Fiery Embrace damage is not added as a proc.  It's a conditional effect on every power in melee primaries.  Things like Interface or Hybrid Assault or Sentinel Opportunity are added as procs.

I just refer to it as a proc since it adds an entirely separate damage number to most of your attacks.

  2. Energy Melee/Fiery Armor. My Tank can hit for over 1k on +4 bosses with only moderate buffs/debuffs and Fiery Embrace active. Energy Transfer and Total Focus have a great base damage and they synergize incredibly well with Fiery Embrace and the flat fire damage it adds as a proc. This also allows you to surpass the damage cap with Fiery Embrace active 😄

On a Scrapper this would be even more hilariously OP. Fiery Embrace is often under looked, but it's an incredibly powerful damage buff under the right conditions. It's effectiveness increases exponentially with damage buffs, -resistance debuffs, etc.. which means if you are at the damage cap, it increases your damage beyond that with the proc damage.

    Could you post the build??

I can! This isn't the build I had mentioned when this update was in beta (builds are ever changing) but it is my most current build I've been messing around with.

And also, the values seem off, first time using the new Mids for the post, but base I have I believe 49.22% fire defense and yes 90%+ resistance, so there is a lot of room to play.

During a run my choice of Invisibilty and skipping the Fitness pool and the omnipresent Tough and Weave came up. For me Invisibilty gives a base 8% fire defense (I believe working from memory), and with the just using the native slot for a LoG 7.5% recharge it seemed like a no brainer over Weave. 2 powers no extra slots, 3 powers that have to be slotted to be at all useful.

    Thoughts?

You can't use attacks with Invisibility on. Also, Stealth gets half of its defense value taken away once you attack or are attacked. They are good for LoTG mules and the like. Not much else, at least not in a farming scenario.

  5. Here is a different approach to a Spines/Fire build. I've been building and rebuilding my two farmers for several years now and this is the best one so far I think. Perma-hasten is easily achieved between Ageless and a FFB+Recharge proc from Ripper. Every attack has one or more procs, Fire Ball hits like a truck and recharges pretty quick even with no recharge enhancement in it thanks to the massive recharge numbers this build can pump out. It has 3 damage procs and they have a 72% chance to proc, which is nuts for an AoE power. I would definitely look into finding creative ways to add more procs into your build. It even has a -resistance proc in there too. Burn, Spine Burst, Fire Ball and Ripper are gapless, you will always have an AoE option.

You can actually get to 90% Fire resistance easily without Plasma Shield. So many of the sets we use for farm builds have the 6% Fire, Cold resistance bonus, so dropping Plasma Shield means you can pick a more useful power and free up some slots. Both of our defense values are actually lower then they seem because of Stealth. So this build and your build are actually just under 42% Fire defense, which is more than enough if you either A. Have accolades or B. Are not AFK farming. I AFK farm with a Rad/Fire Brute with a build almost identical to this, they don't have accolades and neither has died on an AFK farm.

Are you running some kind of script to automate them or a controller that hits every button in rapid succession?  Are you running multiple machines or tabbing between instances of CoH on the same one?

No script, just Burn on auto. I do tab through instances to set them up initially. But once I get both Brutes in the middle of the map, pop hasten and whatever else is beneficial (Ageless, Assault Hybrid, sometime I pop both build ups and also use my Judgment/PBAoE that isn't on auto.)

Other than that and resetting the mission I don't do anything. It can be tab heavy though if you want to AFK farm quickly. You'll find yourself resetting every 5 mins or so.

  7. I have a build overview of both of those farm builds here. Definitely low maintenance. You load both of them into the asteroid farm map (I use arc ID: 125), go to the middle of the map with one Brute following the other, making sure to have Burn on auto, use your Ageless Destiny power and switch to a different window. I've farmed billions of influence while watching Netflix, updating resumes or sending e-mails. They have zero accolades and only rely on the build alone. They have not died once while farming AFK as a pair. Solo can be a bit tricky.

