I've been involved in some discussion elsewhere about this, and what I would like to present as evidence is "which defeat badges are the ones people keep missions to farm, and why do they do it?" If making this auto-exemplar change an option isn't feasible it might make sense to tweak the badge requirements. Here are the ones that others and I have come up with so far:

    • Croatoa Ghosts (Geas of the Kind Ones): waiting for the day-night cycle is boring, and even on a full team they don't spawn in large enough groups (or in large enough numbers) to complete in one day-night cycle, so you're stuck waiting for two cycles to complete. Reducing the defeat requirement from 333 to 200 would likely mean you could complete it in a single night so it would be less annoying. The mission players normally save is from Gordon Bower, a 25-29 contact.
    • Paragon Protectors (Crey CBX-9 Pistol): these normally spawn as bosses so you're having to run from mob to mob to find them, usually in hazard zones, and you have to defeat 200. There's a mission that consists only of Paragon Protectors, which significantly speeds this badge up. The mission is from Gordon Stacy, a 35-39 contact.
    • Spectral Pirates (Born in Battle): same as the Croatoa Ghosts, thought this one is a little easier since 100 defeats are required and the mobs spawn in open zones in a relatively small area. You can get this one done in one day-night cycle but it's still significantly faster to load into a mission spawned at x8 and tap a few groups instead of doing the loop around Fort Hades and hitting a few at a time. The mission I normally use is from Veluta Lunata, a level 10-14 contact.
    • Wolf Spiders (High Pain Threshold): these spawn in multiple locations in open zones but just like the other badges I've listed so far it's far faster to run a mission full of them spawned for x8. Veluta Lunata's arc has a mission consisting almost entirely of Wolf Spiders.
    • Shivans (Megalomaniac): the only place these spawn in open zones is Bloody Bay, which exemplars you down to level 25 and puts you into the PvP ruleset. The Aeon SF has one spawn of them, but getting the badge that way would take forever. The Pilgrim has these in a level 25-50 arc, but other than that the mission people usually save is from Marshal Brass, a 15-19 contact.
    • Illusionsists (Archmage): Same deal as before, you need to defeat the summoned pets and the only way to do this one quickly is via a mission. The mission people tend to use is from Madeline Casey, a 40-44 contact.
    • Siege and Antimatter (Portal Jockey): Since you don't get either of these two from Maria Jenkins' revised arc (old one gets you Siege at least). Sure, I can wait for a Keyes trial and BAF trial to get these but that's not always practical on the lower-population servers. Antimatter comes from Tina Macintyre's level 40-44 arc, and Siege comes from a one-off mission from Maria Jenkins (45-50, but many players will get it at 45 to make the defeat faster).

Here's something else I noticed about this change while testing it: if you level up while the mission is in progress, you're still locked to your original level until you exit the mission.

Gremlins, wompwomp, outcast bosses, Tarnished Star, etc.

The most fun I had on a TF was an ITF I led, advertised as "World's Slowest ITF."

Wound up with a mellow, quippy crew, some of whom even became friends.

I'd say your runner was a rude, stubborn jerk!

But the whole damn world seems to be suffering from a plague of rude, stubborn jerks!

I ran a strugglebus ITF before.  I regretted it.

  3. Appreciate the conversation around it.  The drive behind posting it is it's one of the 2 things I've heard about on this other server that they'd like to see HC do which would potentially pull them back in.

The hazard zone bit and also the ability to run every contact at level 50 (or whatever your current level is if you've out-leveled your contact).  Frostfire at 50.  Dr. Graves at 50, what-have-you.  You never outlevel your contacts.  I think it'd be neat and I've tried it and have seen it and running Frostfire at level 50 is a lot more free-ing than running at level 10 or whatever level it's normally run at.

I'm certainly fine without it happening but I wanted to post the suggestion and get an idea as to whether or not there'd be any appetite for it.  I certainly understand some of the pitfalls.

    Thanks and regards,
    Dave

  4. Maybe the proper request then is to have GM badge kill credit shared across the league instead of having requirements for each team to do x% of damage.  The same problem exists during Halloween and the Banners and every other GM league scenario as well.

  5. There’s a 30 minute bomb lockout in the instanced MSR.  Maybe the same exists for the zone MSR, I’m not sure.  Is there any workaround for this?

2 bombs are needed to spawn the GM and we wanted to get in, get the badges and get out and repeat.

The problem with a large league is that getting kill credit on the GM depends on the team you’re on so often times you’re left with more bombs than GM kills.

Anyway, it’d be nice if there were no bomb lockout.

  6. Reporting it officially as it's officially annoying, especially for badgers.

I have a tab setup for both Hero and Villain Zone Event Messages.  If I switch from rogue to vigilante or back again then I have to remember to re-shuttle the messages back into the tab to display them.  Often times I don't remember so then I'm left possibly missing out on zone events that I need or want to take part of.

Would be a great little fix if this could be addressed.

