Replacement
Blaster :: Soul Mastery :: Oppressive Gloom Character level: 47 On white enemies, deals 5 damage to self. On Atlas Park enemies I fly near, I take 31 damage/tick. As you can imagine, it's pretty embarrassing to idle in a street and suddenly realize you're in the red because your aura caught some hellions.
MindOverMatter
Just bumping this bug report. I recognize that there may be few who take the Soul Mastery Patron pool but the odd Scaling damage to self may be linked to another scaling bug for blasters: the Darkness Manipulation > Touch of the Beyond. In the case of Touch of the Beyond, higher level enemies provide less Regen from activation (making the sustain far less potent than its counterparts in the other blaster secondaries) while lower level enemies provide enough Regen to cap the player. Replacement
I actually think I found the source of this bug (for Oppressive Gloom). On the self-damage portion of the power, here's the flags on the Brute version: "IgnoreStrength" "IgnoreResistance" "IgnoreLevelDifference" Here it is on the Mastermind version (which is apparently what Blaster pulls from, best I can tell) "IgnoreStrength" "IgnoreResistance" " CombatModMagnitude" So while I'm at it, let's see what Touch of Beyond says... "IgnoreResistance" "CombatModMagnitude" That's not a direct apples-to-apples check (and I need to run so I can't deep-dive TotB), but I think this is indeed what you're seeing -- it's ignoring Resist, which is great, but it's not ignoring the Purple Patch. Doomguide2005
Interesting, I know my Emp/Rad/Dark experienced similar behavior. But this was a long way back on Live, well before Sunset was even on the horizon and the tics of damage I took as a level 50 were nowhere near as much albeit relative large compared to the amount vs appropriate foes. Something like 6/tic vs 1/tic. Never occurred to me it might be a bug or has something changed in between? Edit: And yes I was lvl 50 clowning around in AP vs Skulls and Hellions Edited October 19, 2020 by Doomguide2005 Clarity
