     It's a classic trial

Irrelevant.  There's no point in even giving the PC an HP bar if you're going to circumvent it with oneshot mechanics.  Even HAMIDON doesn't instagib people.

I'm not dealing with that shit.  Period.  I don't care what excuses you offer, it's a bullshit mechanic that should not exist in any game and I will not run that trial ever again.

The Crystal Titan will not use its Foot Stomp if its current target is out of reach.  It will only do its cone attack, Prism Blast, at you.  You can taunt it from up high and everyone else can safely nibble its ankles to death, assuming nobody nibbling its ankles is also taunting.

That's not what I've seen.  Everyone was airborne including the taunter, I landed my controller just long enough to drop an acid mortar - IMMEDIATE Foot Stomp.  Dead in one shot, right through Ambrosia.

I am never running that bullshit again.

I just don't see it as a win/win fix. More like a lose/lose fix. But that's just my opinion.

You could say the same thing about them deciding to break Rage way back when.

It certainly hurts and may require respecs or changing your AE critters.  But fire farms will go on.

PS.  I don't like the -defense in fire melee and hope they revert it.  It's bad, but it's not doooooooooooooooom.

I'm wondering where they got the idea to give Fire Melee of all sets defense debuffs.  That feels like "This set needs a buff, get out the hat".

  5. My opinions on the devs' trustworthiness (comma lack of) aside, my only real complaint about page 5 itself is the number of characters I'm gonna have to basically rebuild from scratch if I ever want to play them again.

MOST of the changes look pretty good, especially compared to the fiasco of page 4.  But that respec interface is just ...UGH.  Half the time I spend in Mids is for the sole purpose of NEVER DEALING WITH THAT SHITSHOW AGAIN.  In a lot of cases I find it easier to start over from the creation screen than endure the respec UI.

    I mean, exactly this.

Side tangent: I swear,  it feels like folks think if they say, "Devs volunteer yadda yadda spiel" enough they'll be made one. You won't, they see right through that I'd assume. So, why keep saying it? It's more irritating than the complaining and even LESS effective. In fact, ya' wonder why folks don't want to test anything? There ya go.

Personally, I'm not testing anything because my current work schedule makes playing CoH at all impossible, nevermind the extra time and energy to get onto a whole different server.  Considering the devs' track record, by the time I get a chance to make any feedback the self-appointed forum police would call valid, the chance for it to be considered will be long gone.

I'd still like to see at least the grave knights to also get lethal resistance (they are kinda wearing armor?)  Being the heavy knights and in melee I feel they kind of need it and it is appropriate.

Thematically speaking, Necro pets should have some lethal resist anyway.  They're fucking dead, what's "lethal" even mean at that point?

And because some people around here either can't grasp context or have the reading comprehension of a cinderblock: yes, I am joking.

I dunno. I’m optimistic that if you actually test it then your feedback will be listened to. There were wiggles last time if you raised good points respectfully, after testing it, and could make a well thought out argument. Attitude plays a lot in this I think.

Where you saw a few small wiggles, I saw a whole lot of "yeah, we'll look at that" followed by pushing it live as-is.

They could at least be honest about their intentions with the threads and call them "Bug Testing: X Change".   Because that's clearly the only feedback they're actually interested in.

  9. The Fool's debuff is annoying, but you should be building your character to be able to power through a measly -3% to hit; you're going to be dealing with a lot worse from enemies.

Overall, it's an assortment of nice (if random) little buffs that don't cost end and last a long time - well worth casting and accepting.

As easy as the 'corrupt corporation' angle is to run with (especially if Crey is still involved) I do hope there's at least some Hero Corps-involved content that isn't like that. Have some of the agents actually be heroic folks who earnestly want to protect people and just happen to do it as a full-time job (like actual emergency personnel/security services, just with superpowers). Keep the vigilante/The Boys-type stuff with the Void Sanction, since that slice of Hero Corps is already established specifically for that kind of stuff.

Frankly, blueside groups having 'morally questionable/anti-hero' interior factions is getting a bit stale, but at least as far as Hero Corps goes that vigilante aspect has been in-game for a long time.

    1. The corrupt corporation angle exists because by the nature of the entity there's no such thing as a NON-corrupt corporation.

    2. Sub-units like Void Sanction can only exist if someone at the top of the food chain signed off on it.  In other words, what you see in a VS arc is what Hero Corp actually is when you remove the shiny PR finish.

That doesn't preclude ground-level grunts being ordinary joes picking up a paycheck.  Even in the worst outfits the lower rungs tend to be mostly punch-clock types.  But the people making the decisions absolutely ARE rotten.  Neither Longbow's active invasion of the Rogue Isles nor Void Sanction in general would have happened if the people in the boardrooms were clean and upstanding.

  11. If you believe this will go any better than Crey's usual shenanigans, I have a bridge to sell you.  Corporate interests NEVER line up well with hero work, even when the corporation claims to be all about heroes.

You'll be accountable all right - to a bean counter in a nice safe corporate office in another city who only looks at algorithms and metrics and doesn't care about the actual situation on the ground.

Not just trophy girlfriends, but sacriligious trophy girlfriends.

Persephone, the one in this picture, is the wife of Hades.  There is a Greek myth where Odysseus (and another guy whose name I cannot recall right now) are able to travel to the underworld, and they get the bright idea to try and kidnap Persephone and force her to marry one of them.  For obvious God-and-Goddess-of-the-Underworld reasons, that does not work, and they are trapped in Hades for their hubris until Herakles busts them out some time later.

Odysseus is hubristically challenging the God of the Dead with that girlfriend's name.  I am sure that is not going to come back and bite him some time later...

So he's living up (or maybe down) to his namesake.  Most of the protagonist's issues during the Odyssey were brought on by him cheesing off the gods, especially Poseidon.

  13. A lot of my characters end up with Maneuvers because the def-all helps get to softcap territory, and defense sets have a ton of desirable bonuses.  Beyond that, it depends what I have build space and end for.  Positional defenses have a lot more value after the typed-defense nerf, so "6-slot Gaussian in Tactics" often feels worth it now (and as a bonus, Tactics largely stuffs those annoying blind effects some enemy groups like to throw at you).  Assault is largely expendable unless I'm playing a Mastermind (pets need all the buffs you can offer, even marginal ones).