  8. This is what I use to AFK farm/manually farm. You don't need Plasma Shield to get to 90% Fire resistance if you build right. This opens up another power pick and frees up some slots, etc. As a rule of thumb, typically you want to skip the Dmg/Rchg purple IOs. Most powers (except for Soul Drain, Shield Charge, etc) recharge quick enough without it. It could be less than a .5 second difference but it might lower your proc rate by like 10%, resulting in a loss of DPS. Managing your AoE is harder than you might think.Your first build had all 3 AoE attacks from Mu. This is actually overkill as you have 3 'good' AoE powers (Burn, Atom Smasher and Ball Lightning) and 2 'bad' AoE powers (Static Discharge and Electrifying Fences).

With the build I posted. Burn, Atom Smasher and Ball Lightning are almost gapless. I opted to take Cross Punch as an AoE option and also to boost recharge. As long as you use Cross Punch when appropriate, your 3 main AoE attacks will recharge very quickly. Speaking of recharge, I would highly recommend putting 2 +5 level 50 Recharge Redux IOs in Fiery Embrace and 1 +5 Recharge Redux in Fusion. That's about all I can say. This build is pretty nasty if you want to test it out.

  10. Heyo! Been away from the game for awhile, also haven't posted a forum topic in awhile and I missed you all :3

Happy New Years to everyone! This is going to be pretty straightforward, just sharing some builds here. No obnoxiously large and bold headings here (although, I AM tempted....) ahem....

Anyways, these are the two Brutes I have been using to AFK farm and I have been having really great success with them. If I get behind the wheel I can sometimes clear the asteroid farm map before my T4 Ageless expires (2 minutes.) Just AFK farming you can expect to 'clear' the map in about 5 minutes on average. I call it AFK farming, but if you're doing the asteroid map you can clear so quickly you start wondering if you're AFK at all.

So let's start off with the Spines/Fire Brute whom I had to name "Generic Farmer."

Pretty simple stuff. You might notice I don't have 45% defense to Fire... Heresy... Right? Well, both Brutes have Maneuvers and Tactics,  which means when I afk farm with them both (which is all the time), my Fire defense jumps up to 45%+... I forget the actual number. But they have never died on an AFK farm, so there's that! Also, having Tactics on both Brutes really helps out since your AoE attacks have a lower base accuracy. I normally just put Burn on auto, hence the AFK farmer part of this whole thing, but sometimes... I'll actually drive. Outside of the double Ageless buffs, perma-hasten is easily achieved via a few Force Feedback procs from Ripper. Build Up and Fiery Embrace recharge so quickly on both of these Brutes it's actually sort of annoying. There are zero gaps between all of your AoE but the perfect attack chain goes something like this... Burn -> Fire Ball -> Spine Burst -> Ripper -> Fire Ball or Burn -> repeat. Sometimes I will skip a rotation of Ripper and opt for a PBAoE that is recharged, but you do want to squeeze them in there as it really pumps up the recharge on Build Up/Fiery Embrace, Fire Ball and Burn. Not really sure what else to say here... Soooo.. next!

Now for the Rad/Fire whom I call "Less Generic Farmer." At the time, Spines/Fire were everywhere and Rad/Fire was not. Now I'm not so sure who's more generic! 😛

Alright, so this one I think is the better AFK farmer. And pretty much for one reason only. Irradiated Ground and procs. If you didn't know, Irradiated Ground drops a patch every 5 seconds. Why does this matter? Well, normal damage auras, like Blazing Aura, have a chance for procs to activate every 10 seconds. Well, what does that mean? It means your proc rates are doubled in Irradiated Ground, which means every 5 seconds you have a chance for free damage and that is HUGE on an AFK farmer. It also inherently debuffs enemy defense and has a chance to reduce their damage resistance via a proc. Outside of all that fancy talk, it's pretty much the same thing here as the Spines/Fire. Perma-hasten, less than 45% Fire defense when solo, a gapless AoE chain and a chance to boost your recharge via Cross Punch. As per usual, Burn takes priority here and is always on auto. But when I do farm by my own hand I do an attack chain like this; Burn -> Atom Smasher -> Ball Lightning -> Burn or Cross Punch -> repeat. It is rare that I use Electrifying Fences, maybe only occasionally throwing it in every 4th or 5th rotation or if I get really unlucky and get zero Force Feedback procs. If you do use Electrifying Fences, I would recommend using it only after the mobs have grouped up on you.

