i too am a hater of masterminds and used to actively exclude them from my kin-led KM ITF runs, however i’ve found the melee ones once i’ve hit them with fulcrum shift and speed boost can actually be quite good

my biggest frustration now are players who stay entirely at range miles away from combat whilst the rest of the team has +300% DMG from FS having a wild time. those ranged players just aren’t contributing to the progress in such situations but kicking feels a bit harsh

Standing at melee range is a fast way to turn "squishy" into "squished".  It's not an easy instinct to overcome.

Helldivers 2 lead talks about game balance and its’ role in game design. Frankly I agree with his take.

    What are your thoughts?

I think the Helldivers franchise and its dev team isn't a great reference point to use WRT game balance.

There is also the infamy rule. Nobody who is an awful individual is generally allowed. So Hitler, Mussolini, Vlad the Impaler, Caligula etc. People who's crimes were so horrific their infamy will never die.

Which is almost a shame when you think about it.  An AE mission where you mow down a horde of "real" historical villains would see quite a bit of play.

Personally I'd be fine with the "coming storm" going away. It was a horrible sounding idea, frankly, and mostly pushing more Incarnate stuff in the next tier of abilities (which we have little to no information on.)

Plus it would entail building yet another Villain-Sue enemy group to throw at players with minimal justification, just so we could have a few Incarnate tiers' worth of arc fatigue dealing with them before going back to the usual grind of listening to nerfherders whining about how everything is too easy and how all these shinies people worked to earn should be taken away.

Typically with a kusarigama, you throw the weight, never the kama. The kama isn't exactly a good thrown projectile, especially connected to a chain. Instead, the kama is used to strike the target you catch with the chain.

Yeah, well proper weapon handling has never been a concern when it comes to powerset design in this game.

If it's team level, which it most likely would have to be in order for it to work at all, this would essentially prevent newbies from ever seeing the cutscenes at all.

In SWTOR, anyone who bothers to watch a flashpoint cutscene has often been at serious risk of verbal abuse and being called a troll for watching it. I don't know if that's still true in the community today but it was a big problem a few years ago.

This is an issue in FF14 as well.  Doesn't matter how many times community leaders tell folks to let sprouts watch their cutscenes (there's a lot of important story stuff in there), there's always that one jackoff who insists on pulling the boss immediately.

Granted, FF14 has a lot more folks who will simply stand back and let those jackoffs get splattered by said boss, but there's still enough folks who don't learn the lesson for the dev team to flag some cutscenes as unskippable to stop it happening in major story dungeons.

  7. For the most part if I don't like something, I don't run it (PVP, Eden and Sewer Trials).  That said, I echo the bit about the rather obnoxious patron arcs; doing them for the 99th time doesn't make them any less annoying.

Accolade buffs are something I usually pick up organically as I happen to stumble across groups doing the relevant content or not at all, with only the Atlas Medallion being worth going out of my way for.  Wouldn't be onerous at all if it weren't for that damn escort mission.  There's no such thing as a fun or rewarding escort mission.

I saw the recruitment for that. And I said to myself, "Self, that's a master run. Can you tank Recluse on your new, largely untested Tank? Your defense is only about 20%, but your resistance is capped to s/l/e. ... not really sure. Depends on external buffs."

That would be a hard no.  Speaking from experience, maxed resists do very little against buffed Recluse.

In incarnate content, the MM pets are the same level as the MM. If you are a 50+1 MM, then your T1s are level 48+3, T2s are 49+2, and your T1 is 50+1. If you are a level 50+3 MM, then your T1s are 48+5, T2s are 49+4, and T3 is 50+3. (Edit: And if you aren't incarnate yet? Then in incarnate content, including incarnate zones, your T1s are their level +2, T2s are their level +1, and T3 is your level.)

Which does nothing at all to help MMs in the other 95% of the game.

No salt required.  Cryptic getting STO launched within an impossibly short time is publicly known.  The part about STO requiring CO in order to function isn't true.  This was a rumor that was spread several years ago.  Cryptic Devs put that to rest a long time ago.  CO and STO might share a chat server, but were CO to get shuttered, STO will still work just fine.

That said, the fact that they share infrastructure effectively allows them to share the bills.  This means CO can turn a profit off even the most minimal revenue stream because STO prints money simply by virtue of being attached to a nigh-unkillable IP.

Should we be telling new players to ease off the intellectual property toe-stepping and report them if they don't?

Probably, yes.  CoH has faced legal problems from Marvel before over this, and that was when it had the resources of an actual company to defend itself (and Marvel didn't have Disney's resources to squash people with).
