How do you feel with him right now? Are you able to actually tank level 50+ content without having much Defense other than the cloak and pool powers?

I have a many year old budget build of somebodies, not mine, you can first see if you can afford "beyond" the slotting suggestions or work with them. Power pick wise please go with what you know. I keep hold of frankenslotted builds that are cheap as a transition to getting more expensive, like a halfway build.

Here's something to get you started that's more of a high-end expensive build.     Dark Melee offers some good synergy in terms of endurance management and -Acc to stack with Defense, but doesn't offer any particular extra Defense like some other secondaries.    This particular build will get you melee softcap defense with very strong resistances, and will softcap to all positions as well as to S/L/F/C/E/N damage types with the active Support incarnate power.    You could alternatively rework this with Kinetic Combats to focus more on typed softcap to allow for more DPS, depending on playstyle.

Justaris you put the highest recharging enhancement set in the already fastest recharging power, I've seen some other builds do this, its like spamming a tier 1 is a thing.

You could consider that IO set sort of a throw away set.  It grants an absorb shield which is nice to have but trying to guarantee its proc in a power like Midnight Grasp becomes an overall DPS loss for little survival gains.  

Midnight Grasp and Siphon Life will be better carries for damage procs (like the Mako Lethal) which will grant them better average damage returns. 

 

Finally, the build is already easy to weave Shadow Punch between Midnight Grasp and Smite  Siphon Life.  So its spammability will eventually trigger its proc, but the build isn't reliant on it.  

 

I also like to split that set into 2 powers to boost Energy Resistance a bit further, but the posted build looks like it has some Incarnate tanking in mind without worry of external support.

I haven't gone back into procs since I have been back but when it was live I decided on procs in AoEs because in STs  within an attack chain they equated to a rechg. Yeah for me to commit to an idea on set movements on that build I would have to excel it, excel the attack chain but being a tanker, you have to possibly break the chain for something else anyway. I'll take your word.

I had a Dark/dark live but not at the point of me doing incarnates, I just nominated it as the most fun tank to play in another thread but if I made it unchallengeable/immortal I'd probably lose interest. The game would need more content. My buzz came from things being risky.
