  1. Graphs, neat!  I don't have alts, I have a lot of 50 built out toons with winters, purples and ATOs as needed.  Some of the early ones I need to remake.  I find a combo, do a build or find one that looks very nice on the forum and get it to 50 in about 2.5 hours.  I have 76 level 50s now.  All accoladed as well with the 4 stat boosting accolades and demonic aura.  I went back and accoladed my toons after I had 65 or so and decided I'd dip my toes in it.  Took me a couple of months to get it done.  I do not recommend accolading after the fact but I'm happy now that it's done.

I'm thinking about taking one of my toons, attune him and run through all of the blue and redside arcs through Ouro.

TLDR; 0 alts, just a shitload of 50s.

  2. Awesome, thanks Dove.  Rad is one of my favorite armor sets, also packs on the damage with meltdown, musculuture and assault.  I wasn't aware of those scrapper specific benefits but am aware of the power of proccing those powers.

The information will certainly help others as well.

I'm glad I posted this, kinda led me to a better outcome.

    Thanks,
    Dave

  3. Yeah, I'm thinking about it but I don't know if I roll it as a brute or a scrapper.  It'd probably be a toon I take fold space on for the burn and juicy WM attacks.

I don't need help with a build, I can figure all that out but curious about opinions on scrapper or a brute for this combination.

Just how glorious are WM crits vs a an enraged brute blindly hitting everything in his path?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Or, grab the badge, get the zone on your LRTP list, and do it in one trip instead of two. Given even some of the people I play with have slower systems and/or connections, that can add up to a *lot* of saved time if they don't have to zone into a base first, run over, find the portal, and load another zone.

Sure.  I'm just sharing a perspective from someone with close to 70 toons.  I don’t have potato internet and my computer from 2012 runs the game really well.

I was sharing the tip because some might not be aware.  It's an alternative option.

  5. Apologies for throwing a gripe in here but it is on topic.

I had the name Burnin' Prick since 6/x/2019.  Vet level 620.  He's my fire farmer.  Of course there's the double meaning and innuendo while also describing each side of the powersets.  He got genericed yesterday.

It was funny, juvenile, amusing and apparently offensive.  I want to take this moment to apologize to those I hurt.

It's on the market, fellas since they don't lock the reported/genericed names, it's now open season on it.  Just beware of Karens and Chads.

I think "Enormous Genitals" is still free as well.  A generic on that I deserved.  I'm surprised nobody else has gobbled that up.

If anyone wants to pick 'em up, they're available on Excelscior.

    Dave

Overall, I hate to say it, but I really want to go back to 2.x. That also had quirks but at least the UI was usable for me and I could see what +5 enhancements will do.

Then go back to 2.x.  Certainly nothing is preventing a return to the older version.

3.0.1.9 update has been out for a few days.

Seems like a lot more fixes are on the way.

Here is the Electric Armor build I went with.  I don't play him a lot but he's fun.  I mis-remembered his defense status.  He's 35 to S/L and softcapped to Melee.  Looking at the build, I see a few changes I'd make pretty quickly but it's an older toon so I'll explain it away with that :).

    Regards,
    Dave

I just did a re-work of this guy (nrg/elec brute).  Brought S/L up to near softcap now at the cost of S/L resists (down to 65% from 89%) and it's a much more expensive build now.  3 layers:

    - Decent enough resists

    - Some regen 35.99 HP/s with Energize running, 22 without

    - Melee and S/L softcapped defenses

    - MOAR DAMAGE and MOAR RECHARGE!

    - Fixed the accolade selection choices.  Tempted to go with musculature instead of agility, meh.

I think I'll go with it.

At the end of the day, enjoy whatever you decide.  There's no wrong choice as long as you enjoy it.

It's not that you're missing anything or that anyone is wrong.  A lot of people will build for defense and you can get really effective levels of defense on characters that start with none.

