Usually I find this thinking a little overblown, but getting a "haha" when you didn't post anything funny, comes off a little condescending. Thumbs up or down are already annoying enough. Back in the day we had forums and you had to say something to chime in.

Now we have up and downvotes, which don't promote discussion and lead to hivemind mentality. This might be a rather personal feeling of course. And I use them myself, don't get me wrong, but for "I agree" or "I disagree" without posting. I think that's what you mean.

A lot of the other emojis don't fulfil such a purpose though and often used to be snide.

lap it up, i get that on mine from 2 particular users who like to support some rather awful sentiment quite regularly.

they kind of just mark themselves.

its like how people graffitti tag a thing, or urinate on it for some reason to exercise themselves of a way.

Where to even start. I'm going to ignore the start for sure. I'm not interested in ad hominem.

You also seem to be speaking for the devs. Again you're not a dev. I don't care unless there is a DEV POST explicitely stating "we wont change power pools like that" or "we wont add slots".

If I don't speak for the majority, then you don't speak for the devs either. That's a non-starter.

You also point to "how it was intended" 20 years ago for one thing in your favor and for another thing not in your favor. Like the IO changes where totally intended, extra slots where not. Was removing Fitness intended? Have we asked the design head from 20 years ago? Can you point me to HC devs confirming this somewhere?

We have added TaskForces, powersets, an entire AT, made balance changes. Where is this line of "only intended changes from back in the day"? Is there dev manifesto from 2005 I haven't seen?

I just don't find this argument convincing. Clearly the devs do make changes. Clearly they can't know the intent from 20 years ago.

And more importantly: At some point you'd stop doing patches or adding things wouldn't you? It's just too vague.

they just like arguing it seems, and never complain about fitness, nor a new AT, nor new sets... some of the same ALSO want beanbag to be aim... its about what they want, couched as a grand arguement on balance, typically.

fighting dropping prereqs or reordering stupid kick/punch to 3rd would do only 1 thing: free a power choice, replacing something (nearly all) people keep barred as a brawl replacement 1 slotted and use for lols, or simply unbar.

kick/punch in fighting is a tax, and in the way of build variety opened by it not being a wasted prereq.

the cost balance around making you waste a power to get tough/weave, is silly, in my opinion.

    and not FUN.

remember, as debated endlessly - its supposed to be fun.

it doesnt rock your sock or boat balance wise at all - youd just have the ability to do something useful with what now a power choice you make and dread at the level up screen.

'oh hells, fine, its kick/punch now and immediate unbar or... f it'  <-- thats not fun.

  3. balancing around making a person drop a power (ie punch/kick) is poor of vision.

just open it up in fighting (that alone), and all of a sudden theres a loose pick that extends the meta.

you know salt crystals is pbaoe almost instant cast def down (and a sleep), but you skip that, right - because kick?

black hole is not dimension shift, but it saves lives in skilled hands. but you skip that, right - because punch?

there are many: the aoe stun in dark blast. but punch.

    its the smart choice, kupo.

  4. essential power pool slotting (for me) on literally every character that isnt a healer or has a healing skill where extending set bonus past uniques is worthwhile:

health - panacea, miracle, numinas, sometimes preventative medicine absorb proc, but theres often something that can take this and the final set bonus os good recharge.

^ why? it is WAY TOO much base recovery/effective regen to pass up.

stamina - performance shifter, occassionally the chance for self heal one (cant remember set name)

    stupid punch/kick - leave blank

    tough/weave

3-6 in each of these. must place unbreakable guard, shield wall, scaling res one, res/def low level set one, lotg, gladiators armor.

    ---

    spacer.png

the only thing i dont care for in this is having to take kick or 'punch' in the fighting pool.

generally, and for select pools one could look across characters and see 'oh ya, nearly everyone is doing as honoroit mentions!':

say for example fighting: keeping pool level requirements, but opening selections to not require n powers to have been selected prior, would lead to greatly increased build variety.

thunderspy did exactly this.  you still need to be level n to select the tough or weave, but you do NOT have to take punch or kick.

so a power is freed - the player can grab a skipped primary/secondary power, be a flier with combat teleport and not sacc all over the build to accommodate the loss of other power.

