First game for me was Meridian 59, back in the dial up days. I loved the crap out of that game. Was my first introduction to online anything. Made some long lasting friendships in that game. After that, Everquest. Launch day. What a mess trying to get connected, but wow was I ever fascinated with that online world. Meridian 59 was ugly, even by mid 90's standards, so Everquest felt like I was playing in a whole new world. But it was a hard and unforgiving game back then as much as I loved it, I just didn't have the time to group enough to really get anywhere. Some time after that, I tried Anarchy Online and really enjoyed it for a bit. You could get further in the game solo than you could with Everquest. But I eventually wandered away. It was around this time that I was constantly checking for updates on CoH and placed my pre-order. CoH was my next game that I stuck with for a several months to a year or so. I think I got to about mid 30's then wandered off. Tried Everquest 2 and WoW. Then wandered back to Everquest around the LDoN era. Played steady for a while and grouped more and enjoyed it. Next up was Age of Conan. Didn't care for it and abandoned it rather quickly. Then along came Lord of the Rings Online. I got into the very final beta stage. I spent a lot of time in this game (still do from time to time). It was the first MMO that I actually hit the level cap on. I still love that game and probably always will. After that I went back to Wow and spent more time than previous attempts. Level capped there too, but got bored. Dabbled in Everquest private servers for a while. Did the Champions Online thing for a while. Level capped there too. There are others that I flirted with briefly i.e, played for a month or two like Aion, Rift, BDO, etc. Did play Runes of Magic for a while. It's pretty fun for a free to play WoW clone. I've played a lot of them over the years. Aside from big, sandbox RPGs like Skyrim, MMOs are the only games that I play really. I'm very happy to be back in Coh and I am enjoying it more this time around than the first time. I'm 3 levels from the cap now :)

Just a small QoL suggestion, but would be nice to have a sell all button for salvage and recipes.

There are some easy to solo AE missions that will give you gobs of xp, especially if you have the double xp buff on. Try Bad's Backyard BBQ It's a level one mission, but if you crank up your notoriety and say Yes to solo elite bosses, you will advance very quickly. There are about a dozen buff bots that follow you around and keep you safe and make the super bads easier to defeat. You will only have access to probably one attack from your powers, so be sure to grab the p2w axe, staff, and mu. You have to defeat 33 per mission, should take 15 mins or so. Even in my early 30's, I still tend to get about one level per mission. Good luck!

Thank you for the advice. Would you know a good tutorial for crafting that you might recommend? -
Getting the most out of solo levelling using AE
dmaker replied to dmaker's topic in Mission Architect
I've looked at IOs but they are usually anywhere from 4 - 10,000,000 each, I think. Going to need to generate some more inf if I'm looking to buy a bunch of those. Or am I maybe looking at the wrong thing? That's possible. I find IOs confusing. -
Hi all, pretty new to AE but thought I would check it out one day out of curiosity. I have a SS/Fire toon that I wanted to level quickly and use it eventually as an inf farmer to finance my other characters. I'm not sure what missions I should be doing. I have tried a handful, but it seems that I get more solo xp just grinding the level 1 missions that have buff bots and elite bosses. For example, Bads Backyard BBQ has 33 (I think) elite bosses on an easy map with a dozen or more buff bots that will follow you around and make it easy to defeat each boss. Basically you can't really die. Killing each one can be kind of slow because you don't have access to many powers. Probably just one early attack power and brawl. But you can also load up on the P2W powers giving you two extra melee and two extra ranged. These are good enough to whittle down the boss in not too long a time. If you have the double xp buff running (from P2W) you will get a ton of xp per boss. I got I think 7 levels off the start in one mission and even in my mid to low 30's I get roughly one level per mission. It's pretty boring, though, and I am not getting any salvage drops. But on another upside, you are not spending anything on SO's at any level. But it's boring and you are not learning anything about your character other than to spam a few low level or free p2w attacks. It's cheap, easy xp. So then I got to level 35 that way and decided to slot in SO's and have some more fun. I did and then I ran a few Bloody Rainbows solo and had a blast. So much more fun. Not quite as much XP, but pretty close I think (not per mob, but you get a big chunk of xp when you finish the 5 missions for Bloody Rainbow), plus you will get salvage drops. The problem here is that you will still level pretty quickly and changing out SO's every 5 levels is going to suck a bit. Those are the two methods that I have been using to try to level quickly. Are there better? Which missions are the best for farming inf? I may have to do a few of those to fund my SO's every 5 levels and will certainly need to when I want to try and get end game IOs. I have about 15 million right now across all my characters. Definitely not enough to end game IO even one character. Thanks

Your framerates are really good, especially in a crowded area, but a 3000 ping is really bad. Is that the only time your ping goes that high, in a crowded area? What type of Internet connection do you have?
-
In the game options, near the bottom of the choices, you can bind keys to show framerates and network performance. I would suggest enabling both of those and running them while playing. If your framerate gets really low, but your ping is otherwise consistent, then it is most likely your gpu unable to keep up with your current activities. Also, if your gpu supports something like Riva, you can display statistics like framerate, but also gpu temps in an on screen display while playing as well. If your gpu overheats, it will slow to a crawl.

