  1. Well... erhmmm... I keed I keed I was thinking more along the lines of - ANY praetorian content. That will eat that builds lunch. Lots of Psi in that content. also Banished Pantheon, Rikti, Arachnos, Longbow, Vanguard - maybe more - that is all I could think of right now. That's a mighty big hole for late game content especially.
  2. Ooof meh aching Psi Hole - that will get you in trouble in the wrong neighborhoods.
  3. I had it on a brute - would definitely put it in the top 3 in terms of burst damage maybe the top 2 if you hit with build up, gaussian build up and insight.
  4. Their secondary elements - healing flames on fire, energize on elec, and all of the absorbs of rad are all secondary mitigation effects of those sets - just like invul and shield have resist/ defense. A strong case can be made of their aspects of regeneration - because they do exist - they are there to use and have strong regeneration/health aspects and prop up any deficiencies of those sets nicely. So i think its fair to at least acknowledge the regen aspects they contain - because if you just rely on resistances its not going to work as well.
  5. Yeah i do need to try that for sure - i will look into that for sure. When i was helping to test regen and map out its deficiencies we used the ITF which i am assuming is less stringent than the ASF - they shredded the regen - it could hold out for a bit but once the gimmicks ran dry regen on its on folded so fast it was startling. That is why i am having a hard time buying invul being worse than regen in anything - in fact. I cant buy that nothing in my experience tells me otherwise.
  6. Invul doesn't need a crutch like MoG to survive alphas. Regen by all the numbers is still inferior to invul. Invul is better suited to take alpha strikes than regen by a mile even with MoG running - especially when MoG drops and debuffers are involved on an ordinary +4/8 ITF. My invul can just sit there - the regen - not so much.
  7. You can cycle most of that with invul and still have a greater starting position mitigationwise with invul with terms to res and def - and it should be a lot easier - because regen isn't as sturdy as invul by every stat except regen. Over-arching point if you are doing it at all with regen - you can do it with invul.
  8. Well - how do you survive on regen? - which has no debuff resistances to speak of. An invul build like that is infinitely better than anything a regen brute can survive. Because any defense you can build would be shredded faster than the invul - and there is no way you are getting 90% res to all on a regen. Either way - if you took rebirth on the invul, and alternated it with melee core - you should be able to solo that with ease.
  9. Updates to the entire Shield lineup incoming as soon as i can get to a computer - nothing huge but tweaks and fine tuning - it never ends. :-) that's why it is I that is blessed to make builds for you - i learn new things each time.
  10. Say what? Relies on defense? On resistances - my invuls are 90% s/l and ~70+ for the rest including psi - and that is with 1 stack of MotT. They are all pretty close to 90 once you figure in the other two stacks which is easy to get. Then you add in my normal melee defense target ~50% and then typed which softcap at around 5 targets and increase further from there. Then you have dull pain. My invul is stronger than any shield i have - the long and the short of it is - it cant just rely on defense. If you can play regen - invul should be a cake walk no matter how bad the build is. Try one of my builds out - Nova Infinitum or Brikhouse would be what I would recommend for shear fun and smash. Invul doesn't need ageless though - its just an added bonus that it has ddr - i had it for the recharge TBH.
  11. Ya know that's actually a fairly brilliant idea - i have always stuck to ageless for the recharge rate an extra ddr but for hardened encounters - Rebirth with the + regen would actually be a better choice. You are actually better than the actual Regen powerset yet again with Second to none positionals and nearly invul level resists at the same time. lol one more method to out regen Regen. I like it! Thanks for showing this - i used Rebirth on my Rad/ Elec Brute to great effect years ago - but have gotten drunken with Ageless since - as soon as i get home all of my shield tankers are getting a Rebirth option added - maybe my Invul and SR tankers also.
  12. Anytime! You can swap around hybrid incarnates and even run ageless core if endurance is an issue -and like i said earlier also travel powers. The cool thing about shield is for 99% of content you wont notice the lack of a heal and for those instances you could run melee core or one with the shield for greater durability - even rotate the two for levels of durability greater than invul at that point - but what i normally run is assault radial for attack and one with the shield for extreme mitigation environments and the rest is cake at that point.
  13. EM if you like to knock sh** out cold. lol - dm if you like writhing bad guys in fear and darkness. If you go EM a great suggestion would be EM/ EA Arclyte - Brute (Energy Melee - Energy Aura).mxd Like that one. Can tank every bit as good as any tanker.
  14. I think that may be because one with the shield is defaulted to "on" it is a situationally useful power - and you can actually rotate it with melee core for a near perma result - however with it having an end crash and not being perma - I never count that. Also on Active defense you really want to run recharge on it so it double stacks more frequently - effectively doubling the DDR it yields.
  15. Try this one out - I have a similar build I based this one off of that was Energy/Invul and it has no difficulty navigating any content in the game - even tanking it as a Brute 🙂 I normally run with assault - but if you want added durability you could always switch your hybrid to Melee core for encounters that might dictate it, but for the most part this build has been unkillable against everything I have ran it against. 19. I am officially on vacation at 5pm today for a few days but i will see if i can sneak some time to help you build this also.
  20. Take a look at this build. It is rad/elec, but you should be able to duplicate the rad set bonuses to energy. Shadowstryke - Brute (Radiation Melee - Electric Armor).mxd One note - I am not near a computer so i cant see my build or your build right now, but if i remember correctly mine soft caps melee defense and hits the s/l res cap. Getting ranged also i believe would be too great of a sacrifice, but honestly that build served me well for a long time. It was my first decked out build on homecoming - could survive both extreme fire farms and s/l farms with ease as well. The only time i had to be careful was against toxic and sometimes negative. I kept melee core on hand for those situations - but usually ran assault radial for most content. And remember i cant see the numbers at the moment - if your build is better disregard my build. lol
  21. Reorganized into more clear categories and added a lot of Brutes.
  22. I think this is where incarnates should come in to play (we arent talking average content or average builds here) so - melee core is an option - it is there for a reason and it will keep a brute alive in those rare instances they need a little bit more. I know everything these days is about damage - but it doesn't have to be - if you need the brute stronger do that and alternate it and barrier even if its really nasty content - problem solved and on average with most primary secondary options the brute is still pulling out more damage than a tanker. My point is if you throw increased damage at both ATs the tanker will win, but if you throw dmg to the tanker and survivability to the brute you are in similar waters at that point. But both ways it can't be. I utilize every avenue but at the end of the day my brutes and tanks play very similar in slightly different ways - emphasizing survival. That's just my play style preference.
  23. This blows my mind - honestly. In Babylon 5 terms we are all younger races while Arcanaville is the Walkers of Sigma 957. There just is no equal in City of Heroes history. To denigrate that... Unimaginable. Its not hero worship either. Its giving credit where credit is well deserved.