    Figured I'd go over Incarnates here. What to pick and why;

Alpha slot - Musculature Core Paragon- This is definitely the Alpha to pick here. Especially on an AFK farmer since you won't be combining and mashing inspirations like a madman until you are at damage cap. This also helps shore up the lack of damage slotting in Ball Lightning, Fire Ball and Cross Punch.

Interface slot - Degenerative Core Flawless/Reactive Core Flawless  - Someone with the numbers can clarify this, but I believe Degenerative slightly outperforms Reactive. Hard to go wrong with either pick here, though.

Judgement slot - Pyronic Total Core/Ion Total Core  - Ion is hands down the better option here. I took it on my Rad/Fire Brute for thematic reasons. Took Pyronic on my Spines/Fire for thematic reasons. I appreciate both but Ion is better.

Destiny slot - Ageless Core Epiphany - Just take it. Don't ask where it came from, what's in it. Just trust me and take it.

Hybrid slot - Assault Radial Embodiment - Assuming you will manually farm sometimes, the chance for double hit Hybrid is far superior since you can and should be at the damage cap sometimes.

Lore slot - Banished Pantheon Radial Superior Ally - I haven't tested all the Lore pets here (shoot me) but I am pretty confident this is the best one. The Defiler that it spawns is untouchable, can draw aggro, buffs you AND has a location AoE rain power that does some serious damage.

So there we have it. These are my two AFK farming Brutes and I have been having tons of success with them. If anyone hasn't done this, here's what you do.
    1. Make sure you have two accounts (or more ;D)
    2. Have one of these Brutes on one account and the other on... the other account.

    3. Level them up, you can solo farm a /Fire Brute to level 50 in one day if you have the time. M3z has a great tutorial
    4. Sup @M3z
    5. Type in 'Fire farm' in AE, find which one you like. I personally use the Bloody Rainbow Comicon Asteroid farm map. (arc ID 125)
    6. Hop into the mission with both Brutes, spawn your Lore pets, buff yourself with your Ageless and turn on your Hybrid, find the NPC that draws aggro if there is one, gather as many mobs as possible and... Do nothing! Just stand there.
    7. Profit.

    Welcome back, Camel!

    My first impressions:

    • I see you went for Scorpion shield and softcap S/L/E. This works fine, but I think the new buffs to flash arrow are a great opportunity to instead take an epic resist shield and rely on Flash arrow to make up the difference. Otherwise it's a bit of wasted potential.
    • I would highly recommending focusing instead on procs in ice arrow. It is a beautiful ST attack when slotted this way. Without procs, it's just a slightly slow ST hold that does neat things in PvP.
    • I would put the Sup Def Bastion in something else ideally. It works okay in OSA, but you are wasting proc potential in OSA, and the accuracy here is largely wasted as well. Personally I drop in in Disintegrate so I can make regular use of the Bastion proc.
    • I don't think PGA really needs anything but base slot, really. This could free up some room for the 6th slot in disintegrate that would be needed for my previous suggestion.
    • I'm guessing the missing IO in Combat Jumping is the resist scaling IO?
    • I like your Piercing Beam slotting.
    • Cutting Beam is a tough skip here. It's your only aoe besides your Nuke. It also has great proc potential, and is an efficient damage dealer with an easy cone. TA positions wherever it wants, so a cone should work fine. I can see why you may have chosen to skip though - the build is tight with strong power picks. The newly buffed TA powers make me want to pick them all as well! Personally, I'd drop superspeed and put the extra slot in CJ for KB protection.
    • As for where else you may find slots - you seem to have focused heavily on recharge here. The new TA doesn't really need recharge that much, as its powers don't stack and they are up every combat anyhow (except EMP and OSA - I generally rotate these). You could probably consolidate your slots a bit on attacks if you aren't chasing these set bonuses. This is worth examining even if you don't need to mine slots for cutting beam. I would prefer a more procced out snipe a vs a recharge bonus.