Some were cash options, and some were expansion rewards so they were available from Creation. Not at launch.

Do the P2W prestige enhancements stack in a single power?
dmaker replied to dmaker's topic in General Discussion
Ah, yes. I stand corrected, they are Recharge, not Accuracy. But do the benefits stack in a single power? I would spread them out, but I only have two attacks. -
I remember capes being locked until level 20 I think it was.
-
If I am leveling a new character, is there benefit to slotting multiple P2W prestige enhancements in a single attack power? Leveling a SS/Invuln tank right now, so I only have two attack powers, but we get 5 prestige enhancements. Each enhancement has +ACC/+DAM. Since I have 3 unused for a bit, does it help to put more than one into a single attack power vs one prestige and one or two training enhancement? Thanks

The age old question : Brute or Scrapper? :)
dmaker replied to Tigersoul78's topic in General Discussion
Why? I have a 17 MA/Shield Brute that I'm enjoying. Starting to have endurance issues if I run 3 defensive toggles at the moment. I'm curious why a scrapper might have been a better choice. Thanks -
I don't think 30 - 60 fps is abnormal for a gtx 980. Sounds to me like you don't really have an issue. Adding more cpu resources will not make a 980 perform any better than it can. Is the game installed on an ssd? That can help with some initial loading of zones, but it really seems like you are getting about the performance I would expect for what we know of your specs.

That is pretty much what I do now. I just switch to my toon with the most inf, mail a bunch to a new alt (which is still my @global since you cannot mail directly to an alt), then logoff that toon and switch to the alt. So it's basically a shared bank anyway as you are always mailing to your @global, but it would be much simpler if we could take out the email step and just share inf across all toons on an account.
-
Does it feel like it is running slowly? What is your fps? (you can enable a key to display this in options) I have a similar cpu/gpu and my resources are not taxed that much either, even with every option cranked to the max. My fps ranges from 40 ish in crowded areas to 80 ish while flying around.

Would this be hard to implement? Like many here, I'm an altoholic. I also solo alot and don't enjoy slow grinding, so I grab the 100% XP boosters. This means I don't earn influence at all. I tend to just rely on salvage sales to fund my early levels. If I'm lucky enough to get a rare or two that sell for 1M each, then I'm good to go for a while. It is tedious, though, to email inf to every alt and try to track who has how much. If I am early levels and want to start buying training enhancements, I will need some inf. If I am lucky enough to find a rare salvage, I still need like 50K to even post it for sale. Having a pile of alts each with several hundred thousand inf sitting on them seems less than ideal. A shared bank would be great instead.

By the way...might as well ask about the Hamidon in the room....

No one can say for certain, but if you look around the online landscape you will see private servers for several elder MMOs. Even Everquest, which is still live, has a long thriving emu scene and has been completely unbothered by current IP owners (Daybreak Games I believe now). DAOC, Warcraft and others have had private servers for a while and seem to go largely ignored by the powers that be. I suspect CoH may go the same way. This resurrection has proven to be wildly popular in private server terms--50K plus player base--but I don't think that is large enough to sustain a live game. Especially once the initial nostalgia factor ebbs a bit and the game settles into a smaller community. I don't really see this representing the loss of a viable revenue stream for NCsoft. It is probably more like when an ex girlfriend gets married years later. You are happy for her, but never jealous. If it did get shutdown, you can always grab the vm and create your own server for you and your friends. You could easily escape notice on your own server. -
I don't understand why people get so concerned about this. Do you harangue every Batman or Deadpool you see on Halloween? I look at this the same way. If someone wants to create a character that is an homage to one of their favorite comic characters, who cares? It's difficult to make exact copies anyway. There is no bat symbol, no Superman chest symbol, etc. Sure, you can make pretty close copies, but rarely are they exactly identical. How is this any different than the umpteen dozen generic Asian MMO NPCs I see running around? Aside from the IP concerns, I don't have a problem with recognizable character designs. If it's more fun for some, then have at it.