Oh interesting, how would you use that? Flash Fire, Cages and then bamf to the center with CC and HF running?

    mhm!

you can also tp in a straight line if you need a blink like escape

    /bind ctrl+` powexec_location me:100 combat teleport

i dunno if it works with like -100 (100ft is range of combat tp at base), i will test that this evening.

but its a very good escape.

Garbage unless you have another stun to stack with it (i.e., Oppressive Gloom).

Not really needed for Dark/Dark since you have Twilight Grasp, but it's a good self-heal when paired with a primary that doesn't have one.

Fearsome Stare and Darkest Night should provide all the -tohit you need (and most of the time you won't need DN). Any additional debuff provided by the blasts is gravy.

ty for heads up on dark pit, it did look a bit lacking.

so enough -tohit to consider sonic blast u think?

Don’t pick Dark Blast over Life Drain… Life Drain is better damage. Gloom/Moonbeam/Life Drain is your bread and butter.

its a base 8s recharge and will be 4s with haste n'stuff.

noted.  its that or dark blast, aye.  will try respec when of level.

obv slot for dmg/proc vs any heal as am dark miasma primary and if i need healing i have it on tap.

  8. for the dark/dark defender

has anyone got thoughts on 'dark pit' in dark blast?

its quick cast (1.07s), 60s base CD, 20ft radius aoe (howling twilight is 15ft), does no damage, no other effects, but is only mag 2 stun.

in dark blast skips are (for me):

    dark pit

life drain (too many ST, dark blast is my spam, but i lose a -tohit source)

its got me thinking to make the defender dark/sonic.

I'm unsure how much -tohit layering will be needed when dark miasma is primary.

  9. imo -

    Pain dom:

    spacer.png

the heals are good, and you can main heal a group and very much assist a league if you take all 3. slot heavily.

enforced morale is a widely scoped buff, as well as a 'dispel' for cc. it lasts for 90s, so its nice for blappers, or anyone who isnt packing a toggle or reactive cc breaker.  you dont need to slot it.

soothing aura is good for 6 slot, panacea.  it will proc on others in the aura, youll get the set bonuses.

id not bother heavily slotting world of pain, leaving it single. its good base, and youll be hurting for slots on damaging powers if you properly slot out all heals.

2 recharge in anguishing cry, pair with haste, again with 2 recharge in it.

honestly, of i were to skip one, itd be pain bringer. you can maybe get it from 5m down to 2m15ish with a LOT of recharge.

if you like painbringer, consider burnout from speed pool.

dual pistols, im afraid i dont play enough (though regularly mean to) to comment.

If you're set on Symphony it's not very synergetic with many dom assaults.  It's a ranged damage control which would pair well with only a select few sets with Fire being the most obvious.

If you're not set in stone with Symphony then you could do something/energy/soul.  Energy and Soul pair real well for a mix of high melee, ranged and pbaoe damage.

symphony is pretty great, and with pet echo is a big chunk of cc magnitude.

even a second wave of mag3 sleep, when youve put mag 6 under dom (as well as its dmg down debuff), makes it a very good power.

this over every primary thing you do.

i tried /fire, and, its fire. i just really dont like its pbaoes.

i could go symphony/dark controller, and get pretty abusive with disorient...but the cc loses base mag.

so far, symphony feels like mind mk2.

  11. itd be great if everyone sorted the papers on the desk, and talked in channels appropriate to need.

but they talk a bit in looking-for-group, because a lot of people are there, I suppose.

if anything, keeping 'Help' good for people who're stuck, or, heavens, new, is something we'd do well to try for.

but, /shrug, people talk while seeking or posting for teams.

    its nice to hear something.

    I find this funny.

If you looked up "Gypsy" on the internet just a couple of years ago, it said the exact opposite. I think I even found videos on youtube where Roma in America prefered the use of the term "Gypsy".
It seems that it is becoming increasingly objectionable in America recently.

I just did a search to check what it is saying now if I search for "is gypsy a bad word in america".

