LongLiveTA
When base editing, the key for attachments (F5) does not work. The F1, F2, F3 keys work in base edit mode, for some reason F5 will not. These are the things that I have tried so far, thanks in advance! -Did /unbind F5. -Went to keybinds and saved the file, then reset my keybinds, then tried to reload the file. -Tried the 64 bit client (i use the safe mode client usually because I have issues with 64bit and sli). -Created new character and promoted. O installed the game to an entirely new drive and created a new account, promoted and still the same thing. Maybe i'm doing something wrong. BillyMailman
Yeah, what happened as you did the following was: Quote -Did /unbind F5. Unbind doesn't reset a key to default, it makes it do nothing, so this made sure F5 wasn't working. Quote -Went to keybinds and saved the file, then reset my keybinds, then tried to reload the file. The save button there saves out a file on your computer which is a new set of defaults. That file would have had F5 not set to anything, from the previous step. Resetting and reloading keybinds would have left you still in the same place. Quote -Tried the 64 bit client (i use the safe mode client usually because I have issues with 64bit and sli). Keybinds for a given character are actually stored server-side once they're set, so changing client wouldn't have helped. Quote -Created new character and promoted. New characters load in with the defaults, but you'd changed the defaults when you saved the file out earlier, so the new character didn't have F5 set to anything. Once you've run /bind F5 attachcycle or anything equivalent, and reset F5, you should go into the menu and save out the keybind file again, so new characters are working from now on. If you do /bind_save, new characters will indeed load with this new default. However if you hit the reset keybinds (red button) the game loads defaults from within the .piggs it doesn't load up the player created keybinds.txt. Generally speaking if you're having issues with binds not loading correctly it is best to Reset Keybinds (red button) then load up the default with /bind_load. This seems to work better than just /bind_load. Probably because it resets keys that have been unbound somehow to "nop". If binds are really screwed up I personally always do it this way then physically edit the keybinds.txt (in notepad etc) to find out what is going on. However I don't know why the OP is having the issue he is having. Does the F5 key not work on any item in the base? I know for sure the base portal won't be changed when using it. (Though I think there is an error message.) On your new installation with no changes to the binds (so absolutely default (or hit that red button)), type /show_bind F5. If it comes up with "Key F5 binded to: attach_cycle" (it's a system message), then you know it's not simply a missing bind. If the binding is fine (that is it reports F5 being bound to attach_cycle) do you know for sure that your F5 key works? Do you know for sure it is working in game (I have no idea why it wouldn't but it's a possibility). Try opening options and binding F5 to something else, preferably something that you can see happen in game. Jump would be a good one. Does the game register the key being pressed? That is can you bind it to anything in the options dialog? Once bound (if it works) will it allow you to do whatever it is now bound to in game?
