I don't care for it, but then I also generally don't care for simple "no" or "thumbs-down" replies to posts, that don't provide any context.  Heck, at least tell me why you think the suggestion is dumb or bad or whatever.  If you explain your position, I might even agree with you.  Not knowing or understanding why you don't like the suggestion kind of drives me crazy.

But, eh- maybe that's the whole point of those kind of replies.  🤷‍♂️

Sometimes one's feelings cannot be expressed properly by words.

For example, the post about XP gain efficiency or whatever. I roll my eyes at that. I hate HATE min/max talk and I cannot express that hatred in words that might stay civil. I want to /jranger that thread, although I never have done the /jranger thing. I'll show some restraint and ignore that thread before my blood pressure spikes.

I've been doing this a lot more lately. It's one of the reasons I choose flares over fire blast. Unfortunately, every time I do it, a fight breaks out in my brain starting with, "ya know, you could be killing this guy faster..."

I like the T1 lower damage blaster powers, not just because they still can be fired while mezzed, for Entropic Chaos heal proc (I usually put the whole set there) and Devastation hold proc. You mez me, I mez you back (once in awhile anyway; lmao when a Ruin Mage gets held).

Darned typos! You know what he meant 😁😅🤪

Actually, I don't. Then BZB tells us something slightly different.

Anyway, I tried this out on my level 26, after respec to get 6 slots into Sweeping Strike.

    meh.

So boring repeating a 3 or 4 attack sequence over and over and over and over.  Sorry, but IMO that was not fun. Neither is watching for the colored circles to appear. I think I'll go back to "whatever is the most fun to watch my character eviscerate the enemies" method of play.

  4. I would hate to be the person to have to read 1024-5000 character-count badly written short stories of members of the Mary and Marty Sue family.

So one 1023 character-count category for heroes AND villains, yet heroes and villains each get their own categories for 1024+?

Or is this some attempt at free reading material?  Or steal someone else's work for comic book/role-playing NPCs' backstories for future publications?

Suggestion: have bio character description contests IN the game. This seems like an obvious thing to do so it makes me suspicious of this contest.

After some thinking, I'll pass on submitting my own work I have had to edit and rewrite to fit into a 1023 character-count description.

Aaaaand this right here is why DB is trash tier even when you ignore everyone and their dog having lethal resist.  As convoluted as the combo system is, you'd expect some actual reward for pulling it off.  Instead you get a little text popup telling you "Congratulations, you pushed your buttons in an order the powers themselves don't bother explaining properly!  And your reward for that is JACK SHIT!"

The fact that you have to actively go digging for what effect that combo actually had is proof positive that the whole set, in its present state, is a waste of time and code.  If you're expected to press 3+ buttons in a specific sequence to get a bonus effect, that bonus better have some "wham" to it.

    This kind of "wham"? 😄

Well I don't know what to tell you, Troo. If you don't like disintegration, either stop playing BR or deal with it. This isn't CO, powersets all have an identity.

bah. I want to go pew-pew-pew instead of rat-a-tat-tat. I want a laser rifle but hate the disintegration combo thingy. I rerolled my "future" BR character into an AR character. I'm still disappointed (doesn't help that Full Auto seems less than fulfilling for a T9).

....you do not start out with a undersea volcano super base.  From what I seen you could probably build something that comes close.  If you had the talent, time, and inclination.

Has anyone built one of these yet in their base?   Cuz, I'd love to see it, and I don't play villains.  I mean, why can't a hero have one of those?  Is there some written or unwritten law against it?

the Flop in St Martial is the redside traditional way.  1-2 bosses per spawn in an endless figure 8 around two bldgs

    Interesting.

Being a bluesider I go to Striga, especially at night when they and warrior bosses are setting up bombs. So I can hunt for two different badges and blow up bombs at the same time.

Or just be bribed and play CoV every now and then.  It's not like you're in a marriage till death do you part when you play any of the redside of CoX. If you can play a patron arc for some power pool choices, why can't you play a SF or help some lowbie team for a bit of exp or some merits?

     (fixed it for ya)

You mean villains, er, redsiders, do not have handlebar mustaches and kidnap players to tie them to a train track monorail buoy surrounded by sharks to force them to marry for their land playtime?  😄

  10. There are many things to hunt for defeat badges. When someone "interferes" with my hunting, I go hunt something somewhere else.

My particular about hunting for defeat badges is that I want to do it myself when street hunting. So I decline attempts at teaming to do them. I'll move elsewhere if someone(s) start hunting in my area. The exceptions are 500 skulls, or Croatoa hunts (333 each). No, I don't want to do missions with those particular mobs in them specifically for the badges, except maybe Moonfire.

My favorite: outcast bosses in Steel Canyon. When your level is in the teens (10-20) and you hunt those bosses about +1 or +2 levels you get about a bar of experience per killed defeated boss. I like Steel Canyon as well.

I've long said they need to do something to help badgers get Sally.  Something like...I dunno, maybe doubling her hit points.

I'd rather they give her a body to see as she dives after bopping her nose.

Also, I'd like to see some dead headless firbolg laying on the shore. Doesn't Sally like spicy pumpkins as a dessert after dining on fish? 😉

From a game design perspective I've always wondered why the TO->DO->SO system was abandoned for the IO system.

Wasn't a crafting system desired by players at the time?  That's what the IO system does, as well as power creep.

An idea: SOs can be combined, similar to multi-bonus IOs now. Combine an Acc SO with a Dam SO and get an Acc/Dam S2(abbrev?). Combine that with a Rech SO and get Acc/Dam/Rech S3. Perhaps it costs influence (of course), and maybe an additional component if some more involved crafting system was desired.

edit: the additional component could be a lesser enhancement; examples: DO+DO+TO=D2. SO+SO+DO=S2.

  13. I would like the waterfalls to be better graphically.  Especially the ones in Eden and the northern island of Nerva (with the cave underneath). But that probably will never happen, or by 2040 with the redo of those maps.

Thanks for the screenshots. My aged hamsters appreciate it. They hate it when I turn graphics to max even for a few seconds. 😉

  14. My desktop (had it playing CoX back on live) and tablet are 10+ years old, so I'll let someone else get a screenshot if they want.

Any sunset on the water with no war walls.  The green mist in Perez Park, I'm afraid that might get lost on a remake of PP. Atlas' City Hall floor with the "reflection" (yeah, I know how they did it). St. Martial's casino street at night, sans mobs.

I don't get the "Matrix" room. I think it's boring.

  15. This is all malarky anyway.  If you really wanted to apply real world morality and physics to the game then every zone would look like Boomtown: demolished with all the AOE powers going off as well as all the missed shots. When you miss with that energy beam where does it go? And there would be no one walking the streets except those with mediport privileges.

Just play the GAME.  'nuff said.

    (hah!)