Top of my search is: "Europeans used the word “gypsy” as a racial slur throughout these centuries to justify the discrimination and persecution of the Roma people."

"It is estimated that there are one million Romani people in the United States. They known as American Gypsies." - https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romani_Americans#:~:text=It is estimated that there,They known as American Gypsies.

I agree that there seems to be some rampant word "connotation" changes recently.

Lately, some seem to be good at (actively) attempting to take control of words and altering their meanings.

    Thanks.

    hilty-tilty (specifically) persecuted them.

theres been / we're undergoing a resurgance of same-craft-idolatry of that, and its various awful visions, in the USA at least.

one must persist in stamping it out, keeping it vestigal. it remains an ugly, and festering, world wound.

By the way, before you try to make excuses for this one, the second item under the Content Guidelines section of the CoC states:

"Hate speech is defined as anything threatening or abusive towards a specific group based on their race, religious beliefs, political affiliation, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity"

Identifying a character as lesbian and indicating they are useless is BLATANTLY abusive toward gender identity.  And the GM who ignored this is JUST as offensive for letting it slide.

among a community of really nice people - we have some really awful members.

of course the name 'usless <classification of identity>' is offensive.

it infers that there is purpose of womanhood, how? thats unclear.

but its not complex to ask and answer? does this likely intend harm to the viewer of this text?

    i say, yes.

  16. the prior evokes 'its not a gun that shoots someone'

to topic - that a person would want to do a thing, that causes harm. thats a very human problem and desire.

an act then is, of nature, offensive - when it is associated with an attack, or agression, or stripping fluff --> intent to sew or manifest a harm.

why would some mock those of physical or mental deformity?

to cause isolate, and societally, to encourage self eliminate, ostricisation, and create conditions where it is unpalatable for them to breed, and where a distaste follows the target.

without thinking it through - its easier to substitute bad/wrong/punishable for <moniker>.  'i was / is only having a laugh', says the transgressor, irritated and abdicating inner sentiment.

do you (any or all of us) go out of your way to harm others with words, in a video game?

if so, what drives the desire to?

  17. I'm collecting enh for both, but have started the symphony/dark

    spacer.png

it's good so far, many cone.  I also tried a symphony/fire, but

very much dislike consume and the 3s one thats pbaoe (and terrible).

its not layered like a dark/dark is, and we'll have good compare there with tge defender.

got set back a bit... bought a few winter packs and got nothing but candy canes and 25 merits. which is annoying.

  18. something I'll remember as realization of how we shape things, particularly as minds are forming, came at me amusingly, and unexpectedly in a grocery store.

    probably c.a. 2012.

parent mother is by the checkout. snall child, maybe 6-8, reaches for end isle candy, places it on the checkout roller.

mother smacks child's hand, not over hard, and exclaims: 'stop picking stuff up - thats so communist' in a vert scolding tone

so, attempting to get candy had nothing to do for the chosen word - and theres the focus - it was a substitution for 'bad' / 'wrong' / 'punishable'.

but the mother did not say the words bad/wrong/punishable.

denial of the item, a smacks pain and jolt, and a link is established on tge impressionable.

iver time, and not long, that child is going to associate a word with 'bad'.

and so the mother tries to shape behavior of her child.

we'ce spent the better part of our lives with 'queer' this, or 'thats so fag gay that'.

    its never been nice.

and oft the vocal are indeed obsessed, with male genetalia.

I'll leave the reader to fathom why

    - some of us have had to spend mich of our lives trying to understand how to avoid being left-handed. and oh, is it tiring. its designed to be. encouraging of self-elimination, an effective social neutering- just harm, at the end.

profanity and its travel - it has veen a long and looped road.

if i have learned anything, weathered - itd be that we value and stand for kindness and virtue - and this as noble.

we talk of, and seek grace, and its emulable acts, but are among these sentiment in antithesis - more often than not.

so filter all that away 😀

i do like symphony dom tho, the plethora of cones, and decentish cooldowns on them lets you work a mob from a spot, and ideally have echo from the pet. thats a lot of mag.
