You have enough attack to cycle through, though I admit there is something to be said for Shield Charge ever 21s and Pendulum every 3s. S/L/F/C resistances are a bit better for not much change to defense values. Dropped One With the Shield (hate crash powers), and left you with 5 slots to play with. Did you intentionally not take a travel power? (Fine if you did, some characters it is out of concept for.)
Yeah, the concept is a magickal axe and shield passed down the generations. So, I use the flying carpet as my travel power. As for the totals here they are with and without One with the Shield:

I have both a WM/Shield and a WM/Ninjitsu Scrappers. If/when I return I expect it will be to finish up on the Battle Axe/Ninjitsu Scrapper. The absurd chance to crit coming out of stealth on him is out of this world.

I always enjoy your insight Erratic1. I don't know what is going on regarding Brutes, but I just love being able to wade into anything and walk away (and also the fights not taking forever [cough cough tank cough]). I have some awesome Scrappers (I played a broadsword/regen on live back in the day), but the brute is so near and dear to my heart. Back in live beta in 2003/2004 my main was a stone/mace tank, and I SWORE I would never have something so end draining and slow once the game went live. So, when City of Villains went live a bit later, I IMMEDIATELY started making Brutes.
I am still missing something, but I was able to take nihilii's advice, I THINK?

10. Lighting Rod - needs KB to KD or they go flying. Yes, I put a FF +rech in there
11. Panacea in Health and Power Transfer in Stamina (+HP) means bonus green numbers floating, as well.
Incarnates include Ion (for theme), Musculature (for damage), Carnival (for Forge) and Barrier (of course).
So I'll say it for everyone else. Tanky Brute?..."I would have put a whole lot more damage in there"... 😁 Let's just say, he farms the "Just teh Council" S/L Dreck map just fine.
With no tricks or Incarnates, you get 43% Melee Def. (no DDR, so can be stripped quickly) and right at 90% S/L resist. 90+ Energy (of course) and 54 Neg/63 F-C/66 Psi.

First, let me say... I love this build. I love the concept, and the execution in both S/L farms and in the open world are fine. Just fine.
But only fine. I am okay at Mids' Reborn. But I am no innovator. I look to better crafters than I am to fashion these things, and was hoping to maintain the overall look, feel, and play of this character, but make her more... more? Resists are pretty good (ecept for Toxic), and melee defense is alright, but only alright. It is very hard to run out of endurance on this brute as slotted. The electric animations make it no Street Justice rotation, but she'll do.
I guess what I am saying is, is there a way to optimize this build without removing the essence of the concept (earth-bound daughter of a certain Thunder-and-Lighting Diety)?

Dark is very good ST, it has a self heal that is a hard hitting part of your attack chain. It has a pbaoe end recovery power. It is just a strong well balanced combat set. Others have more aoe, but nobody else has what dark has. I pair it with invul for tge toughest combo in the game imo. Thematically and Synergistically it is great with Dark as well
Dark Melee/Invul Brute is my favorite open world character.

Willpower is weak in DDR so I tried to squeeze a bit more Defense in while recognizing no amount is really safe when debuff rears its head. That being the case, I was also determined to get scaling resistances in the build. Threw in some +To-Hit but overall lost a bit of +Rchg.

I want a Brute that bleeds inky blackness. I want a Brute that dances with the Void. I want a Brute that allows my pretty monitor to be able to distinguish between black, dark black, and "holy crap is there a miniature black-hole on the center of your screen"-black.
AND, if at all possible, would be fun to play in game. These resists are just fine, and with the mega Incarnate powers will be awesome. BUT, I feel like I am missing something or making some major mistakes.

The reason I thought you were farming is I very rarely die with this Brute build. One memorable occasion trying to save a Blaster from about four full spawns of Rularuu, and a few times in a Really Hard Way Magisterium attempt in the final fight. (Tough fight for any melee really)
Farming would explain dying, to me. Or you are not using Dark Dark correctly. At +4/x8 you do not want to agro 2-4 spawns of 17 baddies. You have Stealth. Un suppressing stealth. You can kill 17 +4/x8 Longbow while the other 150 +4 Longbow mill around thirty feet away and ignore you killing their friends. When you whittle those down go get the next spawn. Or charge two spawns and use Rune of protection and/or inspirations. Time your heal and use it. If you see you are down a third health but it took them 10 secs to do that, heal up. You now know your heal will mostly cover anything they can do easily. I can write everything about Dark...except a play by play against enemies I do not know, with your playstyle also unknown.
When I play this build it is easy street. When you play it you die. Find something else? A Hyperstrike Invul Brute is nigh unkillable, even if you go to the bathroom.
I have a Dark/Invul Brute that is virtually impervious in S/L farms, but slower than a true farmer.
In open world he is so much fun! The concept is neat, but now I want to make a proper Dark/Dark/Soul/Void Brute and see where I can take the inky darkness!

I was wondering, is there a way to keep the more magical aspects of the build from the Sorcery pool? If not, no worries. Just the magical flight combining fly AND teleport was cool, and the runes that floated around me were kinda neat.
Once again, I love the build you made. And, I can raise the inf needed to make just about anything in a few days. But I was digging the "spooky demon trying to leave evil behind through magick" concept.~B
P.S.- So, electrical fences was just gotten in order to get to Ball Lightning in Mu Mastery? I know that it is a decent CC power. But, Energy is a hard hitter and might not need it. Thanks!

Hey folks, my defenses are both over blown and not enough, and apart from when Rune of Protection is up, my resistances are less than I want too.
I don't have hasten, and since the combat jumping is not all THAT useful, I might swap hasten for that, and take one of the slots from either health or stamina.

Howdy gang! I have been looking into making a Sith-inspired character for a while now. And, I understand that there are all kinds of ways to go about this, (Brute, Scrapper, Stalkers ATs, Willpower and Ninjitsu secondaries, Electricity and Katana primaries), but, for me, I wanted something a little different.
Hence, Darth Beorn. A Dual Blades / Energy Aura Scrapper. The positional defenses are good for most things, and the resists are... okay. But, with the incarnate, accolade and epic pools I think I have a decent shot at making something nice.
I must state that inf is not a barrier (though spending 100 million influence on ONE Hami-O is something I am rather unlikely to do since I could get an entire six-slot power very rared out for the same), and I routinely spend between 500 million and 750 million inf on a character. So, if I could make something better, but it'll cost me, I am totally fine with that.
Conversely, if I am spending more than I need, and another solution would give me more recharge, or resist, or defense in Negative/Toxic/Psionic... I am all ears.
