How do I get interested in this character?

Would a revised wishlist build like this work better, then?  Tried to get as much mileage out of relatively inexpensive stuff for this character; then again she already has her Miracle and Numina,  Even so this looks like it will take more than 2000 merits and a shedload of tickets to build.  Keeping Levitate; it amuses me.

Slot Dominate for Hold, not damage. Controllers would slot for damage with Procs, but they don't depend on their controls as much for their defenses, and they don't have other damage sources. Right now you're slotting up SEVEN ranged single-target attacks, which is more than you can fit into an attack cycle. That doesn't count Confuse which would also fight for use.

 

So... drop either Levitate or Mesmerize, though both are useful. Slot Dominate for Hold. Don't slot Flares (except early for leveling, but respec the slots later). With Blaze, Blazing Bolt, either Mez or Lev, and Fire Blast, you'll have enough damage attacks, and you still have to find animation time for Dominate and Confuse.

 

Dropping Mez or Lev and unslotting Flares gives you the slots to take and slot Wall of Force, which is a great power for you... it will match with the use of Terrify and Fire Breath, and it will take a Force Feedback proc to help your AoE controls recharge faster, which is exactly the time that you'll be using it.

 

Also Weaken Resolve takes damage procs... since you'll want to be using it, if you have free slots you might want to add damage to it.

Personally, I'd slot Terrify for damage, or with procs, or a mix of Fear and Damage.

 

You can get by without Mass Hypnosis, but frankly it's a great power for only putting one slot in it and still getting good effects when you use it.

First off dominators are the AT that benefits so much from an expensive build, more than any other AT I'd argue.  So you don't really want to half-ass a build here if you're going to get into it do it right.  A rule of thumb as a dominator I will never take more than 6 powers from each of my primary and secondaries.  Like Coyote has said you'll want to build up the best attacks like blaze and fire ball and the snipe and you'll want to use the pools to build you in other ways.  

 

To give you an idea of what slotting could look like on the control side of things this is my Mind doms build: 

Mesmerize - 6 slots of Superior Winter Blast (Could be Levitate), I like the sleep function 

Dominate - 6 slots Superior Ascendancy of the Dominator

Confuse - 6 slots Coercive Persuasion

Total Domination - 5 slots Purple set w/moderate dmg proc (could even do a 6th slot with another dmg proc to amp up the damage potential of this one) 

Mass Confusion - 6 slots Malaise

Telekinesis - 1 slot end redux (this is a convenience power I hardly use and had extra to fit in build without slots) could be Mass Hypnosis or Levitate w/e

 

Then boost your best attacks in the secondary and use the pools to shore up your recharge, resists and defense.

I may well burn another respec once I get this character to 50 and she has enough recharge to need fewer attacks.  But right now it seems that the character's need is more attacks that do damage.  I also don't want a build that isn't a whole-game build, and relying mostly on attacks that will disappear when exemped below 30 will make it harder for her to get the recipes for an expensive build.
