Lets bring back microtransactions and subscription rewards too.

That way I can make all these people grinding for their cosmetics feel just as envious as everyone else.

Having to spend money you don't have is different than unlocking something during game play.

You can't tell me you don't have time to kill 100 skulls, or get a boomtown badge, ect... during regular game play

Paragon Chat wasn't popular because there wasn't a game to actually play, don't make stuff up.

There's a tonne of stuff to do in this game. Just because you don't get a big gold crown saying how great you are doesn't mean there is no content.

Then why are some afraid to play the game for a couple costume unlocks while still having the majority of them insta free 😉

Genuine question to those who want unlockable costume pieces: Why is a badge not enough?

If all costumes were locked but all badges we're free to everyone, would badges be enough for you?

It's not just having a grindy thing to do. It's about having something worth working towards. The same as if homecoming was an instant 50 full incarnate without an option to not be: I'm sure many wouldn't like that either.

There's a reason why Paragon Chat was never popular like Homecoming.

Many players want end game content too, and unlockables we're part of that for many of us.

l I want to do is make costumes, guys and gals. Please don't make me jump through unnecessary hoops to do so. We have badges for accomplishments. Please hunt those. Alternatively, some of the other servers have content locked costume pieces, maybe they would be more fun and to your liking?

You have icon for costume making, maybe that would be more fun and to your liking?

I'm not wanting everything back to original, just the new stuff to have some unlocks.

This isn't an all or nothing like many seem to take it. Like having one new costume price out of hundreds be behind 'hunt 200 skulls and gain the Skull Hunter title to unlock the glowy eyed version of the skull mask' is to much.

Having pretty much all costumes locked like DCO is unreasonable and a large reason why I couldn't get into it, but also having every costume price ever going forward free is unreasonable and a large reason why CoH doesn't keep me interested.

  5. I do try and set 4/8 as my goal for characters I build

So far for my main (DB/SR) it's been 4/8 everything unless I'm leading a team and they can't keep in stride, I'll turn it down for them. Solo is always 4/8 against any so far.

Granted, I spent a ton of time on the build and then getting the needed enhancements.

Definitely couldn't do everything 4/8 before all that and had to change depending on the group I faced.

I think it depends on your powers too; my PSI Melee/Energy Aura will probably be better at 4/8 then my main.

That guy looks like an a-hole. I hate how he's the first face you see when you go to create a character. Male Face 7 or Male Face 10 would be much better default faces for when you first create a character.

That's the face I use in response to Karens lol

If you replace Tank with a different four letter word, apparently.  Like what I would (totally not) say to all the baddies who try to burn me in fire farms 😁

By that logic though,  anything could be offensive though.  Don't give them that power.

TankYou is yours and you can decide what it is.

Personally I don't think it's the least bit offensive to anyone reasonably minded.

This would be one of those things that I would suggest self gimping on. Some people like it and I feel like those that don't are free to not utilize

Self gimping has it's place,  but it shouldn't be used for everything in every situation.

Demon Souls/Darks Souls wouldn't have made the same impact on gaming if instead of impossing a difficulty, it relied on

    self gimping.

I used Energy Aura for my Stalker on the Cake Server and was practically a living god. Psi/EA was just insane and I was very hard to kill, even for Regen Scrappers who are usually a Stalker's bane. My suggestion is to stack more resist with SR so that SR's natural scaling resist stacks with the resist you build in to it with set bonuses. SR's lack of a self heal hurts the set in PvP, which is why I went with EA. Not to mention, EA has practical immunity to every CC in game, which gives it a HUGE advantage in PvP. However, if SR is your thing (I get it, I used to be in love with SR in the old days, in those days I was a living god in PvP, taking on 4 to 5 players at once was insane) be sure to pick up a self heal.

I definitely noticed the need for a self heal haha. I have a energy aura in working on that I think will out perform SR when I'm done with it.

If you're willing and able, I could send you my mids build and show you what I'm packing. I think for a pretty good min/max going on,  but if I messed some things up I'd love to fix it.

Man, I am not trying to pick a fight with you, so just want to get that out there. I do want to say that Defense in PvP is a HUGE factor though. People without high defense melt. Unless Homecoming has done something different with PvP in this game, you can';t go in PvP with a defense weak build or you won't last very long. Regen can pull it off to a degree because if you stack Resist with Regen it works wonders, however, any other build will need to cap defense or else they simply won't be able to hold their own.

All good haha.  It's just my thoughts after making a pretty good min/maxed SR build and unless I use elude or the incarnate bubble, I get hit 8 out of 10 times while I can run any +4/8 content in pve that ive tried so far.

I don’t know if it’s an OCD thing or what, but I have always found myself a complete slave to the thematic in CoX.

Fire/Fire, ice/cold, elec/storm, archery/TA, ss/invul, that kind of thing. That very much extends to epic power pools too. I just couldn’t even fathom playing a non-thematic build, and I know because I’ve tried!

