I believe there's conceptual space for Hero vs Villain zones without the PvP. More like cold war style jabs against the other side for, perhaps, zone control or resources rather than straight up PvP. Like imagine both sides trying to influence Boomtown reconstruction, for example.
But straight up PvP? Others have conveyed how I'd feel well enough.-

I've mostly stopped playing now, and I think this is the main reason I can't bring myself to get back into it.
I know the whole facerolling everything feels superheroic to some folks, which is awesome and I never want to deny anyone of that. But it didn't really stay interesting for me. It feels too much like winning because the enemy is incompetent, and not because I or my character is competent. It's like all the satisfaction of beating a 4-year-old at Mario Kart.
I know there are instances of challenge in the game, but I've done them. And there are other games that do suit me.
