Honestly, I have no idea. I'm just throwing spaghetti at the wall here to see what sticks. I had to adjust an entire enemy group post-patch because they all broke, but the edits were relatively minor on my end. It's possible the server just ignores the broken stuff, but since AE is primarily on the client side, it can't.

I see. I'll have to check it out then, just to see. Thanks!

Check through your custom mobs one by one and make sure they don't have any invalid powers or costume pieces selected. There's been changes to both and you might have to re-save them with the updated options.

Okay so here’s my question on that: when I run the arc, it runs fine. The lockup only happens in edit. If it’s a powers issue or costume, wouldn’t that also lock up the arc when I play it?

I've been having all kinds of trouble in the AE the last couple of weeks.  I'm trying to get an arc finished that I've been working on forever, and it seems like every time I touch something now, it forgets the allowed number of bosses per map, or the escort in the last mission doesn't work correctly, or crashes outright to the desktop.  I dropped a custom mob and used a preset one, thinking maybe it was file size (sitting at just under 17% right now).  It's the longest and most involved arc I've ever done, at 5 missions with lots of optional objectives, so I'm not sure if I've pushed the system to its limit or what the deal is.

I hadn’t thought about file size. But I haven’t done anything more involved than I’ve done before (I don’t think), so…who knows? Ticking  me off though, because I am so close to a first publish.

I was on Torch yesterday and some people in chat were saying they were having problems after the patch but it cleared up.  Maybe that was it?

Man that would be nice. As of last night it was still the same though.

I might create different versions of the same character simply to try out different powers or even ATs with the same concept.

I'm with ya. I've made 3 different versions of Whipsmart, tracing how he might've developed as he matured. I abandoned the Bots MM early though, because Masterminds aren't in my fun zone.

Related note - and I'm POSITIVE people do this - I've made different costumes that reflect different eras in a character's career, especially if it is a long one. EX: My Patriotic Cap like toon is Major Victory. His basic rags are the ol' Red, White and Blue (predominance of colors in that order). I whipped up a WW2 version (greens & browns, to be more "camo-ey"), and a black and white version (to mimic his "Nomad" phase).  He's SJ/WP, so no fiddling with a shield or anything (though I'd probably have him carry guns in his B&W gear, throw in Temp Revolver attack every now and then). If I reimagined all this as different toons I'd run, then I'd make some different powersets to reflect evolution. I can see Maj having to wear power armor late in his career. He might be a Sent by then, relying more on gadgets.

You know...this could be my next little stupid project...hmmmm...:-)

  6. Working on a new story. I get to the VERY LAST mish of what's looking like a decent tale, and this glitch develops where, when I try to edit, it takes a LONG time to load. Once I'm in, I have very little time before it kicks me out, gives me a mapserver error. Then I have to log back in.

I can make quick changes and save them, and I can run the arc when I select TEST from the selection panel (and it runs fine). But editing? Nope. Doesn't matter what toon I'm on. Same thing happens if I edit Published version or non-published. I have a few minor errors to fix, and need to paste in a couple text blocks (mission end off and end arc). That's it. Now, I don't think I'll be able to do it.

I'm gonna have to start over....goddamnit...

(P.S. I did report it, and getting some help from Dev, but I honestly think this is something that isn't fixable--unless one of you guys has seen this before?)

(FYI: Just switched servers, tried another toon. Soon as I clicked edit: Mapserve).

  7. In AE, the ones who follow politely are Allies. They have settings for following behavior. The gangs who show up and shadow you are friendly ambushes, whose main job is to vector to you in battle (in their overly “friendly” way). I’m guessing regular mish NPCs follow similar patterns.

  8. My not so favorite comparison to the experience related by the OP: I'm scripting mishes in AE, and someone is multiboxing toons through fire farms, all of which have that ground pound ability. They can all be standing there for several minutes, slamming, slamming, slamming away, until the player shows back up and sends them back in (to the asteroid map, I'd wager). My whole screen shakes constantly.

I know, I know -- I can go to the little room in the back where all that is shut off. Or I can fiddle with settings, etcetcetc. Still, I'm just like, What exactly are you up to while this mass of same-looking characters is minioning away in here?

Besides, who decides what's exceptional enough content that should get rewarded like this?

This. What's exceptional is subjective. Dev's choice DID give us a window into some quality work. But even that is subject to the tastes of the reviewer. One reviewer's masterpiece is another's yawnfest. I DO think the filter button is a good idea, especially since I'm regularly searching for SFMA arcs.

  10. I switched the timer to an hour. Thought about completely dropping it as I have eschewed use of that with all my new mishes. Went ahead and kept it, but gave plenty of time for any clue reading.

Left Freitag's old man yells at cloud verbiage.:-) (And he did admit he gets triggered by Rocky and Bullwinkle.):-)

    Thanks again!

  11. So, per the recent Lost Girls run by @CellyEl,  went back through and found the following things to fix:

    Spoiler

TYPO: C1-4 “her” body deteriorates FIXED

CHANGE?: Maybe take off where things can be found in M1, bc Geni spawns WAY into the mish rather than "front" FIXED

TYPO: 2-1 needs a comma FIXED and slightly changed (shortened) verbiage

FORMAT: End pop m2 has a T that should be orange FIXED

ADD LOC TAG: M3 Lady Jane (in office area) ADDED

FORMAT: M3 end text Minutes later should be orange FORMATTED

NARRATIVE: Maybe take out "triggered" part? I dunno. Freitag is a crusty guy. Sorta fits him. LEFT IT

TIMED MISH: Thinking of switching the timer to 1 hour for larger teams. I bypassed mobs and finished that mish in less than 6 mins though. SWITCHED TO 1 HOUR

  12. Oh, man. I have a doppelgänger.:-)

Thanks for running that. That’s one I completely forgot about. If you send me the formatting flubs, I’ll give them a fix.

and it didn’t occur to me that it would probably be a good idea to have some guest reviews. It would certainly increase the number of arcs that get seen and recognized. Thanks @CellyEl! I need to get one of yours in here. Send me a suggestion for what you’d like featured.

It's like when you invite a healer to your team and then nobody gets hurt.   You almost feel kind of bad for them, right?

    No?

    Just me?

    Okay.

I think I must agree, based on the number of blasters I play.:-)

  14. I have at least 1 homage (to Cap). And then I have a toon that is “suspected” to be the alter  ego of an on-game contact. A second toon is an homage due to the fact that he, too, is suspected to be an in game contact and that contact is definitely a nod to Black Panther.