Is anyone else like that or am I just one lonely loon in a prison of self-restraint?

I don't know if I'd say I'm a slave to it, but I do need to have a theme in my head when building a character.

They don't need to be typical thenes,  but they do need to fit a story i have in my head or I can't enjoy building/playing the character as much as I normally would. I'm weird hahaha

Can you elaborate on your "def is crap in pvp" statement for me? I am not disagreeing with you, and I know that damage output is king in pvp, but what makes defense crap for pvp?

Builds focusing on Def get melted pretty easy since It's really easy to bypass def, plus just being in pvp brings your def stats down too.

  13. I don't see a 'in pvp' option on the vote 😞 [answer= def is crap in pvp]

In PvE I think it's fine as is, unless incarnate abilities are used, but that's everything and not just def.

I like the idea but I feel like incarnate abilities should maybe offer scaled benifits when not doing incarnate stuff.

It's fine that you draw a line in the sand, but, that line only means something to you.  Stop trying to make it mean something to other people.

Isn't that the point of this topic though... Seeing if other people have dealt with it and what their thoughts are?

Replacement's answer can mean something to you, or not. Just because Replacement answered doesn't mean it's being forced on anyone, even if the opinion isn't everyone elses.

Bumping in to someone at random is not at all the same thing as the "nudgers" (as they've been dubbed in this thread).  The nudgers are the ones who make a concentrated effort to continuously force another player-character to move by repeatably making contact.  Hence the opinion that there's something wrong with these nudgers and/or they're assholes.

Hmm, I don't know.  Nudging someone that is afk to a different spot could be slighty amusing.

I would call that a pretty harmless prank.

Now if you're just doing it nonstop to a person as if your a large fly trying to spit on a turd, then that's anoyyingly childish and you should  make better use of your time.

I just wanna find out if the star rating is global or not and when I asked in Help in-game I got a 'This is a no judgement zone please refrain from rating people' answer so that person got an iggy and I came to ask you fine folks here 😁

This is my first time attempting to use the star rating system so I need lots of help.  Thanks!

Umm, that person is oblivious lol. Friends are basically people we've judged worth spending time with, and there's also people we judge not worth the time... no judgment zone rofl get over yourself.

Sorry I don't have anything worthwhile to add; I didnt even know there was.a rating system until just now : )

9.1% for a +4 boss.....ok, I'm way overstressing this then.  This is my first defense character since being back, so I have no idea how well my other few defense chars were back in the day.   I think I was more worried/annoyed when  people wanna run +4/8 no matter what.

I haven't tried soloing TFs yet, but so far as a Dual Blades/SR Scrapper I've soloed everything I've come across at +4/8.

The only place I've seen DEF focused builds suck is PvP.

In my original post I tried to articulate why I thought it would be a good idea, but my thoughts were:

    • Be able to play multiple ATs and/or power sets on one character
    • Fill different roles without having to switch characters
    • Be able to have one character become a "main" for badges, etc.,
    • Allow a character to be played longer and become more ingrained within the community
    • Allows post Incarnate progression

It started because I have a character with a name that could fit a lot of ATs / Power Sets.  He is an Illusion / Radiation Controller, but it would be cool if he could switch to Illusion / Storm, or Mind / Psy Dominator, etc.  Basically, I am always trying out new characters, so once at 50 and Incarnated I rarely play my 50.  I expect many others do the same.  It would be nice to have one character I could play long term.

Yes, I understand I can play my current character long term and I have seen quite a few people with veteran levels that are 100+, so they are able to continue enjoying their characters post-50.  IMO, there is limited progression once you are 50 and fully Incarnate.  This would allow continuous progression with limited downside.

Anyway, it is just a suggestion that is unlikely to be implemented, because I expect it would be extremely difficult.

This is a good idea.  I think the main reason for my suggestion is that I feel there is a lack of progression post 50 and being Incarnated.  I think adding new items for progression would alleviate some of it.  In another thread I suggested a new badge and accolade power for completing the Shadow Shard TFs and some other badges.  Things like this would give a sense of progression.

In SWTOR, once you were at max level it was basically the same thing, but they had guild wars that gave individuals a weekly reward for tasks. Maybe something like that could be added.

Maybe I should check out PVP here.  I played PVP in SWTOR, but was under the impression PVP was not good in CoH.

    I'm also a swelter vet, pvp'd a ton there!

Pvp in coh can be fun, but it's not as balanced as swtor.

Most of the time its popcorn vs popcorn

As it stands, what keeps me going is making the best builds I can, doing a couple incarnate things every so often, old school leveling some alts, stuff like that.

I would love some new costumes/powers/classes to work towards. These are very touchy subjects for some, but this game needs something more to strive for besides badges if this game will survive its resurgence.

Easiest way to get them in most zone is to put them on the bottom floor of the AE.

More would be nice but I think they want you to buy the crafting bench from the P2W vender for 10mil as a inf sink.

That's how i see it. Either have some small time inconvenience, or pay for the table and have it anywhere.
