Some of those in the 2m ppd are actually quite a bit higher if you look at their page and look at what they got a few days. Could be closer to 3m ppd. Good thing I should see a big boost to my ppd here in just a few days. Minor edit for clarity.

Instead of being sad with your team position, remember that each completed WU helps out humanity as a whole. Besides, I’m sure you don’t want my electric bill, lol. It’s not cheap.

Check cpu usage in task manager. It should show 100% or close to it. Unless your doing other high demand tasks (gaming, encoding. Etc.) folding tends to have only a minor effect on your user experience.

That’s normal. Your cpu I’m guessing is a quad core. Your rx480 has 2304 processors/cores. The WU’s your gpu gets are more complex and because of this, they have higher base point values. They also have better bonuses based on how quickly you can turn in the WU. From a PPD standpoint, the majority of CPU’s are not worth folding on.

That seems like a reasonable time. It will take a little bit after you get a new work unit for your gpu to go to 100%. Even than, it may not sit at 100% power usage and might down clock itself a bit. This is normal.

In the client, what does it say for the GPU slot? There have been shortages of WU so it maybe waiting for one.

Like suicide Squirrel, I was also outside the top 10 last month. So it’s not all the same people. Snowdaze has said this really well so I won’t reiterate what he has said, but just stating that I agree. With everything he has said. There are other teams that will give you store credit to fold for them. I choose to be here to help this team. edit: Your recommendation of dividing points by work units would lead to people playing the system and hurt the overall progress of folding. People would just drop WU to get the best ratio and under those criteria you could be a top contributor with 1 WU which is unreasonable as well. In my opinion, if any change happens to the top ten rewards, it should be the bonus points to the top three get redistributed if those in the top three remain the same after 2 months.

Yes. The full size slots (x16 size) are what I was referring to. Risers are usually pcie x1. These do not have the bandwidth to give full ppd. If they did, I’d have a significantly higher ppd. You need pcie x4 to get full ppd.

As someone who has/had 6-8 gpu mining/folding machines, keep the max number of gpus to match your pcie x16 slots. It’s much easier that way if you do expand. The mining risers work for folding, but not well and can cause you lots of hassle.

typical mining setups don’t fold well and can be difficult to get setup. Noise isn’t that bad in my opinion. Heat can be problematic. They are also far more temperamental than a typical pc. A 1080ti or better should land you in the top ten. Maybe a regular 1080 depending on luck. But that isn’t in everyone’s means.

I’ve been kinda thinking of doing some kind of contest to fold under other people names for a bit to boost them up into the top 10. Hardware issues along with life in general have kept me focused on other things though and unable to come up with an idea.

I’ve been getting gpu work units. Pause and than start folding again. This will reset the timer if no WU have been available. There was a drought earlier but all 7 of my current clients have WU.

Just shows how good this community is. Not that we didn’t know that before but just proving it again.

And my router died. Again. Second one in 5 days. Looks like I’m gonna be offline a while. At least folding.

Was hoping to get my 2080 ti folding again this weekend and get the water loop back in my computer but alas, that did not happen.

Right now I have about 2.4 m ppd that’s reliable. I have a lot more that is giving me fits. And a bit waiting on a new radiator.

Suicide-squirrel, you weren’t kidding that you were coming for the top spot. Don’t think that my 1.8 million points per day that is currently being shown on the extreme overclocking page is representative though 😉

That’s quite impressive. That type of power is impressive. It’s why u keep my multi gpu folding computers in the basement. I just had my router go out on me today. Looks like my ppd is gonna tank for a bit.

That’s good to see. Hopefully the WU will keep flowing and we can keep going higher. I know I’m doing what I can to improve my ppd. Though it is a little way out yet.