Overall it's actually a fairly clean build! None of these are fundamental criticisms, but simply a different way I would personally approach this combo.

Here is my TA/A build for reference. A few 1:1 comparisons in the blasts, and of course the primary is the same:

Here is my second go at it.

    - Went with the Mu Epic for my resist shield, Managed to get S/L/E/N, Melee and Ranged defense to respectable numbers before debuffs are applied.
    - Procced out Ice Arrow, looks like it's some good DPA. Not a bad idea. Haven't tested out my ST rotation though. I know TA/Beam (lol let's be real TA/Anything is going to be click heavy)... So I may slot this as a mule like I did previously if my ST rotation is fine without it and the clicking is too much.
    - Definitely wasted proc potential. I saw someone else do it and didn't give it any further thought lmao. Slotting is tight... But 74%ish recharge and damage seems okay here. Do my Beam Rifle attacks ignite OSA? What about my fire damage procs?
    - I was curious as to whether or not my slotting would work. The heal seemed nice, the placate seemed overkill.
    - Yes, for some reason if you slot ATOs, you can't slot Reactive Defenses scaling res IO? It's been doing it to me on my version of Mids.
    - Seemed like a nice slotting to me too. Even got that cheeky 5% range bonus lmao.
    - It was a tight build, in hindsight, I do need the AoE. OSA recharges a lot slower than I thought and I wouldn't be able to rely on it alone.
    - I just like having Hasten as close as possible to perma. Definitely less recharge in this second build, but still a decent amount, naturally.

Slots are really tight. Considering dropping a slot or two from Charged Shield and putting them elsewhere. Not sure what I would put where. Maybe more KB protection, 4 works for me, but 8 is nice. A Kismet wouldn't be a bad idea either, or maybe chasing more recharge in OSA.

  12. This is my first crack at a Trick Arrow/Beam Manipulation. I've been on a recent hiatus, haven't played the game in over a month. But I was excited to see the new Mids come out so I made this. How's it look to the veteran TA players? On paper it looks pretty good to me. But I have yet to test it.

So i put a build together. Any constructive feedback would be verry appriciated.

This is what I came up with. Really... You're only weakness here is single target damage, so I tried to beef that up a bit, or at least make it stomachable in between mass AoE destruction. Jacob's Ladder is (from what I've heard) much better on Tanks. It activates nearly as quick as Havoc Punch anyways, but on a Tank, because you hit more targets and more easily, it becomes just that much better.. so we picked it up here for added AoE and to use as a single target style attack too. The rest of your single target attack chain will be Charged Brawl, Chain Induction and Mu Lightning. Not great, but every AT but one has to sacrifice something for the massive amounts of AoE Electric Melee has. (Stalkers.. I'm looking at you)

AoE... Definitely no shortage here. Jacob's Ladder is your first available AoE and will do quite well with the increased target cap and AoE capabilities. A procced out Radiation Therapy is your second available AoE, you don't have to proc this power out with Rad/Elec... but why not? With no recharge enhancement, 5 procs and Thunder Strike supplying +recharge from Force Feedback procs this power will do work. The slotting I used makes it a mini nuke and also a potential PBAoE debuff! Thunder Strike is our next AoE and I see a lot of people using this power as a single target attack. Do NOT do this, and let me tell you why. Thunder Strike takes a whopping 3.3 seconds to activate... In that time you can attack an enemy with Charged Brawl, Chain Induction, Mu Lightning AND ALMOST another Charged Brawl in the same amount of time. Yikes. But on the flip side, once you are surrounded by mobs this power is pretty dang good and a very reliable spot to put a Force Feedback proc to boost your recharge. Ground Zero is normally a good place for procs, but I've always loved putting the Superior Avalanche in it for the 5% Melee Defense and the proc is very good in Ground Zero. You can hit upwards of 30 foes... so you'll see a lot of baddies flop often, very good damage mitigation. Finally you got Lightning Rod, pretty self explanatory here... You just nuke stuff. 😜

Hope you enjoy the build! I didn't put any incarnates on it, so you could easily bump up some of the values for resistance with something like Resilient or Cardiac Alpha. 45%+ defense to Melee, 33% to Smash/Lethal.. tons of resistances and absorb shields.. Should be pretty tough!

