There's a costume suggestions thread in the Suggestions forum -- it doesn't seem likely that devs are going to add costumes that are completely unrelated to anything they've made available here during the final stages of the public beta.

Yeah, I know. I don't recall anything suggested there making it to the game. That's more of a wishful thinking forum than suggestions.

Here the shorts suggestion fits in with the luau themed zone change. It has more impact (more like a 0.2% impact vs 0.1% impact).

  2. Love the addition and changes for RP locations. One place that I've always thought would be a great RP location is the interior of the Golden Giza in St. Martial. Accessing it is not as easy, though. It could also use a dinner & a show (i.e., has a stage) room.

One way to make low level characters move between certain RP-themed locations is a travel system designed for such using certain vehicles. Each vehicle gives you a teleport option to other RP locations. Outside Golden Giza could be a limo, outside the Bamboo hut is a beach buggy, or maybe just a shuttle van ("The Bar Crawl Service") at all locations (this could also be a base TP for those player-created "club" bases).  Next to the PD truck in AP could be the van (a flyer in Mercy). Perhaps the interior of GG could be made cooperative? (yeah, I know it's a special location in St. Martial so that may not be easy).

Also, with the permanent relocation of Bamboo Kat's Luau in Talos, we need accompanying costume options... Grass skirts, Flowered shirts, Coconut bras with optional straps (Chest detail), and Lei necklaces (Shoulders)... all available for all body types.

also, real shorts for male/huge (not undies) .. with plaid option (golfer's shorts 😄 ); + cut off jean shorts for all three body types.

    No bodysculpter either? Huh.

And the ambiance of seagull without any music is kind of a turn off?

No rock band or ravers in the basement?

The "back" door is probably hinged backwards, too? It should open so the hinge is away from the street, I think.

Phil! (and no, not the TV show Murphy Brown's Phil)

I used this guy a lot as a bartender when making screenshots using Titan Icon, usually in Studio 55 behind the main bar always chatting up the customers (talk emote). I named him Phil. He's got a (almost?) twin brother if I recall (might have dark hair).

    Do they have names now?

Why not Coralax for the underwater foes? It /is/ where they come from.

So would the underwater areas be access by a gate or other click transition point and everything is underwater? Or would you be able to swim down there from any point in FF? (If you can swim down there by just jumping in the water anywhere in FF, that brings up the problem of water-air interface character controls.) Thematically, how would non-aquatic characters breathe down there?

You have an interesting idea, I think it just needs to have the particulars ironed out.

Edit: I should be clearer. I do not expect you to solve the water-air interface problem. That is for the devs. It is a problem partially avoided by the current water tile settings. Since you can't stand in it, you have to stand on some thing the tile is resting on, or you just fall through and the water-air interface problem is simply ignored by not needing a swim power. Just a swim emote to temporarily replace the walk/run animation.

I'd forgotten about the Coralax. They would work as an enemy. Although, aren't they a low level group?  I still like merfolk as friends but getting fish tails to look and move well might be a big challenge.

Some of the doors that lead downward, manhole covers and the door that looks like it leads to stairs going down would work.  Or swimming. There could be air pockets below that the merfolk keep around to use for some reason (grow own "above" ground food?).  Or coralax use them as prisons for their "food" captured from above.

Instead of just a Swim power, put that in a Swimming power pool (I mentioned that) and add a Breathe Water power. Or, like there are jetpacks for flying, make Breathing Mask as an item. Those could be modified later for vacuum use.

    Why a water zone doesn't work -

I don't know what comics have done since I haven't read any in ages.

One issue with water: some powers would work differently. Fire would not work at all. Physical objects are slowed considerably. Bullets would work, but weapons firing bullets would have their range shortened. Sword and staff powers would act like Titan Weapons in some respect. Titan Weapons could be left alone. Perhaps sword and staff powersets could have underwater weapon options, like trident, with it's own animations. Or use those animations that thrust the weapon forward.

Has any MMO-like game added underwater zones?  Is it worth it?

  6. I know there's been a desire to have a water zone. But what is in it? After reading another post about 30+ content not being liked, a thing I share because 1) I never liked Brickstown, 2) Founders' Falls is neat, but the villains are less so.   We have more CoT and more Council? *snore* DE could disappear from the game as far as I'm concerned. Rikti and Crey are fine where they are at. So, how can we jazz up the place and make use of the canal aesthetic?

Add underwater levels. Like Venice, a city built upon itself as it sinks, FF could be the same but there's a cover up. Developers 🤑 would be hard pressed to sell condos if it was widely known that the place constantly sinks.  So the underwater maps are about two to three levels deep,  so we can have the multi-story rooms most missions maps use. I don't know how deep (-2000.. so Titan Icon map tells me 😄 )  the underwater maps can go, but perhaps two separate map levels could be put in. And one very deep map where a zone monster prowls (FF doesn't have one besides the occasional Kronos Titan from a mission).

What would be the new enemy?  Why merfolk of course,  good and bad. And/or maybe something else. One thing that can happen above the water is you hear soft voices, perhaps giggling, but when you round the corner you hear a splash and there are ripples in the water.  You never see them above water even though they like sunning themselves.

