NB/Invul or NB/Elec

I have a T3 BS/SD stalker who is almost finished and I'm looking for my next character. I really like my wraith, but I'm looking at old data extolling the damage dual blades and katana/ninja blade and I thought I'd give one of them a try. Looking at the damage numbers ninja blade seems the clear winner and I've made two builds. I will take both to T3-T4 but only want to do one of them.

Both have hasten running, so add 70 to each recharge for 98.8 vs 133.8. Both have 5 attacks - a cone, assassin's blade, a knockup and a knockdown (plus the T1 swing enhanced for def debuff). Elec need to cycle in Divine Avalanche to get even those defense numbers, while Invuln can stay putting out damage.

 

The recovery seems somewhat inconsequential to me. The difference in recharge seems significant. The difference in End Reduction seems huge. However, so is the difference in defense. What do you think?

 

Last but not least: Is there any reason I would take DB over NB? I love the look of the character with DB but while the damage in comparable for ST, it's way subpar for AE.

Hi Samy, nice to see some more people running more than just one Stalker, like me.

 

I am surprised you want to try out NB after playing BS so much. They are almost the same. If you are going to play NB with any of the two sets above, you will notice how low the AoE damage will be. Because you will not have Shield charge. But if you are settled on that primary it will be fine.

 

I would not recommend Dual Blades if you want to play in endgame content, because DB uses Placate to get the empowered efect. I usually respec out of placate when i switch from my leveling build to the endgame build. 

 

For the two buikds you postet, you should go to options, effects&math and check attacked. That way you will be seeing the real numbers on defense.

 

If you would choose between the two sets i would vote for elec, because you can get melee, slashing and lethal defense easily caped other way, no need for parry/divine avalanche. I am at work now but when i come home i will make a NB/Elelc build that should be ok, if you want to. Or any other primary?

I don't know how old it is, but it's pretty in-depth.

 

My BS/SD is pretty beastly. I don't do a lot of incarnate content but I do some, and a lot of task forces. It's fun, first because my character is cool, but also because it's pretty effective. I one shot anything yellow or less and take huge chunks out of other stuff. When I came across the spreadsheets above, I started wondering if I could make something that would take even bigger bites and have better defenses. Shield charge is great and all, but you face dive quickly if you get carried away with it. Even so, however, one teleporting character is awfully similar to another and so I don't want to repeat it.

 

So, I decided to make another melee to see if I could do better than Wraith. I started fooling with concepts and I have a few that I like. Some weapon types are out because I don't like the visuals. Power sets I don't consider are:

 

Staff - I don't like the stabbing at your feet or the breakdancing on the ground moves.

Bio Armor - I don't want to look like a half-melted beehive and you do...even with min effect turned on.

Dark Armor - I would like to be able to see my costume without furballs getting in the way.

Rad Armor - The first power makes you look like bees are flying all around you. See Bio above.

Titan Weapon - I hear the damage is beastly and some of the moves are cool, but the weapons are too plain and the animations too slow. I know they get better, but still, I can't get past DFB without rerolling.

 

So, I'm making another melee. Probably a stalker because my last one was so cool. I'd like do the highest dps possible but never dying has it's attraction too. I still feel inclined to go NB/Invuln but I am very concerned about your comment about it playing the same as BS. I don't want to repeat the same experience unless it's going to be so much better that I transfer over all of my sets and drop Wraith.

I have a Ninja/Ninja, a BS/EA and a Elec/Shield that i played to 50 and fully tricked out.

The Elec/Shield was the best. 

NB and BS felt very similar for me. But ymmv...

 

I have looked at some spreadsheets now and they don't allways reflect the gameplay you will mostly encounter. I had seen some of this lists with BS high ranks, because Headsplitter was calculated with 10 targets hit. You know that this is not realistic.

 

Because of thst there is a thread in the scrapper forum where they designed a very specific AE mission to try out various primaries without IOs just to see how well they all are doing. I am surprised by the fact that claws is really high on that list.

Ok @Samyrmancer i made a NB/Inv for you. I did not test it but i am sure it will be a endurance hog, because invul....

We have got defense cap to s/l/f/c/e/n and resi cap to S/L other resi are in ok shape. Psi will be a pain, because......invul.

 

I guess you will use dull pain more as a heal and not to make it perma (it is) and abuse heavy regen. This is your only panic button. In groups with a healer and no tank you can use it as a perma buff and pseudo tank. I think with the stat enhancing accolades you can be at HP cap.

 

Divine Avalanche is now only a set mule and is left there for exemplering down.

 

I did not tweak the build for anything special, and therefore it is 3,8 seconds away from perma hasten but one FF proc or ageless aplication makes you perma hasten.

 

I think the only downside will be your lack of AoE damage and the fact that you are dependant of Ageless. (did i mention invul beeing a End Hog?).