*edit- Since you have so much AoE with Elec Melee already, you could take 2 of the slots (minimum) from Radiation Therapy and put one slot in Chain Induction and Lightning Rod for the 6th piece set bonus of 6% Psi resist. This would put you at the resistance cap for psionics with only one ATO stack.

They're a good pair.  It's just that people don't post every single possible combo. If you look through the forums you'll find plenty of Rad builds to load into Mids, then you can just change the secondary to EM.  Plus Energy Melee is about to get a buff so people are really digging into it.

Camel's Fire/Energy guild will tell you all about EM as it stands now and if you scroll down he has a Rad/EM build in there too.

Here's one a guild on Radiation Armor:

Thanks for the shout out! I feel some updated Energy Melee builds in the works! (Although, I may use the current build on my FA/EM Tank, Power Crash seems eh to me and I like the double PbAoE of Burn + Whirling Hands)

  15. This is a build I came up with. I liked the concept myself. Could probably be a lot better, add some procs, etc. But this build has almost soft-capped Defense to a variety of damage types and positions, perma-Hasten and Soul Drain with a few procs from Force Feedback in Psionic Tornado. Wouldn't be a bad build, but as others have stated, when enemies DO resist Psi... you will notice. But you'll also notice when they don't.. Cyclps that pop Unstoppable, for example. With perma-Soul Drain and Psi damage... you'll take them out relatively quick.

  16. I've thought about making one for awhile now. This is probably what I would mess around with if I made a Fire/Spines.

Thanks for posting a build i always like seeing what other players come up with. Having lots of soft control is great i originally ran with water spout and hibernoob for just that reason but i had to split the scrapper set to get the defence bonuses so that build didn't last long. How is the accuracy vs +4's, i see no tactics/focused acc or a kismet? Being able to alternate between barrier/meltdown/shadow meld will be very beneficial it seems like soul is the epic i'm going to end up having to take. I like running spiritual on rad tanks i do love the recharge and extra heal, for the scrapper i went musc, not sure about intuition-its holds and slow vs musc end mod and immob i feel like musc is the better pick as i don't think rad does any slow does it or is it for the - rech of psi attacks? I don't have any holds/immobs in the build and i have noticed it can go through massive amounts of endurance very fast and when i look up the blue bar has vanished so quickly i started considering ageless. I was struggling to fit many damage procs in and keep def+res numbers high, your build has less in but the psi res is so much higher i think i'll go that direction. With psi i seem to 1-2 shot everything or spend 10 min swinging at enemy's and watching their hp barely shift, same problem my psi/nin blaster had 27 attacks to take down a low level robot eb 😛

The majority of my own personal builds do not have Tactics or Kismet's slotted. A few do, but not most. They seem to have little issue but I also haven't done extensive testing with my accuracy, they all feel fun to play so it must be good, right? XD I would imagine with Beta Decay and Ground Zero debuffing enemy defense that you would have little issue hitting the majority of unbuffed, +4 mobs. If accuracy is still an issue you could take a Impervium Armor +Psi Res IO out and slot a Kismet in Combat Jumping. If you still need more to-hit, you could then drop Super Speed for Tactics, at the cost of a travel power and 20% slow resist. Intuition boosts Holds, Damage, Defense Debuffs and To-Hit Debuffs. But... On second evaluation, Musculature Radial is slightly superior for this build. It's hard to fit all the procs in... If I had the slots I would. This is only my first go at this build, spent a few minutes coming up with it. For my personal builds, I spend hours.. So there might be a way to get soft-capped/near soft-capped defenses, near hard-capped resists, perma Hasten AND loads of procs in Ground Zero and Radiation Therapy... But I doubt it. Just looking at this build tells me you'd have to sacrifice somewhere. Having the Avalanche proc in Ground Zero is HUGE. It hits so many targets, and because of the high recharge it's almost a guaranteed knockdown to every mob in range. You could change the slotting to one +3 Acc/Dam Hami-O, Superior Avalanche KD proc, and 3 damage procs... But I'm not sure the tradeoff would be worth it. My Fire/Psi Tank seemed to do decent damage, but he had Fiery Embrace, Burn and Blazing Aura... I was also in the Tank mindset for damage. But still, with two purple procs in Greater Psi Blade, after a Build Up and Insight strike you will notice some good burst.