    Thanks and regards,

    Dave

This is going to sound like a silly question, but why do you need to target Prisoner bosses? I get Warrior bosses (bind for Elite) and Family bosses (string bind for Underboss and Consigliere blue side, and either same red side or Capo in Port Oakes), but I don't get Prisoners. Not opposing the OP, just trying to understand.

There is a defeat badge (under Gladiator) for defeating 100 prisoner bosses.  It’s a pain in the butt.  This is in addition to the 500 non boss prisoners you need to defeat.

For Family red side, Capo targets the non bosses as well.  I wasn’t able to get a string of more than one word to work.

Anyway, above is the answer to why Prisoner bosses.

And these are just examples.  Akisan above provided a couple of other examples.

    Appreciate the feedback folks.

  8. Being able to target bind for rank and faction would be a nice QoL improvement for badgers.

A couple that come to mind are Warrior bosses, Prisoner bosses and Family bosses.

I know you can bind based on name but it is not sufficient for all scenarios.

Thanks in advance for your kind consideration.

  9. I had posted a question about badge credit for leader only in certain scenarios.

It's essentially this: When badging with a team and running ouro missions, there are some that only give credit to the owner.  Is there a way to tell which ones those are?

Faultline responded and gave this explanation:

There's nothing I can point out that a player will consistently see
Badges based on BadgeStat tracking still be owner only, as well as badges triggered by talking to a contact
The Shauna Braun badges are triggered by talking to a contact, but you don't think about it because the contact is the NPC you rescued in the last mission. You talk to it, and your choice gives you the badge (and cutscene)
Same for the graveyard shift, the contact you talk to is the radio at the entrance

    --

If this could be fixed so each team member gets the badge under the above conditions, that'd be great.

I appreciate your time and consideration.

    Regards,
    Dave

  10. I wasn't paying too much attention to league chat at the time, just people offering up suggestions like "switch alignment", etc and saw one or 2 others post that they didn't get any.  I don't know if anyone got them.  I'd assume so but I'm just not sure.  I'll try again at some point and certainly have alts to bring as well but this guy is going to be my next complete badger so was looking forward to wrapping up Halloween with him first and this tosses a bit of a spanner in the works.

I do know that your team (not just league)  has to do enough damage to each banner for you to be able to get those badges.

Last year, had to run several times to get them if the league went after them separately.

Yeah I've always been told it's 10% but everyone was on point it appeared.  I can't confirm this but I got credit for everything else leading up to this.  I was on a full team if I recall correctly.  People were also incanned to several or all of the points.  I didn't get credit for *any* of the banners or the Aspect.  I did get the reward table after the Aspect was defeated.  Seems unlikely our team didn't do enough, but certainly plausible.

Appreciate the info and the response.

  12. I do not already have the badges, the toon was created this year.  In a ToT league this morning I have all of the new badges including the existing ones for Jack, Eochai, up to 25 costumes (working my way towards 50), buster, shifter, hunter, the works.

When we ran the banner event, everyone was on point but I didn't get them.  Only those 5 badges are the ones that didn't grant.

I was in PI and as a vig.  Others suggested changing alignments so I tried that, no luck after changing to the other 3.

Please review and grant me the 5 badges to "Crusha's in Stitches" on Excelscior.  Global: @da crusha

I have logged a support ticket for the same and GM Trumpet directed me here to this forum.

    Thanks and regards,

That doesn't really affect me since I like to be present for my farms. My Fire/Rad Tanker can AFK farm and sometimes I do by accident when I have to suddenly run to check on the cat. But I usually run Dreck or Troll Caves. Dreck AFK is kind of impossible and Troll Farm is fine but... It's not happening. I like hitting things too much.

Yep, me too but just pointing out that it affects different segments of folks depending on what they do and how they play.  Because of the XP cut / double xp fix it's now only 66% as affective so it'll take 33% longer to get a toon from 1-50.  Since I active farm anyway I decided to go old school and use an outside map.  Harvey Naylor in this case, the demon "farm".

But there's freakshow and batlte maiden, unai's council one, etc.

Lots of options but if you want to AFK, you need to stick to AE and potentially rework your build.

Two hours of farming becomes three hours of farming. I can't complain because it really was a bug. And I only ever went from Mids to 50 once just to see how fast I can do it. As for farming changes, remember that Inspirations exist. When I'm surrounded by four mobs lobbing fireworks at me, a single Good Luck is some good mitigation for two minutes.

It does significantly impact AFK farming though which requires a rebuild in most cases.  Not the most horrible thing in the world but it's a pain in the butt.

  15. S/L/E and ranged will work fine and it's my choice still.  You'll also get a lot of N along the way.  Yes you'll take some more damage but it's survivable.  I wouldn't change anything and I'm not changing any of my toons.

Getting a ranged toon to M is tough unless you have something to boost it like Arctic Fog, Shadowfall or Steamy Mist.  On those toons I go for R and M softcaps.