How do you swim underwater?  A Swim power is added at second level, just like Walk (and they are mutually exclusive, you can't have both on). When activated you can go below water. As far as breathing, hmmm, maybe there needs to be a Swim power pool ( 😄 ) instead?

I can hear it now: "I want merfolk tails!"  Yeah, that would be cool, too.

Maybe that's a bit more ambitious than our incredible dev team is capable of, but it was nice to speculate.  Thanks for listening.

PS. yeah yeah, don't tell me about redside, or gloomside as I refer to it: maybe something similar could be placed near the Golden Giza?  They serve a specialty: Seafish Tail, from the tails from captured and killed merfolk (you get that red side is evil, right?). That might be a lead in (a cook contact just outside GG?) on redside about discovering the underwater maps.

edit: forgot something: Oranbega could have an underwater section there, too. Then we have fishy CoT fighting merfolk in that area to control it.

I got Stalked on Everlasting once.  Me!  Because I played my Brute....like a Brute.  Team Leader wanted me in the teams tight AoE circle AT ALL TIMES.  So...that didnt work.  Then they followed me around and posted following any chat message I sent and stalked me on the boards.  Went on for about a week.  Those people are bat SHIT crazy.

I usually play on Everlasting. I agree, most of them are bat shit crazy (I'm my own version of crazy). But at least half will have something written in their description. Some will even say things in team chat the few times I team (mostly TFs), unlike other servers that are just as quiet as if I was soloing.

Oh, at least we don't have fleas. 😉

Except that this is typically an existing toon and now I have to recreate their face from memory?  No thanks.

Edit (e.g., copy/paste from one file to another) the top part of the costume file, where all the slider values are located. Whether the clothes fit is another thing as there are female/male (and maybe huge but I don't make those characters) tags on costume pieces.

WARNING (and I hesitated posting this): you can mess things up, but then the CC won't load the file, do it with a copy of the original file. I played around with these files for a couple of years when the only thing we could play with was TITAN ICON. *sigh* One could load costumes directly on map and this bypass the CC's restrictions, so I had many pieces of different colors than the limited ones provided (a bluer blue, a more purple purple - see my avatar, can't get that color in game; also note the texture of the dress 😄, etc). I also played with the Scale number: 1900: 5 stories tall, 4500: 15 stories tall, 7000: too distorted. Also, those scales made the game go reaaaalllly slooooooow as I walked down the street. And -99 Scale is pretty much invisible, useful for taking screenshots without the character being in the way/must be in first person view. These are not legal scales. 🙂

Speaking of the Wild West, there's this game that I play on and off. It's called The Outdoors.
    ...

But those pesky bugs are everywhere!

The day/night cycle is really slow.

    You do get weather effects.

    Hair has motion.

You have life-like moving fingers and your feet don't look like club ends.

You can have various vehicles but travel powers are limited.

No demon pets (others' children notwithstanding) and lion and wolf pets are illegal in most areas.

Playing "redside" will get you put into the "Zig" really fast and possibly for a long time.

Maybe the trick here isn't to try to compare to modern games, but to lean heavily into the "retro" vibe.  Homecoming is the Vinyl of Games.  The Medium Format film of MMOs.  The 16mm Bolex of ... er ... Games ... I guess.

    🤷‍♂️

    The Black Velvet of games.

  12. The normal play economics is horrible for low levels: lousy INF gain, way too expensive DOs and SOs when buying them. Upgrading them is way too expensive as well. IOs can stay where they are: a player's market, but the "normal" method of enhancing powers has always been way over priced.  Suggestion: triple INF gain from mobs, quadruple those given as "tips" and that is not affected by the 2xp booster option, and halve the price of regular enhancements and their upgrading. I don't think people will be oozing more INF than they do now.

I do not know how that affects new player retention, but it might in some small way.

When making a new character you are not given a contact. You should. A new player will not know what to do. Unless the tutorial gives you one, but I have not done that in years. One should be given whether the new character has or not done the tutorial.  Also, those first contacts take more than one mission to be able to call them. Change it so they can be called as soon as you go up to one, no matter if you completed a mission or not. I like those old first missions, most had a somewhat unique map.

Old game? I've played others. I still like this one. Would nicer graphics be welcome? Yes. Do we want faces that change expression? Yes. Do we want flowing hair?  Yes.  Fingers? Yes. Bare feet that do not look like the end of a club?  (a thousands x) Yes.  But I will still play this game without those things, although it is not me this thread is aimed at.

This is pretty much every sports fan out there, or at least in live game chats.  There's never acknowledging that the other team or opponent just played better in that play or moment. A few try to point out what really happened but most fans have their virtual fingers in their ears ignoring any reasonable explanation.

As far as this game goes...

Yeah, eating a yellow, a small one anyway, means you will miss.  That's why I have a macro that turns 3 small yellows (and greens, blues, oranges) into a red.

I'd pick Atlas Park since the upgrade. It's prettier. Lots of shops (especially a game store!). I really like Imperial City but the lack of shops, besides liquor and coffee, is noticeable to me.

So another whiny post of "waaaaah! I have to lift my pinkie to do something!  waaaaaah!"

Be glad we don't have to get to the tram station in the snow uphill (well, uphill in AP we do), and leave the station to go uphill in the snow to get to our mission.

I wonder what a "uphill in the snow both ways" map would actually look like. Maybe something Escherish?  😄