  18. I have a Fiery Aura/Psi Melee Tank that I play extensively... here's what I know so far and a build I came up with for your Scrapper. It's a nice middle ground of Resists, Defense and Recharge. Between your near capped resists, 41% Melee Defense, Heals/Absorb shields, Shadow Meld, Meltdown AND Barrier... You should be nigh un-killable. This is before you take into consideration the damage mitigation from your primary and other forms of damage mitigation I haven't mentioned from your secondary. Mass Levitate is great, it does some decent damage, almost assures you get Insight as long as you aren't locked out, great place to get oodles of recharge from Force Feedback AND sends enemies flying, which means they can't damage you. I like to combo Psi Blade Sweep after Mass Levitate, if you time and line it up right the damage from Mass Levitate will happen as the damage from Psi Blade Sweep happens. Follow this up with Ground Zero with the Superior Avalanche KD Proc and even MORE baddies are flopping around. By this time Mass Levitate should be recharged and you rinse and repeat. You also get the debuffs/buffs from Beta Decay.

Hasten is almost perma at 127 seconds recharge with 1 enemy in range. This can easily be made perma between being surrounded by mobs and getting one or two Force Feedback +recharge procs to go off. So it's practically guaranteed. You can cycle between Shadow Meld and Barrier for the times you really need it. If you are teaming that should be overkill, but solo you might still run into some issues at +4x8 if you play recklessly. For Alpha slot... you have a lot of options. Cardiac/Resilient would cap or nearly cap Smash/Lethal, Energy, Fire, Toxic and Psi resists. Spiritual would give you stupid amounts of recharge and some more healing. Musculature.... more damage and you can even boost your defense debuffs. Intuition Radial might seem like an odd choice, but boosts your Holds, Defense Debuffs, To-hit Debuffs and Damage. All of which are a benefit to you. Check it out. 😄

Ah, you missed this from my post above!

-> Looks like swapping out blazing aura for fiery embrace nets a lot of damage for 20 secs uptime, 28 sec downtime. <-

I can totally do without blazing aura. Yes, its free damage. No, it isn't really meaningful when everything croaks in a FS alpha.

On the ToF side of things, it looks like 4 procs and 2 dam in it produces more damage over time. Whether it is worth sacrificing the 7.5 fc/ 7.5 aoe is another question.

Blazing Aura and Fiery Embrace are both staples. If you can't fit both into your build I would look to make changes elsewhere.

  20. My Fiery Aura/Energy Melee Tank, definitely. Back in live, a loooing time ago... Fire/EM Tanks could practically 2 shot any squishy in PvP. Something about a Build Up + Fiery Embrace buffed Energy Transfer/Total Focus just seemed.... dirty.

Even with the nerf, I still love it. When you use both of your build ups, Energy Transfer and Total Focus SLAP. Even level bosses can be two-shot frequently and +4 bosses may as well be. You will frequently team with Kinetics users and de-buffers.. this just makes it hilarious. I’ve watched AV hit-point bars drop like a bosses would with just one Energy Transfer... 😎 You just have to take my word for it!

  21. Did a Kahn TF on my Kin/Sonic Defender. There was a Rad/Sonic and Dark/Sonic Defender too... I sent a tell to a Stalker on the team, asking him how much damage he was able to do. I think he mentioned a 4.4k crit... all I know is my T1 blast, Shriek, was doing around 500-600 damage. It was nuts.