*BUT* it's expensive.  Building for +regen or +recovery is pretty easy and cheap.  Building for defense is neither of these things.  And, IN MY OPINION, building for defense when you start with none means giving up too much.  Instead of defense, I could build a DPS character for massive recharge and the recovery to support it.  If I'm building a resist tank, I'll focus on +regen and +HP rather than defense.  This is just a question of personal preference.

Yep, you nailed it.  It's personal preference.  My blasters are typically softcapped to all defense types except psi and negative and with negative they're a small luck away.  It sure ain't cheap but it's fun however when you do get hit, it hurts like heck!

  9. 8 hours ago, newguy said:

But if building for defense is your goal, why would you ever choose electric armor?   Not trying to argue...just trying to understand the whole defense-resist picture better.

On almost all of my toons, across all archetypes, +defense is typically one of my priorities.  Whether it's a couple of types (s/l/e/R), almost all of the types or positional (R/M/A).

S/L/E/Ranged is pretty common and relatively affordable on the non-melee types because of the boost you can get from a power like Scorpion Shield.  This is just an example.  However if you have a toon that runs something like shadowfall or arctic fog, you can possibly go for positionals instead.

Lots of builds available on the forums, I think more often than not, +defense is sought after, as close to 45% as possible without sacrificing too much.  It certainly is for me.

  10. A proc monster build is super fun.  Plant/poison, dark/dark, fire/poison are some of my favorite proc monster trollers.

Checkout the proc monster threads for other ideas but I'm sure you can make a proc monster out of most sets.

    It turns meh into ah-meh-zing.

Here's my plant / poison as an example, most likely found in another thread some time ago but just about every attack has procs in it and it still has s/l defense softcapped thanks to the big rock armor boost.  Needs ageless or cardiac but I went with musculuture and ageless.

  11. I don't mind taking agility.  I did proc out my single target attacks.  Will give it a try later.  Thanks for also noticing the 6 slots in blazing bolt, was an oversight.  Replaced the 6th with a proc.  So was the BotZ in AM.  I also didn't realize EF was so end heavy so I did double up on the end redux there as you suggested.

I still want the procced out Choking Cloud.

    Will share the results.

    Thanks,
    Dave

  12. I don't run choking cloud during the GM fight (attempt).  Thanks for the other feedback, I often get too caught up on making sure I cap some set of defenses.  I can probably lower those to around 20% each with RI being so powerful.  This should free up some other things.

  13. Thanks, will take a look.  This is what I'm trying to use which is a few modifications from another build I found on the forums, softcapped to ranged, N and E natively and then everything with the large -tohit from RI:

  14. Hi, recently built out a fire/rad corr.  T3'd interface (-hp), hybrid (assault) and alpha (agility) with the large lore longbow pet.

    I want to solo Scrapyard.

With the pet out, I'm able to take him down to about 50% but if he kills the pet I can't do much more than maintain.  End is an issue for prolonged fights and certainly exasperated by using EM pulse.

Has anyone taken down Scrappy with a fire/rad?

    Thanks,

    Dave

  15. elec/sd is fun so here's an idea.  You can farm enemies without bosses +4x8 and the influence rate per minute/hour will be the same as with bosses (I tracked this on my spines/fire).  Drop rate will potentially be higher since you'll be defeating more enemies.  Give it a shot, I do it all the time when I have nothing specific I want to PL.

You then won't be spending cycles chipping away at bosses.

    Regards,
    Dave

  16. I just go after the 4 passives and Demonic Aura.  I get all red except Marshal.  I go for Marshal's blue-side equivalent, Atlas Medallion on blue.

I wasn't minimizing badging and I appreciate the changes made in this area either by this team or on live (I don't know):

    - a single contact for all mayhem missions (red)

    - gangbuster is now any family members (red)

    - no longer need to trap ghosts (red)

    - all kills except Scrappy and the hordelings can be done in Port Oakes (red)

    - wolf and vamp kills in Striga (blue)

The only one I need to afk farm is the damage one on the majority of my level 50+ toons.  That was my intention with this post.  It's a 1 to 3 hour afk farm, not difficult but probably not necessary.

    Regards,
    Dave
